...Ahh Phillips CRT TVs were one of the best of their kind, in both picture quality and sound. Picture is all important to me and other than Pioneer and Panasonic modern LCD/Plasmas, not many others have reached the picture quality standard as the old CRT TV's did. However, this is superseded by Blu-ray and true HD for obvious reasons. You can connect external sound to it but you would not be able to use Phillip's own sound circuitry to control the volume unless it is a Philips brand. Motion and crispness of picture is second to none, with no flicker, it seemlesses plays documentaries at excellent detail. Add to this 100hz technology and possibly Phillips pixel plus, you have an excellent TV which, in my view, lasts and perfoms better than modern LCDs. Nevertheless, it is a great buy, and great to watvh in the comfort of your own...

65" HDTV Ready Rear Projection TV

Advantages: massive
Disadvantages: poor quality

...Great unit Better picture quality than the sonys and hitachis that I looked at. Only the Elite Pioneers were equal to it in performance but much higher in price. Could not be happier with it. Paired it with a Toshiba DVD 5109 and a Pioneer Elite tx26 and WOW what a blow you out of your socks system! Got mine in December. Only problem was a slight convergence irregularity which the defective part was replaced promptly All who have seen this unit comment on how it does not looke like a rear projection unit. I cannot see any scan lines at all even at close distances...

Philips Matchline Surround Sound TV

Advantages: Well priced, quality throughout

...I have owned a large screen Philips Matchline TV for over 5 years now and have had no trouble with it whatsoever, i can honestly say it's the best TV i have had the pleasure of viewing. You are probably thinking " i want a new TV, not a 5 year old one"? And you would be right. Although my TV is old they are still being manufactured and sold world wide. The Dolby surround sound is incredibly superior, even to Toshiba in my opinion, and the picture quality is still as sharp now as when i first purchased it. So what else has it got? You can collapse the screen for wide screen viewing, mix and change sound types and quality in 3 different modes, Dolby 3d Stereo, Dolby 4 way surround sound ( very good quality ) or mono. Each one has loads of variations including Phantom speaker and Wide sound. Overall it's a very good looking unit...

Sagem Projection tv 45"

Advantages: Clear picture, widescreen, amazing sound
Disadvantages: hard to see screen at an angle or in bright light

...i got the Sagem projection tv from a store that i can pay in installments, up untill then i'd never heard of a back projection tv. Its HD ready, resolution of 1280x720, 1 million pixels per colour, with two speakers on it that are 60 watts. its AV input/output is s-video x1, scart x3, and composite video x1. it supports NICAM stereo. My tv is silver, but comes in black too, it looks really nice and the remote is easy to work out, but a bit oversized. the remote takes 2 AA batterys. The telly has quite a large back, with a bigger flat screen which sits on a curved base that looks like the speakers. It looks like a flatscreen TV from the front, from the side it looks like a flatscreen with something attatched to the back. The tv cost £3000 in the store i got it from including tv stand, i'm paying £3400 as its in installments...

Advantages: Tidy

...I have a 15" widescreen LCD Philips TV, it was about £270 a couple of summers ago. I have had absolutely no problems with it. It has good picture quality, good sound and is rather stylish. he speakers are on each side of the screen and there are a couple of small lights at the bottom left speaker. The buttons are hidden along the top of the TV and are easy to distinguish and press. The connections are all hidden on the back under the TV tube, they are rather awkward to get to but easy enough to set up. It could do with another scart connection though. The picture is a bit fuzzy now and then, but I think that's the signal we get. Also, I do have a dead pixel and a small scratch on the screen that was picked up during transport. It also shows lines across the screen every now and then....

Philips Ambilight TV changes the whole viewing experience

...Im not someone who can go into technical detail, I can only tell you what I think of the TV from my personal experience, so here it is: My partner wanted one of these televisions for ages so at xmas we decided instead of buying each other presents we clubbed together & bought one. When we saw this TV in the shop we where a bit unsure as to how good the ambilight would be as we where not mounting the TV on a wall & every shop we went into displayed it like that. We threw caution to the wind & went ahead & bought one anyway & even though our TV is on a normal stand the lights work very well indeed. The picture quality of this TV is amazing & the ambilight glow that radiates from the sides of the TV makes the viewing experience even better. ...My previous TV, which was a 19" Mistubishi CRT TV finally bit the bullet, and to find a replacement I choose this Philips 26" Flat Screen HD Ready Monitor. My budget wasn't huge so I had to make do with what I could find bearing in mind a few necessities: - It must be HD Ready - HD content is becoming the norm in terms of gaming as well as movies and even TV programs. So it's ideal then that the New Music Express has introduced their own TV station - NME TV... Operated by CSC Media Group, it replaced the music channel 'Minx' in November 2007 - which is odd as I believe Minx was more a pop music channel that indie.
