Eden Lake

Advantages: Powerful horror, genuinely scary
Disadvantages: Sickening to watch

...It took me at least a week to come to a semi conclusion of how I felt about Eden Lake; it took me a few days at least to get over the initial shock and emotion felt by watching it. And I have to say that the film I am about to review is like nothing I have seen before. Eden Lake, is an English film directed by a man called James Watkins, I had never heard of the film nor the director and I was not that enthusiastic about watching it, but after a day moping about alone I wanted something scary to watch and it was in the horror section of my local movie shop at a price of £4 so I thought I would give it a watch. The Lakes: Quiet and Serene?

Advantages: Brilliant acting, great storylines and scripts
Disadvantages: Lack of extras on the DVD lets this set down

A Lake with a myth - Lake Kournas, Crete

Advantages: Beautiful clear freshwater lake, need a car to get there
Disadvantages: expensive sun loungers and large slippery stones to negotiate before being able to swimg

...We drove from Gerani near Rethmynon to Lake Kournas in about 15 minutes, it is just off the main highway near Georgiopilis on Crete. The road meanders around and then you come to a tiny signpost pointing down between two house only just wide enough for a car to squeeze through. We turned in thinking that this must be a mistake, but it was indeed the road. No wonder all cars on Crete seem to have some scrape or other on their body work. I am pretty certain that having a car is the only way of reaching this sight. When we arrived there was plenty of parking under trees for shade just near a tavern. We did notice that as we were leaving at about 2pm that there were not so many spaces so going early was a good plan. Advantages: multi surface cleaner which can be used diluted or neat
Disadvantages: aome may dislike the smell

...Lake Titicaca is situated on the border between Peru and Bolivia and is famous for being (arguably) the highest navigable lake in the world (3812m above sea level). Even though that definition may be a tiny bit subjective, (there are higher lakes in the world and some boats can navigate in only a few inches of water), you shouldn't question that claim too loudly it if you visit - this lake is home to the flotilla of the Bolivian Navy (pretty impressive, given that Bolivia is landlocked!). ...I watched Eden Lake earlier this year, hired from lovefilm, after checking out recommendations on there and also because a friend said it was pretty good. A couple, Jenny and Steve, visit Eden Lake, which is about to be taken over by an apartment complex. Steve took Jenny there as it is a secluded, romantic spot and he was planning on proposing. They were having fun, enjoying their quiet time together. Until a group of youths turn up that is and their quiet time is disrupted by loud music, noisy kids and a barking dog.
