Digital Photo Printing at Boots

...I have a digital camera, and keep my photos on my computer's hard-drive, but occasionally I like to get better and more interesting pictures printed, it just seems so much more natural to hold a real photo than look at it on the screen, plus it's better for showing them to people when a computer or TV isn't available, or giving photos to people who don't have a computer or DVD player. I recently therefore took a batch of my digital photos to Boots to get them printed. Boots now have self service machines for digital photos, which allow either instant, 1 hour or 24 hour printing from various sources. This can be a memory card, a photo CD, or Infra-Red direct from a compatible phone or camera. ...I have found this service quite handy as now having a digital camera i tend to forget to develop my photos, which is a shame, and trying to hand your memory card over for someone to pick out the ones you want to develp can be quite stressful, which is why i use the self service photo developing. I have found it quite an easy self explanatory experience, you insert your memory card and follow the on-line instructions, you can either have the normal 4x6 prints, the option to select all photos or certain ones, you also have the option to re-size your photos as well. When selecting your photos it tells you how much it is costing you on the screen, so no nasty suprises at the end! You then simply pay for the selected photos by card at the machine and then your photos are printed while you wait, which i think is quite quick. The only down...

...-emphasised and an oversimplified morality is forced down your throat. One Hour Photo is not a fast, exciting thriller, but is as slow, obsessive and ponderous as its main protagonist. Though it's been marketed as a thriller, I would call it more of a psychological drama. Personally I loved this aspect, but some viewers may be disappointed with the lack of action. It's not a great film by any means, but it's well worth watching for Williams' performance and for the fact that it ends by asking you, the viewer, a question. A quick look at One Hour Photo

Advantages: Robin Williams Performance
Disadvantages: None really

...I am not a big fan of pschological thrillers but i did really enjoy this one. The basic storyline is a lonely photo technician becomes obsessed with the family whose photos he has been printing for years. Robin Williams gives a wonderful performace as Sy the Photo Guy and a well written script really helps to keep the film going with it's creepy scenes as his obsession develops. You can't guess quite where the film will go next and the story progresses well. It has it's moments where you are in suspence and one piece which is quite disturbing, but i would still suggest it as a family film. (Just not for young children) Some moments are scarier than in horror because it is played out realistically and this is what makes it so good. ...The Epson Stylus Photo RX620 sits beside my iMac enthusiastically printing off the latest photo's of my son. As printers go its average in size, perhaps slightly bulky at 456 x 439 x 256mm, but considering that it is also a scanner/photocopier, its fairly compact. As I no longer work, my printers main function is purely printing of photo's hense, the reason why we purchased a photo printer and it performs its function with excellent results everytime.
