Novelty soon wears off
Review of Philips HD7810/70 by
benedictadams
Advantages: Quick to use
Disadvantages: Noisy, small water reservoir
...Philips have the design of this coffee maker down to a tea. It looks great in any kitchen.
Its so easy to use, just get a pod, fill up the reservoir and in hardly anytime at all you have a steaming hot mug of coffee
So why then does the novelty wear off so soon.
It is just a hassle.
The water hold just enough for two batches so if you have a large family or in a rush it ain't often that quick
The machine drips long after you have got you have taken your coffee, so the drip tray needs emptying so much more than necessary.
The pods are still not widely available so don't bank on being able to get a regular supply
Within a fortnight of purchase it was at the back of the cupboard.
Yes the coffee tastes better than the instant stuff but Tescos have a bigger range of jars...

Cannot start without my coffee
Review of Philips HD 7810/10 by
reg1971
Advantages: Quick tasty coffee
Disadvantages: small cups needed, expensive pods
...Anyone reading this review thinking of buying the 7810 in white, should also read reviews for the entire 7810 range they are all functionally the same only difference is colour and often the price.
This machine makes an excellent cup of coffee and looks good on the counter , those for me are the most important aspects of this machine.
On the downside finding cups that fit is not easy, we found the perfect small white cups in IKEA they are the perfect size for a single serving and only 50 pence each.
top tip: if you have no cups that fit remove the tray and drip catcher and use a mug.
The coffee pods are expensive and the range available in the supermarkets is poor, i have been ordering mine from a firm in holland and they cost about £1.30 for 18.
However if you search ebay for user/seller "karinundthomas" or search for "ecopods...

Sense of using a Senseo
Review of Philips HD7810/60 by
damaj
Advantages: Simple to use, very little mess
Disadvantages: Pods can be expensive. Water can collect under the machine
...of coffee.
The pods are quite expensive in the main UK supermarkets and I find that the best way to buy them is either in France or Holland on shopping trips or over the internet. The great thing about ebay is that you can obtain all of the flavours before they hit the supermarkets and also, and much more importantly for me, you can get the"own-brand" supermarket pods that are sold on the continent. These tend to be stronger and taste better than the blander varieties routinely stocked by Waitrose and Tesco, and they are a lot cheaper.
Before buying a Senseo be aware of what flavours you like - Philips do a "tasting" selection which helps but I would suggest trying the pods by using them as tea-bags. Because of the way that the coffee is compressed within the pods it is sometimes necessary to "steep" the pod for a while but the results work...

Cheap Product, expensive up-keep
Review of Philips HD7810/60 by
benbread
Advantages: sleek design, easily washable, great cup of coffee
Disadvantages: poor water heating, expensive pods, water holder may leak
...for the coffee lover.
-Appearance
The Philips HD7810/60 comes in silver and black colours, both well finished and a great addition to any kitchen. It includes a metallic drip tray. The machine is curvy with no jagged edges and will fit into just about any kitchen style.
-Use and Features
The machine has a removable jug for water which is labeled for single and double cup use, and will require refilling after each cup, although this is a bit of an annoyance, it does save on the bills by only boiling as much water as it needs. I have found however that this can start to leak with repeated use.
The machine comes with 2 removable 'pod' holders which clip into the machine securely, these of course are dishwasher safe and with save your fingers from being burnt trying to remove the pod.
At the front of the machine there are only 3 buttons, the centre...
