...Hi everyone What can I say ,my husband has finally managed to pursuade me to agree to him purchasing a large flat screen tv ,even if it was a little late for the world cup experience ,and I have to say I should have let him have one earlier .So come on girls ,let your men have their way . Phillips 37 PF 9631 D/10 ambilight

Advantages: good picture/ good connectivity/ambilight is a nice touch
Disadvantages: Unsupported sound quality is not as good as comparable brands

...The first thing to say about the Philips is that it looks great. If this is your first large flat screen telly, you'll be blown away by its dark sleekness and the amount of space it saves - especially if you wall mount it. The 37" is a good size for a smaller lounge in that it doesn't take over the room. That said it still provides that home cinema experience - especially with an additional sound system. We took a long time looking around for the right TV and this one seemed to provide the sharpest picture without looking artificial (the latter being an issue on the Samsung models). Only the Pioneer looked superior but then it was more expensive and didn't offer the ambilight feature which is essentially strip lights at the back of the tv that change colour to match movement in the picture and are projected onto the wall behind...

Advantages: Good Picture Quality, Wall Mount Kit Included, Good Design

The TV also features Pixel Plus which makes a huge difference to the quality of picture, there is also a split screen demo mode which enables you to switch Pixel Plus on one side and compare the two. Believe me, this is one setting which will never be turned off, as it makes an amazing difference to the clarity and sharpness of picture. The TV also has a small light sensor next to the IR sensor, which automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast based on the level of light available in your room, Philps call this Active Control, and it works very well. One thing people ask when they visit is "Is your TV HD ready?" to which I have to answer no. I know people keep harping on about HD and I admit it will be the future but at the moment I'm very happy with my TV in standard definition. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a 37...

Philips 37 PF 5521 D Look to the future!

Advantages: Easy to wall mount easy access to ports and very easy to tune
Disadvantages: Hardly none really apart from the size but its depends of the person

...This is an excellent tv back when i had a normal tv bulky and hard access and none portable and the xbox 360 games and much better viewing on HD tvs so i decided to purchase a HD tv now looking at the offers on i found the best deal with philips! An excellent buy if u want to get update to date with HD dvd viewing and HD games and HD sound! Really its up to you but if you fancy a change and are looking for an easy to view use and programme HD tv then this is the one for you! Also if you would like an easy computer access then u are able to hook up a pc to your HD tv with USB or HDMI....

...Well after weeks of researching for a new tv, the worry of wether or not LCD or Plasma was a better choice. I decided to ask the advice of my friend whom is a tv engineer. he Told me to go for the plasma although there is nothing wrong with LCD he told me the bigger screens are better with Plasma. He told me for a good value for money TV which has lots of great features and superb picture and sound quality to go for this Phillips model. Philips 42" Plasma Model: 42PF7520D/10

Advantages: Good choice of connections, great sound and picture
Disadvantages: Niggly scart and coax sockets

...I received this TV almost a year ago as a Birthday present. I can honestly say, you would be hard pushed to get a better 42" plasma TV for the price. As you would expect with a Philips TV you get all the features and more. There's 2 scart sockets and a DVI-I connection. I have had my laptop connected on this and the quality is amazing. Tip for you on this, buy a long lead of at least 2 metres! You are bound to need it unless you fancy squatting in front of the TV. The stereo speakers on either side of the unit are almost invisible and yet push out the volume very nicely. There's a lack of bass there but I'm no expert on that and its fine in my book. I have a 2.1 DVD player and a Sky box attached although I tend to use the inbuilt Freeview much more. I bet that if you hooked up a decent surround sound to this TV you would have...

42PF7621D/10 - Excellent Philips TV

Advantages: Great picure quality, ease of set-up and connectivity.
Disadvantages: Minor sound issue with certain bass frequencies.

...and the pictures are crisp, with very little motion blur. The pixel plus works very well and makes a big difference depending on the channel you are watching. There is also various digital noise reductions filters, I tend to have them all on maximum as it really does clean up the signal and improve picture quality. Connectivity wise it has everything, I am currently using a Philips upscaling dvd connected to the HDMI port and a HD freesat box connected to the other HDMI port. I also have a sky box connected through the SCART, and a Wii console via YPBC (480P). It handles my pc using a DVI-YPBC connection and camcorder through the phono connections on the side of the tv. Advantages: Good picture quality, Good looks, Reasonable price.
Disadvantages: Unfriendly remote, Useless EPG in IDTV, Wake up timer does not work on Digital TV, only on Analog TV.

...to use only Freeview. You will not be able to use this facility. Subscribed channes/ other set top box users will not suffer as much since this can be managed from that set. I sincerely hope and pray that this can be upgraded by Philips at a future date through any software upgrade through the waves. MOST CERTAINLY A POINT A FREEVIEW VIEWER WOULD LIKE TO CONSIDER BEFORE BUYING THIS TV. PIXEL PLUS: There is a demonstration button. Pressing this button would haze out half the screen and say that the hazed portion is what you would have seen if Pixel plus facility were not there. I am not sure.
