Developing your photos at Tesco
Advantages: Quick and Easy
Disadvantages: Can be more expensive and you cannot pay by cash at these machines
...I have found this service quite handy as now having a digital camera i tend to forget to develop my photos, which is a shame, and trying to hand your memory card over for someone to pick out the ones you want to develp can be quite stressful, which is why i use the self service photo developing. I have found it quite an easy self explanatory experience, you insert your memory card and follow the on-line instructions, you can either have the normal 4x6 prints, the option to select all photos or certain ones, you also have the option to re-size your photos as well. When selecting your photos it tells you how much it is costing you on the screen, so no nasty suprises at the end! You then simply pay for the selected photos by card at the machine and then your photos are printed while you wait, which i think is quite quick. The only down...

Why I'd never use Tesco Photo again
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: won't get your prints without major hassle
...I'm a photographer putting on my first exhibition, and decided to use Tesco Photo for my prints, as I've used them before, and was happy with their quality.
The exhibition was to be on the 28th of October, and so about a month before the exhibition I placed my first order for prints, and waited for delivery. A week later I was told one of the files uploaded was corrupted, and so they cancelled the entire order. Fortunately I'd given myself a month to get the prints done for exactly this eventuality. I re-uploaded the corrupt image, and placed another order.
On the next order, a different image was corrupt, even though I'd already submitted exactly the same set of files. After two or so hours of calls to Tesco Customer support, who were occasionally rude and often unhelpful I finally managed to find someone who said they'd look into it...

Tesco Online Photo Processing
Advantages: Earn Clubcard points, can have it delivered to your home or nearest store.
Disadvantages: Differing advice from their customer service.
...Overall Review
I didn?t use my local store when processing my photos or ordering gifts, I used the online photolab - http://www.tescophoto.com/wpp/tesco/welcome.jsp. One of the incentives to join is 10 free prints, although I?ve found a lot more online photolabs that offer you a much higher quantity of free prints. With Tesco photolab you upload your pictures into a chosen album with 200Mb free storage, you can choose which album you want to have and name each of them. You can also share your photos online but I didn?t choose to do this so don?t really know how to go about it. I am not on broadband so it took a wee while to upload each of my photos. I chose to have my order delivered to my door (You can have your photos delivered straight to your door or collect them from store, delivery details below) and had my order within...

Quick shop & a quick snap?
Advantages: Fairly quick, choice of print sizes
Disadvantages: Not quite hour service, couldn't find my piccies at first!
...MY EXPERIENCE:
I recently had to place no fewer than 10 disposeable cameras in for developing following our wedding and being eager to see the pictures.
I decided to use the newly refurbish photo kiosk at my local Teco store in Upper Boat, Pontypriddd.
Rather than bore you to death with store details, I will concentrate my review solely on the photo kiosk & my experience with the service developing my disposables & as I haven't experience their digitial photo devlpoing, I will refrain from commenting on this product.
The kiosk is locate inside the store, nbetween their lottery terminal and the cigarette counter, it is slightly set back from the other 2 counters. The counter has a terminal for people to use to pick and choose their digital snaps for developing, which is self service.
To get your pictures developed, you need...

Staff never seen a camera before??
Advantages: Money
Disadvantages: Time, quality, staff
...good service, but I think this could be improved. You can get your pictures developed from dispoable camera, digital camera, and scan your photos too. I have not used the other services, as I will use a different shop who has more knowledge of what they are doing.
Behind the counter, you can buy digital cameras, single use cameras, camera films, and photo paper etc. The only thing that needs to be improved is the customer service, and the way the staff have no idea of what to do and what's going on.
Overall, I think it is good for price, but I would rather pay extra at a more experienced store to get better photos, and pick photos up quicker....

Quality is what i want please!
Advantages: low prices, you can do your shopping as well, clubcard points
Disadvantages: staff lacking in knowledge
...Supermarkets they do everything don't they from baked beans to widescreen televisions and not to forget photo processing.Well having an hectic life and not a lot of free time i decided to give the service a go and here's what i found.
The Store-
The local Tesco store in our town is only a few years old and is situated local to our home thus making it very convienient to use.It is one of the Tesco extra stores(those are the ones that stay open for 24 hours and they not only sell food but a large amount of non-food items.
The photo section-
I must say that on first entering the store the photo section is not easy to find and is tucked away at the back of the store along with alot of the electrical items. On venturing further into the store the photo section becomes more visible with a nice...

High Street Photo Developers Worst Nightmare
Advantages: Glossy photo paper. Size 6x4 Excellent colour repoduction.
Disadvantages: Cannot leave printer when printing muliple photos.
...Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper
Paper Weight 255 g/m2
Paper Size 10x15cm (6x4in)
Pack Size 20 or 50 sheets
Fact Sheet Written in multiple languages
Made In Japan
Resolution Up to 1440 dpi
Product Code S041729
No more high street developers for me, at last i have found a photo paper that is compariable with the professionals.
You cannot rely just on the paper for good photo prints you also need a high megapixel camera and photo printer.
Camera Richo Caplio R1
Printer Canon Pixma IP5000
These have both been reviewed by me.
The photo paper is non-perferated so if your printer does not do edge to edge printing you would be better off going for the perferated type.
The paper is bright white and very glossy...

Poor Prints / Lost My Memory Card
Advantages: NONE
Disadvantages: Slow 2 day service is 5 day service / terrible quality prints / looses customers belongings
...Prints are not as they look. Colours are wrong and images looked quite smudged and as if they had alot of noise in the photos even thou they had no noise when printed on my home photo printer. As my Tesco store does not have a photo printing service instore they sent mine off suppose to be a 2 day service and it took 5 days on top of this when my prints came back they sent me back the wrong memory card they sent me a 1GB memory stick pro duo and i gave them a 2GB memory stick pro card that has a converter. I am now waiting hoping to get my card back with my holiday pictures on all 219 of them. If they don't i will be demaning compensation for the cost of them memory card which at the time costed £45. Plus my memory car is now in the hands of an unauthorised person who could use and distribute my images witohut my consent under copyright...

Jessops photo developing
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Very poor quality prints
...In the past I have been happy with Jessops developing my films, but having recently had two films developed at the Cambridge branch I wont be going back again.
Both films had a significant number of prints with white lines on one edge because the machine had either mis-cut or mis-printed them. On closer inspection I also noted that EVERY print had cropped a significant area (at least 10%) from around the edge of the photo (c.f. the negatives). On complaining the shop agreed to reprint the films for the white lines, but dismissed my other complaint ("oh yes we do crop film prints" - well thanks!!!)
The sets of reprints were incomplete. Therefore they had to do the missing photos again. When they came back, some of them exhibited white lines again, exactly the same as the first time (contrary to the shop's excuse that something...

Digital Photo Printing at Boots
Advantages: Quick and Easy Self Service - Quality - Professional
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest
...I have a digital camera, and keep my photos on my computer's hard-drive, but occasionally I like to get better and more interesting pictures printed, it just seems so much more natural to hold a real photo than look at it on the screen, plus it's better for showing them to people when a computer or TV isn't available, or giving photos to people who don't have a computer or DVD player. I recently therefore took a batch of my digital photos to Boots to get them printed.
Boots now have self service machines for digital photos, which allow either instant, 1 hour or 24 hour printing from various sources. This can be a memory card, a photo CD, or Infra-Red direct from a compatible phone or camera. This has 2 benefits over the old over the counter method, firstly you can keep the media that the photos are on, very useful if it's your only...
