Transformers tranform on to blu - ray

Advantages: Good film with excellent special effects

...good and evil, but with cutting edge special effects and action scenes galore this is a great film to watch. The blu-ray version i watched was a 2 disc set with the second disc full of extras. There was a section on the history of transformers, and interviews with executive producers Steven Spielberg and Brian Goldner, writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci, and director Michael Bay. There were also features on the animation used and the way they worked out where to do scenes. You also get a look at the military equipment seen and used in the film. This additional information is something you do not want to skip over, because it gives you a much deeper understanding of how much planning and work went into the final production. A good, pretty cheap blu-ray player!

Advantages: Brilliant Blu-ray player!
Disadvantages: Slow in downloading updates, Horrible menu system!

...this console mainly to play games because we have the Xbox for that which all-in-all i find a better GAMING console! However we use it as a blu-ray player, when we brought it, it was a relitively cheap, good quality blu-ray player comparitive to the others on the market at the same time and I have to say it is brilliant as a blu-ray player, plays all DVDs we have tried in truly stunning high quality HD! The menus however are not to my liking at all. So all-in-all I'd say if you were going to buy one of these buy it as a blu-ray player with the capabilities of playing games not as a games machine with the capability of playing blu-rays!...

A good Disney family film (Bolt Blu-ray disc)

Advantages: Rhino, Blu-ray and DVD with Rhino toy, good family watch
Disadvantages: Similar to other animated films

The Blu-ray makes the disc look very impressive at times especially with situations involving Bolt`s superpowers at the start of the film and the film is very well animated (as all Disney films are) and the computer effects all look very nice. The film is quite similar to other Disney films and as with all Disney films you know it will have a happy ending and it also works well for children and adults and is great to watch as a family. ***Summary*** Overall this is an excellent Disney film and an enjoyable watch as a family. The best character is Rhino who provides all the laughs and you also get a free Rhino soft toy with the Blu-ray version as well as the standard DVD which means you can watch it wherever you are if you have 1 Blu-ray player and about 5 DVD players! Reliable and well priced 2.0 Blu-Ray Player.

Advantages: 2.0 compatible, good looking, easy to use remote, good connectivity for price, excellent price.
Disadvantages: No optical sound output, no HDMI or ethernet cables included, need memory stick for 2.0

...This is the cheapest of the Philips range of Blu-Ray players, but it is also BDP 2.0, so you access the latest special features via the internet (as well as update the firmware) through an ethernet cable (remember to buy one). Advantages: Brilliant plot, excellent picture quality, solid audio, good special features.

The picture: The vast majority of Sony's Blu-rays look astonishing and are reference quality, with Vantage Point being no different. The Widescreen 2:40:1 presentation shows pristine picture quality consistently throughout the film. No grain whatsoever was present on my screen, and picture detail was also noticeably high. Everything from the sparkling sun on a warm summers day in Spain to the dark black of the assassin's sniper rifle looked was displayed brilliantly. I failed to view Vantage Point on a normal DVD, but I am sure that the Blu-ray picture would look far superior to the older format and would be worth upgrading for if you are a fan of the movie. Planet Earth Blu-Ray - a Mind Blowing Nature Series

Advantages: unbelievable visuals, stunning high definition, best wildlife series by far
Disadvantages: only one - last disc isn't HD

...Excellent value for money now you can pick this up for less than £25, I got mine from Play.com but you can find it on most online shops now, Amazon, eBay, etc. Stunning visuals and filmography coupled with David Attenborough's classic and informative narration, all add up to this unbelievably well made and engaging series, possibly the greatest wildlife/nature series ever made. Make sure you have a HDTV to watch this on for the best experience, as it really does need to be seen to be believed. Unfortunately, disc 5 is only a standard definition DVD, which is the only thing stopping this fantastic series getting 5 stars from me. However, don't let this put you off, as disc 5 is only the making of, and similar featurettes, meaning all nature footage is in HD on Blu Ray disc. A good Blu Ray player at a reasonable price

Advantages: Vibrant picture, reasonable price.
Disadvantages: Some 'jerkiness'. Limited SD Card and Divx capability. Some expected formats not accepted.

...I am using this player with a 720p 37 inch TV screen viewed from around 3 metres and I have to say the picture quality is very impressive. The colours are vibrant, the detail fantastic but I have noticed some panning shots are not smooth on blu ray. I have also tried it on a 720p 42? screen and compared blu ray discs with the same films on DVD (through an upmarket DVD player). The difference in sharpness and colour are very noticable but the DVD versions do not exhibit the panning issue (they are smooth). The BD35 upscales ordinary DVDs well. Be aware that the player does not play all disc types/formats (some are obvious ? it will not play HD discs or cartridge discs; but others are less obvious ? eg it will not play DVD-R/W version1, Video CD & SVCD, DVD audio). Kingdom of Heaven - all shiny in blu-ray

...My first experience with Kindgom of Heaven was at my house on a normal DVD, now my eyes have been opened. At a friends house we watched this on Blu ray and it was phenominal. The film itself bears little to fault, it is a good story with a range of different characters some likeable others not so. It is fast paced with a lot of bloody action that unfolds as the christians fight to hold Jerusalem. Orlando Bloom's portrayel of Bailin the blacksmith, (illigitimate son of a knight played by Liam Nesson (of whom i am a great fan) is good and we are introduced to his character and the background strait away. Die Hard 4.0 - THE BLU RAY EXPERIENCE - MUST SEE

Advantages: Fast paced action with great cast and special effects.
