Philips Senseo Coffee Maker - a coffee lovers heaven

Advantages: Perfect coffee at the press of a button
Disadvantages: Pods can be hard to find at times

...when my dear husband walked in with a little present for me ( bless him!!) - a Phillips Senseo coffee maker. It didn't take long for me to realise that my search was over and I had found the coffee machine of my dreams. A coffee machine that looks good, is incredibly easy to use, very easy to clean and most important makes a perfect cup of coffee every time at the touch of a button. Six years on my senseo is still going strong ( and believe me it is VERY well used), my only problem was when I dropped the water reservoir on the stone floor and broke it. I was able to get a replacement from Phillips for £10 and I just about managed to get through the week it took to arrive without my Senseo coffee. The Senseo coffee machine is made by Phillips with an input from the coffee makers, Douwe Egberts. There are four varieties...

A COMMON SENSE(O) COFFEE MACHINE

Advantages: Super fast coffee delivery, Lovely fresh flavour, Compact design
Disadvantages: Pod's can be expensive if you do not shop around; Water tank needs to be filled with hot water

...with damp coffee and soggy filter papers hither and dither. I?d heard plenty of positive talk about the newer kind of machines available, those that delivered the steaming elixir I craved by way of a pod, carton or cartridge. A quick browse on the internet threw up a smattering of such machines; I quickly ruled out the Braun Tassimo (too expensive) and the Nescafe Dolce Gusto (too expensive and looks like a squatting duck), before I stumbled upon an appliance that would not leave too big a dent to my wallet, or offend my sensibilities by looking like an ugly behemoth on the kitchen counter. The coffee machine I eventually decided upon was the Philips Senseo - a fine looking pod based machine that sounded easy to use, simple to clean and the pods were not overly expensive but were readily available. A little price comparison work and I found one...

Makes Senseo

Advantages: Speedy cup of delicious coffee
Disadvantages: Not cheap

...the drains with coffee grounds which seems to be a speciality of mine. Just treat the pod as you would a tea bag and bin it after use. This latest gadget to grace our kitchen set hubby back £49.99. No doubt it will be half the price in a couple of weeks. For any gadgeteers it seems to be a pretty useful bit of kit at the moment though it would have been much cheaper to buy a new cafetiere as I broke the glass jug on ours recently. If you are a coffeeholic it is quite handy and quickly produces the stuff so I'm quite enjoying it at the moment. I'll let you know when the novelty wears off. If you want to know more about it and check if my description matches their picture, there is a website, www.senseo.com, devoted to this machine, where you can have a look at the beast/old man leaning on stick machine and learn more about how it...

Sense of using a Senseo

Advantages: Simple to use, very little mess
Disadvantages: Pods can be expensive. Water can collect under the machine

...Firstly I have to say why I got a Senseo and that will lead to another review and also point to the fact that, possibly, I did not do enough research into the "Coffee machines" market before I got this one, but having had a traditional filter coffee machine and a cafetiere I needed to move up a league. I first experienced the Senseo whilst staying at Center Parcs in Holland. The machine was installed in every kitchen in the self-catering apartments and villas and the pods were very cheap (about 1 euro) in the on-site store. There were several "sample" packs available and we tried them all before settling on the strongest available. The Senseo cups were just the right size and took the "double" cup serving easily. Having returned to the UK my birthday occurred and my wife bought me the Senseo machine, together with several...

Senseo Coffee Maker

Advantages: Quick, easy to use, price
Disadvantages: None

...My husband bought me the Senseo coffee maker for a Christmas present 2006, I must say it was one of the best things he has ever bought me.I love my coffee and have used it most days and more than once a day since. It is still going strong! The Senseo doesn't have all the fancy bits to it that other coffee machines do, but it makes a nice cup of coffee and is very easy to use. The coffee comes out hot, but not boiling (my mum was never impressed with it when she came over as she likes her coffees scolding). I have occasionally had trouble with leaks, but not very often. All in all, I like it. Its a good price and makes nice coffee, itt is also easy to clean, which is another bonus for me. You can buy the pods easily in supermarkets or online, where you get quite a wide selection. Although, the pods can be quite expensive in...

