The End of the Piers Show?
Advantages: We vote for the politicians who will do our dirty work
Disadvantages: Most left book in hotel rooms.
...Piers Morgan, like the ridiculous ?Jordan?, is one of our most iconic and inflated tabloid tits, ridiculed not only for the way he ran the News of the World and the Daily Mirror but for the weasel he appears to be, an essential requirement to run a British tabloid it seems, men that puke up what they write after ten pints. So why would anyone want to read a book about his life running those tabloids? Well the answer, of course, is access. This is a guy that had the Prime Ministers ear for ten years and pretty much anyone else?s in the Labor party, a close alliance with the paper formed many decades ago. He was there from day one when Blair came in to number ten and also covered the sad Princess Diana decline and 911, two of the biggest stories of the second half of the twentieth century, and Morgan intimate with many of those bigger...

God Bless Piers!
Advantages: interesting stories, a lot of fun parts, his hatred for George Bush!
Disadvantages: Some name dropping!
...As it was my birthday last month I was inundated with new books, not that I am complaining but I just now need a few extra hours in each day to get through them all. I decided that I would read this one first as I did need a break from Harry Potter as I was getting Potter overload!
For those of you who don?t know Piers Morgan is an ex-newspaper editor and he is now a judge on Britain?s Got Talent and also the equivalent show in America. He also still writes articles for a variety of papers and magazines.
This book is entitled God Bless America and it is a diary which piers starts on 23rd October 2006 and he continues to write until 5th November 2008. He talks about his time in America and how he spends his time going back and forward between the countries. Piers does talk about how he initially hated America and thought that all...

Brighton Pier
Advantages: Free entry
Disadvantages: Gets very crowded
...Seaside piers seem to be a very British tradition and there are many different examples to be found in England and Wales, although oddly none exist north of the border in Scotland. Brighton's pier is one of the most famous of them all. Officially known as The Brighton Marine Palace Pier or the Palace Pier for short it officially opened in the May of 1899. By this date the Victorians and their predecessors had already built many other piers, including two earlier ones at Brighton.
Brighton's first pier was constructed in 1823. This was known as The Royal Suspension Chain Pier and still existed in 1891 when construction of the Palace Pier began. At this time the Chain Pier was considered to be unsafe and was in a state of disrepair so one of the conditions attached to the construction of the new pier was that this old one was demolished...

An interesting read
Advantages: Scandals & gossip
Disadvantages: Too many political issues
...I didn't know much about Piers Morgan before I read this book, all I knew was he used to be the editor of the Daily Mirror & little else. This book, which is not written in a diary format, allows the reader to enter a world little of us have much contact with. You may read the end result every day, but Morgan's paints an interesting picture in the life of a newspaper editor.
It starts off roughly around the time he was editor with the News of the World working with such people as Alistair Campbell & takes you through his bizarre interview with Rupert Murdoch to land the job as Daily Mirror editor at the tender age of 28, which in its self is quite an achievement.
The Mirror was (and still is) a mouth piece for the Labour Government so Morgan was always made privy to important information that people such as Tony Blair, Gordon Brown...

Behind the scenes at a tabloid newspaper.
Advantages: Interesting insight into tabloid newspapers, and big news stories over the years.
Disadvantages: You may dislike Piers Morgan
...I'm an avid reader, mostly of fiction. However, one night I felt like reading something a bit different. Rummaging through my chest of un-read books I came across Piers Morgan's book which I'd bought months earlier from Tesco, for £3.73.
**About Piers Morgan**
Piers Morgan began working in newspapers after studying journalism at Harlow College, and was given his own showbiz column 'Bizarre' in The Sun. He was offered the job of Editor at the News of the World in 1994 by Rupert Murdoch, at the age of 28 - becoming the youngest Editor in over 50 years. The following year he became Editor of the Mirror and often ended up being in the newspapers himself. He finally lost his position in May 2004 after publishing photos of British Troops abusing prisoners in Iraq, which turned out to be fake.
In 2005 Piers Morgan bought the Press...

