...beyond our budget if it wasn't for the Clubcard vouchers that are worth four times their face value, but after much debate and research we plumped for Port Bourgenay, run by Pierre et Vacances, as it looked like it was in a perfect location, is close to the beach, and there seemed to be a lot to do. It cost somewhere in the region of £1000 for the accommodation (£250 in deals) for seven nights and £300 for the return ferry. ~*~ Location ~*~ We live in the south west, so a Portsmouth - Cherbourg crossing is ideal for us. We always get the earliest ferry (around 9am) so we arrive in France around 3pm which gives us plenty of time to drive to our accommodation and settle in by bed time. Or so I thought! Pierre et Vacances - great holidays in France

Advantages: holiday apartments, ideal for families, a lot of activities
Disadvantages: expensive extras

...Vacancy was a film I actually only saw a few months back, even though the film had been out for some time prior to this. Vacancy starts the gorgeous Kate Beckinsale, and Luke Wilson, brother of Owen Wilson. The film opened in April 2007; however it wasn't a smash hit horror film only ranking in as high as number 4. Plot: David and Amy fox, a married couple are driving back from a counselling session, when during the middle of the night their car breaks down in some random, unknown area, near the LA region. ...Vacancy is a movie which has Luke Wilson and Kate Beckingsale as its main parts David and Amy. The film is supposed to be a horror/thriller, but when I first saw it advertised on the television I really could not take the time to go down to my local cinema and watch it, for the following reasons: - • There is a different horror movie realized every week and three quarters of them are pathetic and I don't enjoy. • Films come out on DVD so quickly that even if I wanted to watch it that much, it would be so much that I can't wait for its DVD release. • Kate Beckingsale is lovely and very beautiful, and Luke Wilson is one of my favourite actors (he and his brother Owen) but I couldn't personally see them pulling of the thriller story, especially not as a stage couple, don't ask, I just had a feeling! • The story...

Etre et Avoir - it's all French to me...

...The Film It's hard to put your finger on what exactly it is that makes "Être et Avoir" (To Be and To Have) such a magical, heartwarming and compelling film. First released in 2002, and newly released on DVD with English subtitles in June 2009, the film has enjoyed critical acclaim and international success, in my mind for good reason. On the face of it the subject matter doesn't seem that promising, a documentary maker, one Nicolas Philibert, followed the progress of a class in a primary school in France for six months. This, however, is no reality TV special - somehow the director has managed in this film to capture something special and even the subtitles don't detract from what is a beautifully shot insight into the lives of the children and their teacher. I had given my big food processor to my daughter when she moved out as I never used it. I kept a little hand mixer and a blender. The blender died so I replaced it with a cheap one from Tesco which was total rubbish so after the third replacement I asked for my money back. Now I only had a hand mixer which wasn't that useful for soups hence looking for something small that would do the job. ...I've owned my ET4 Vespa since March 02. My first taste of real freedom and it was exhilarating. Knowing the bike was out there ready to take me anywhere I wished. Riding it so often I have many things to talk about and have pretty much exhausted it's offering. It was simple to get used to, the twist and go throttle lets you concentrate on things going on around you instead of tying up your mind deliberating with clutch and gears. Once the bike is warmed up it provides ample oomph with a flick of the wrist to get off the lights faster than most cars. 0-30mph is relatively rapid, 30-50mph needs more time, 50-70mph how long have you got? It can tackle big A-roads and motorways... I've tried, but the windblast will get you aching pretty quickly, it's forte is in the city.