Senseo Coffee Machine

Advantages: Easy to use, nice coffee.
Disadvantages: Only one kind of drink can be made.

...I don't have one of these myself, but my mum and dad have one, and I use it alot when I'm there. They love this machine and I must say I love it too. Its so easy to use, and makes gorgeous coffee, the only bad thing I have to say about it is that you can only make plain coffee with it, unlike machines such as Tassimo and Dolche Gusto which you can make espresso, latte, mocha, hot chocolate etc, with this you can only make filter coffee. But, if thats all you want from your coffee machine then this is brilliant. The pods you use are relitively cheap, and you can get cheaper varieties of them rather than the Senseo ones which fit perfectly. Its fully automatic, meaning you just press a button and it dispenses the rigth amount of water for the cups, and you can make either one or two cups at a time unlike some other machines meaning it...

You know it makes Senseo.

Advantages: Great tasting coffee in 90 seconds !
Disadvantages: A little bit on the expensive side.

...When I recently received a phone call stating that I'd won a prize in a raffle I'd entered, I was fairly excited. When I found out that I'd won a coffee machine, I was a bit disappointed. (We already have a coffee maker that we rarely use, due to the effort of getting it out the cupboard, setting it up and cleaning it afterwards !). What I wasn't expecting, however, was the "Phillips Senseo" - the most up to date coffee machine available. The Senseo hit the shelves in the beginning of July, and is a joint product between electronic manufacturers Phillips and Douwe Egberts, who produce coffee. Their aim is to provide great tasting coffee in a quick and convenient way. Upon opening the box, you are presented with the coffee machine, a few loose parts and a bag of coffee pods. The machine itself measures approximately 13" x 12" x...

Sheer Taste Delight With Every Senseo-tion...!

Advantages: Makes a top notch brew
Disadvantages: Refills can be a bit pricey

...reusable pods. I did actually purchase a pack to try as I was slightly intrigued as to how it would work. The idea is that you have a pod shaped holder with a removable lid and you simply put your filter coffee into there and fasten the lid on and place it in the machine like a normal pod. I found that 1/ it wasn't as nice as the pods and 2/ they kept blocking up my machine so I did away with them as they only cost£2.50 on a buy it now. I would steer clear from these personally it may sound like a good idea but in practise not nearly as nice as the pods. Although there are a few different makers of the reusable pods, so maybe I was just unlucky and didn't get one of the better ones. Although I like the pods too much to try and find out, if you do please let me know on this matter. You can also actually buy specially designed senseo cups...

My spidey Senseo's tingling

Advantages: quality coffee at home
Disadvantages: Not many flavours

.... I still am. Our excitement lasted all the way home, and I simply had to try the glorious coffee making abilities of my new best friend. As always, the instructions are essential, but luckily Philips has supplied a quick-start guide. The machine needs to be 'flushed' before you can have your first coffee. This is a process of filling the removable back reservoir with water to fill the internal boiler. It's a quick and simple process and really no trouble at all. Once the button stops flashing, and is shining brightly your Senseo machine is ready to roll. Next you need to get out one of the coffee pods that have been provided with your machine and pop it in the pod holder. There are 2 pod holders in the kit, one to hold just one pod, and one with a two pod capacity. Almost inevitably, the formula is a pod per person. I was just having...

Sensational Senseo

Advantages: Easy to use, great coffee
Disadvantages: Pods quite pricey

...We got one of the Senseo coffeee makers for Christmas which didn't excite me as I'm a little sceptical of machines like this ever since I had a sodastream many years ago. Anyway, my wife unpacked it and made the first cup of coffee which looked too frothy but tasted absolutely fantastic. I was hooked from that moment. It's so easy to use, just fill the removable water reservoir, pop in a coffee pod, switch on and pour. There is a small or large cup option but I find that we need to use the large cup option to fill a normal mug. Senseo recommend that you use 2 pods for the large cup but we don't and the strength is just right. You can buy either medium or dark roast Senseo pods which costa round £2.20 for 18 pods - quite pricey but only if you drink loads of the stuff. The problem is that the coffee tastes so good that you end up...
