A Surreal Sound Of Modern Rock

Advantages: Intriguing Listen, Great Album, Intelligent Lyrics, Unique, Variety in sound

...I first heard this band on Jools Holland liked what i saw and bought their debut album. Here is what i make of it: Silversun Pickups have created a piece of work anomalous to anything i have ever heard before. "Carnavas" use of distorted guitars and synthetic electronic sounds creates atmospheric noise elements adding a surreal although mesmorising effect. The whole theme of the album is quite dreamy although changes throughout with Brian Auberts (Front Man) voice ranging from mellow and soothing to fierce and emotional. Nikki (Bass) also provides a different element to the album with her vocals presenting a sweeter and tendor side to the Silversun Pickups and again providing an even more intriguing listen."Carnavas" is not in any words perfect although i admire the experimentation in each track giving each song a personality meaning...

Fourtrak Pickup

...Some of you may think im confusing myself here and others may think I'm just telling porkies, but trust me, the Daihatsu Fourtrak Pickup does exist, although it is very rare. I think it's official model designation was the Daihatsu F70 Rocky or something like that. I've only ever seen two apart from my Dad's one, which is a shame because they're as solid a workhorse as you could possibly want. Single cab, 2.8 litre fuel injected diesel with selectable 4x4 makes for excellent towing and load carrying, while in 2wd mode it could cruise comfortably at 60-65mph. strong contender for best mid-range pickup

...Working on a 77km pipeline in the middle of nowhere, we were given Mitsubishi and Mazda pickups to use in the mud. With slush and mud sometimes getting up to two feet deep in certain places (not to mention what tractor treads can do the bare earth) this pickup worked marvelously. With the non-turbo charged assigned to the general staff, I was only able to drive the non-turbo version. The L200s (when fitted with all-terrain tyres) had a higher ground clearance than the Mazdas and moved through the mud rather easily. Of course, this is NOT the pickup for serious offroading (get a Hummer), it can get you there. Towing and pulling other equipment was not the easiest thing for this pickup to do, because even though the pickup will go anywhere you wanted, it will crawl to get you there. ...There are several versions of the LP Special. The older models have P90 pickups, some have single cutaway, some have double cutaways. The reissue models have P100 pickups, or humbuckers, like the guitar pictured. Since the one I own has P100 pickups, I do not know about the guitar in the picture! The P90 and P100 pickups look the same, but the P100 is a humbucking design, while the P90 is single coil. Sometimes these are called "soapbar" pickups, especially if they have cream covers - they have cream or black covers, depending on the guitar they are fitted on - usually black on a LP Special. My Amazing Guitar

...I got this guitar as a christmas present last year and it is awsome! Its based on the Gibson SG and its looks amazing. I love my guitar and it is great. It is made of mahogany and is cherry red with a black pick guard. It feels great while holding it and playing but i must say its very top heavy. The fretboard is made of rosewood with tapazoid inlays which i think looks great. The pickups are 2 humbeckers which give a really good full sound which is great for what i like to play (lostprophets, Blink 182, Oasis, really a bit of anythin but im not into all that really heavy metal). It has 22 frets which is 1 more than my old stagg guitar. it has 3 setting for the pickups a rythm, a treble and a mix between the two of them. ...I bought my pickup from Mackay trading in Edinburgh as a friend had just bought a similar one and his looked great and he was full of praise for it. It was an import from Cyprus but I was told it was UK spec. In fact it was UK road legal but the specification was lacking that of the UK dealership models in that it did not have Air Conditioning or Airbags. These omissions did not cause me any problems as I am happy to open a window if I get too hot and I have no intention of using airbags! The Mazda B2500 is the same vehicle as a Ford Ranger. Purchase cost By the time I had bought a canopy and load liner and a decent towbar I paid about £13000 plus VAT. Three humbuckers

Advantages: Looks fantastic

...This was the second decent guitar I bought. I learned to play on a Les Paul copy, but the poor high fret access and weight meant that this guitar was difficult to play live. So an SG seemed an obvious progression, and why not a top-of-the-range Epiphone? The first thing that I noticed when took it out of its box was the colour. In the magazine it looked kinda vintage-white, but it looks much more yellow in real life. The playability of this guitar is very good. The neck is faily chunky, which suited me as a Les Paul devotee. The high fret access is virtually second-to-none, and the general feel of the neck is quality. When plugged in, the G400 excels. The pickups are pretty good for the price, if lacking a little in top end. I always play with the middle pickup turned off, though. "Surely that's the point of the Custom" I hear you cry...
