Great Shopping in Piccadilly

Starting off from Green Park tube station and working your way to Piccadilly Circus you will see Royal Doulton and Waterford Wedgwood ,both great places for wonderful bone china and crystal, proceed further and you will come across Fortnum & Mason.Located at No 181 Piccadilly F & N oozes elegance and style and even before you enter,take a peep at the very distinctive facade and particularly the mechanical clock above the entrance. Once inside the place soak up the atmosphere of luxury. Check out the incredible food hall. Little piece of land in a city centre

Disadvantages: Not as garden like as you expect with the name!

...I?ve lived in Manchester all my life and have seen it change in many ways over the years - probably one of the much needed changes in more recent years was the refurbishment of the Piccadilly gardens area. I say refurbishment but, really it is more like a ?makeover?! Where are Piccadilly gardens? It is located in Manchester city centre - slap bang next to the main bus stop area and within a few minutes walk of Piccadilly train station. The gardens are right across from Market street which is one of the main shopping streets in the city centre which leads to the Arndale and also to the famous King Street. What kind of garden is it? ... PICCADILLY GARDENS For the last four years I have driven past a sign that looks rather like a railway sign with the words 'Piccadilly Gardens' on as I have visited my local Boothes supermarket. And, to be honest, had not taken much notice of it. Two weeks ago, my garden was looking in need of a little tender loving care and as I passed the sign I noticed there was an extra sign about bedding plants; so I turned round and thought that I'd take a look. The cost of high living

...I had always thought of the Jarvis chain of hotels as something quite expensive and therefore had never really considered them as an option for city breaks. I usually manage to find something cheap but reasonable and prefer to spend money on eating out while away than on a posh hotel anyway. Two weeks ago, however, we decided at short notice to spend a couple of days in Manchester, a city I don't often get to. To cut along story short, the combination of expense, short notice and the lack of vacant rooms across the city left us with the option of the Jarvis Piccadilly. The hotel's website listed double rooms at £95 down from £129, but by booking through a discounted rooms website we got the room for £50.00 including breakfast. The hotel is ideally situated for a short stay in Manchester; five minutes walk from Piccadilly Station...

...Having experienced one good hotel in the Jarvis Chain, The Jarvis Picadilly was our choice for our weekend away to witness Spurs lose at Old Trafford. The footie may have been disappointing, but the hotel lived up to the quality reputation, save for a few minor mishaps. An oasis in a desert of concrete

...Piccadilly gardens used to be really messy, but it's loads better now . The council spent loads doing it up and now it's so much better. If you did visit it when it was a mess, I urge you to visit it again, as it is so different. Overview Basically, for those who haven't visited Manchester recently, Picadilly gradens is a stretch of grass (around 200m square) in the centre of Manchester. Would I stay again? Don't be silly!

Advantages: Unbeatable location
Disadvantages: Miniscule rooms, lack of attention to detail, poor customer service.

...It being Amanda?s birthday, and coincidentally being the end of a very gruelling ?OfSted Inspection? (ie the school inspectors had swooped on her school for a week!), I decided to treat her to a well-deserved weekend away in London. I decided to book via ?Priceline? and selected a five star hotel in London?s fashionable Mayfair.
