The Best Portable DVD Player For This Price!
Review of Philips PET 730 by
Craigshadow12
Advantages: Great picture, Good audio, Nice to look at.
Disadvantages: Sound cannot go as high as some other portable DVD players.
...this product was because I often keep lots of pictures on my iPod by using it as a memory device. With this DVD player I could easily view my images strait from my iPod with no worries at all. This is really great for viewing slideshows as I do not need to keep swapping disks as I can just stream the images from my iPod. I find this feature also saves me on disk usage as I can now view all my home made images on a DVD player without the need to burn the images to a disk. This has saved me a countless number of disks as I often take many stills for slideshows in my Media Studies classes as well as my photography and film classes.

This is the latest portable DVD player from Phillips that is designed more to save on price than to include all the latest features. This does not mean however that the quality of what you...

portable dvd player 8-in dcp850 philips
Review of Philips Philips DCP850 by
jupiter28
Advantages: quality of image is like watching normal tv/dvd, IPOD classic docking
Disadvantages: can't think of any
...I was looking for a dvd player to take while travelling abroad. The philips DCP range was actually quite new and had only been out a couple of months. In addition this bay lets the IPOD classic integrate as part of the unit and is flush so you can't tell. when you are not using the IPOD docking you can store the remote there.
The remote is very handy and perfectly sized with the same functions as you would have in a normal DVD player
The quality is as good as any normal TV/dvd combo so there is no compromise on the viewing experience. I spent all my time in airport watching my home tv shows. The speakers are really good too and do not compromise the viewing experience at all
It is a fantastic unit for travelling and I highly rate it, is tough enough to take knocks while travelling but treat with care...

Brilliant portable DVD player
Review of Shinco 1731A Portable DVD Player by
rollerskaterabbit
Advantages: Looks great, plays great, lots of accessories, multiregion
Disadvantages: no free headphones
...I frequently travel on the train for 3 hour journeys each way so I wanted a portable DVD player to stop me being bored rigid. I happily chose the Shinco 1731A portable DVD player for the following reasons
1) The seven inch model was small, easily portable but the colour ActiveMatrix TFT screen didn't seem too small when watching films on the train. THe screen also has a 400:1 contrast ratio giving really clear pictures.
2) I wanted a multiregion portable DVD player so I could use all formats (1-6). This DVD player also plays other formats, including DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, JPEG and Kodak Picture CD. The Shinco also has multi language/angle/subtitle capability, zoom play and programmable play and comes with a tiny remote control.
3) I wanted a portable DVD player that I could use with my TV set at home...

Philips DVD Recordable - Right choice?
Review of Philips DVD Recordable DVDR890 by
Niburu
Advantages: Easy to manage, good quality recordings
Disadvantages: Format issues (see below)
...Without most of us really noticing a thing, the recordable DVD market has progressed in leaps and bounds. Could it be time to banish your video machine to the fiery depths of the electronic abyss? Read the review and then some important info on DVD Formats.
Philips DVDR880/890
Both very similar machines, just varying slightly in price and features and like the new released models by Philips, they have been good sellers in a volatile and suspicious market.
Features -
Turn the first few pages of the manual and you would forgiven for believing you have purchased a stylish looking VCR. On closer inspection, the large gaping cassette hole has been replaced with a CD draw and all those analogue outputs with digital ones.
Like modern VCR’s, the Philips range include the usual VideoPlus, PDC, timer recording, One Touch Recording...

It's not Philips PET, it's mine...
Review of Philips PET700 by
Evil_Irish_Twin
Advantages: small, compact, great quality and lovely looking!
Disadvantages: lowish volume, slight noise from loaded disc
...Thanks Ciao for accepting my product hehe
Philips PET700 7" portable DVD player
I am a massive DVD fan, all my old video collection had now been updated to disc, and I generally try to watch as many as I can, fitting it in around work and of course, my time on Ciao. This usually happens at night, when I can’t sleep, where I trudge downstairs to my sitting room, cup of tea in hand, and settle down to a few hours of intense film watching.
Most of my friends know this about me, it’s not a secret that I have certain weird night time habits. It normally follows with a text to the best friend telling her if it was good or bad, and by the next day most our group of friends know that I was up at x time in the morning watching x film.
So for Christmas, one lovely friend decided the best thing for me was a portable DVD player...

Hi DVD, Bye VHS, RIP Betamax
Review of Member Advice on DVD Players by
oblivious0r
Advantages: High Quality Picture, Audio, Special Features
Disadvantages: New Technology On The Way
...available. The last time I went to Tesco I saw DVD players for £20 but they were by a less reputable brand than you'd expect. But even some of the best brand DVD players will be priced under £60 due to the amount of competition on the market right now. A brand like Philips or Sony probably some of the best electronics brands you can get retail their DVD players for under £50 with the "Philips DVP 520 DVD Player" for £49.99 on amazon while the "Sony DVP-PQ2 DVD Player" is £34.99 on amazon.
But price isn't always the main factor in your decision making in purchasing a DVD player, there are many ways in which you can watch DVD's, with a dvd player, with a portable dvd player, with your games console or on your personal computer. If you like playing games and watching DVDs then a good idea would be to get an Xbox or Ps2 but t | | |
