Phoenix hotel, Copenhagen

Advantages: 4 star luxary, excellent breakfest, cheap deals if booked early
Disadvantages: smallish sized room

...So here we are traveling the globe and the Scandinavian is without doubt the most expensive for hostels and we were really struggling to find a hostel in central Copenhagen until my girlfriend stumbled upon this excellent hotel which worked out to be only a couple of pounds more expensive then the hostels in the area - but this one has of course a four star luxury status! The hotel is within easy walking distance of the city centre and of course a local metro stop which connects directly to the local airport. We made the short journey and located the street that the hostel was on easily. The hotel stood out on this quiet street as we arrived at 9pm and there was no one walking the streets and only one building as lit up - this was the phoenix. A decent but basic 2 star hotel near Bournemouth Pier

Advantages: Good value for money and good location.
Disadvantages: Based on the price, none.

...heating radiators, but also had openable windows which looked out on to the sea. Good wardrobe space, a dressing table and draw space. The bed was comfortable enough and the linen and pillows were of a good standard. The restaurant/bar was reasonable and the staff on reception were polite and helpful. I did not have a car but there was some car parking space outside but I don't know if this would incur an extra charge. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Bournemouth pier and a similar distance from Bournemouth town centre. Its abour 2 Km from Bournemouth Railway Station. Hotel stays in Bournemouth are quite expensive so I'd recommend The Russell Court as one of the better value 2 star hotels to stay at....

B&B perks at a big chain hotel in Phoenix

Advantages: Excellent hotel for small-scale conventions; spacious; love the full-scale breakfast, happy hour, fridge and microwave

If I was going to Phoenix just to sightsee, I would have chosen a haunted hotel like the Hotel San Carlos, but I was invited to Leprecon 29 and it was held at the Embassy Suites--Phoenix North location. Generally, it's harder for me to warm up to corporate hotels. They usually give courteous service, yet it is impersonal. The staff frequently lacks the pride of ownership an independently-run establishment does. Although the Phoenix North location is a big chain hotel with cookie-cutter decorated rooms, its amenities and perks make it stand out refreshingly different from others. Advantages: Food - Staff - Location - Everything

...Just back from a wonderful stay at The Star hotel in Kingussie. We stayed for a 5 night break in Sept. and cannot find fault. We were welcomed by the owner, and shown to our room. Good size, with large double bed, nice dressing table & warbrobe with plenty of space for all our walking gear. Tea & Coffe making facilities aswell as an iron & hairdryer. You can have the option of having a bath or shower, we chose bath, which was huge! Ample car parking behind the hotel which also doubles as a little beer garden. Breakfast & dinner included in price...and to be honest we have never eaten so much in our lives!!! Absolutely amazing especially for the price! ...My Husband and I have just returned from The Star Hotel, the hotel while being old fashioned it is extremelly clean and the staff very helpful and pleasant, the food is excellant I defy anyone to find better value for the money, the day before I arrived I injured my back and the girl on reception called Tanya kept heating my back pad in the microwave oven for me, she is a little treasure, on our second day we booked to return in March 2009 and we are looking forward to it, yes the hotel has no lifts but that is no problem, the portions of the food given are exceptional I'm sure I've put a stone on in the four days we were there. It is in a great location for seeing all other local sites, I can really recommend going to see the Reindeers just outside Aviemore a truly great experience...

A hotel with a split personality

Advantages: good location, good transport connections.

Well located, with staff who try that little bit harder. They don't do themselves any favours with the out of date website, and the Irish Pub theme as the only method of dining must put off alot of people. ...My primary reason for reviewing this DVD - oddly enough - isn't to do with the outstanding series, Phoenix Nights. Naturally, it would be impossible to review the DVD had the series not been made, but there is something else I want to praise. I've mentioned in other DVD reviews that the one advantage of this format over video is that producers can add all kinds of special effects. When the menu first appears, you hear Brian's voice squawking, "Jerry, I can smell smoke!" - I suppose this could get a little irritating if you listened to it too long, but there is so much to choose from. Where do you start? The navigation through the episodes is excellent - first you pick the episode then it is effortless to watch whichever one from . . . well, whichever chapter point you want, really - but if you go back to the main menu, there are...