Inside Story
Advantages: The events of 1994 to 2004 written about from the perspective of a tabloid editor.
Disadvantages: Although in diary format it wasn't written as a diary.
...I didn't buy this book and if it had been up to me it wouldn't have come into the house. I don't read tabloid newspapers and Piers Morgan has been editor of two of them. I don't like gossip (unless it's particularly juicy) and I'm not keen on giving money to people who make a good living out of selling it. Still, the book was there and I thought I might as well have a look just to see how dreadful it was.
Er, I couldn't put it down and read it cover to cover in less than forty eight hours despite being rather busy at the time!
At the age of 28 Piers Morgan was appointed editor of The News of the World. He'd been working on The Sun where he dropped his double-barrelled surname and caught the eye of Rupert Murdoch. Morgan was probably as surprised as anyone to get the job but it was the beginning of the eleven years which he...

Diary of a Tabloid Editor
Advantages: You get to see into the mind of a tabloid editor.
Disadvantages: You may not like what you see.
...Piers Morgan was promoted to Editor of the News of the World in 1994, after working for the owner in a relatively junior capacity. While there he was headhunted by the Daily Mirror, and as he preferred to be the editor of a daily, was pleased.
He kept notes of his ten years as editor of both papers, and after he was sacked from the Daily Mirror job, wrote this book. He thanks his ex-employers for giving him the time to write about his experiences.
I would most recommend this book to people who read tabloid papers, so that they can find out what motivates the journalists, and also to would be journalists, so that that can learn some of the tricks of the trade.
I haven't read any individual paper regularly recently, as I prefer the internet and television sources of news, because they are capable of being kept more up to...

Behind The Mirror
Advantages: It held my attention and made me laugh.
Disadvantages: I'm admitting to liking something written by Piers Morgan.
...This is an autobiographical journal about the ten years that Piers Morgan was an editor of national newspapers, 1994-2004.
Morgan regards himself as having been a lucky young man, "who rode his luck until his luck finally ran out." In defence of the things he did that, with hindsight, he is not proud of, he says that he defies anyone who is handed the job of editing the biggest selling newspaper in the world at the age of 28, not to become, "a rather cocky little git".
I didn't want to read this book. I have never wasted my money on buying the News of the World or the Mirror, which are the two papers the author has edited. Although I have looked at them, when others have bought them, I have seen nothing to change my mind.
So I started to read this book, against my better judgement, because a friend persuaded me to give it...

The North Pier, Blackpool
Advantages: Lots of fresh air, fully accessible by disabled visitors
Disadvantages: A small admission charge
...If you think about the main English seaside resorts then the chances are that they will have a pier. There is something very quintessentially English about seaside piers and in Britain they are largely restricted to England, with a handful in Wales and none at all north of the border in Scotland.
Blackpool in the north west of England is unusual because it boasts three different piers. The North Pier, Central Pier and South Pier. As its name suggests The North Pier has the most northerly location of the three. It is also the oldest pier in the town and at 503 metres long it is also its longest pier.
Eugenius Birch was drafted in to design The North Pier. He had been responsible for the design of Britain's first seaside pier at Margate. This was his second pier project and following its success he would go on to design a further...

Captain Morgans Revenge
Advantages: Pirate metal just rules
Disadvantages: one iffy song
...Alestorm Captain Morgans Revenge
Alestorm are a pirate metal band from Perth, Scotland. Captin Morgans Revenge was released last year (2008) with Napalm records.
The Band
Christopher Bowes - Lead/Backing Vocals, Keyboards, Tin Whistle
Gavin Harper - Lead/Rhythm/Acoustic Guitars, Jew's Harp, Additional Drums, Tambourine; Backing Vocals
Dani Evans - Bass Guitars
Migo Wagner - Session Drums; Backing Vocals
The band are awesome pirate metal is one great genre, I dont listen to it often though. Personally I do prefer this bands latest album, Black Sails at Midnight (Keelhauled and Wolves of the sea best songs ever) but this album has its good qualities.
Track One
Over Seas 5/5
Now as it is pirate metal when ever I listen to this band I immediatley think of Pirates of the carribbean and wonder what scene...
