...Pioneer DEH-30 MP I bought this car stereo around 2 years ago for my car as I wanted something that sounded better than the standard stereo. I bought mine from Motor-mania for around £150.LCD blue screen and reads out what ever it is playing at the time. I think it has really good quality sound even when the volume is on high. It plays any CDs including MP3 and even ones that are slightly scratched play just as well on this CD player. Pioneer DEH4000UB Fantastic, a real bargain if you shop around.

Advantages: Impressive for the money, especially through 'Twenga'.

...I bought the Pioneer DEH-4000UB recently as a replacement for the standard radio/cassette in my BMW 3 series. I have never been impressed with the BMW stereo (Phillips), and assumed that perhaps the speakers were as much to blame as the head unit. I toyed with the idea of fitting a CD multi player in the boot, but they can be very expensive. ...First of all I apologise that this is in the wrong category, but I have asked and asked for the correct one to be added to no avail! Since I bought my car in 2000, I have just had a bog standard radio cassette fitted, and either plugged in my portable CD player when I wanted to play CD's. This was not ideal, as it meant the unit was not as stable, and the quality was nowhere near as good. Feature packed Pioneer

Advantages: Sound quality, 3 pre-outs, MP3 + WMA playback.
Disadvantages: Model now discontinued.

...I have had many in-car head units, Sony, Kenwood and various other Pioneer models but this model does everything i need from a head unit. I have had this for about 4 years now, and is frankly head and shoulders above most head units i have had before. You don't now need to spend £200 - £300 on a head unit, and thankfully prices have come down significantly in the last few years and an equivalent model should now set you back about £150. My current set up comprises of Pioneer DEH-P7500MP head unit, Kenwood amp 60 x 2 driving a pair of pioneer 6.5" speakers on rear shelf, an audison amp 220w x 1 driving a 10" Pioneer sealed sub box in the boot and factory fit Ford speakers driven by internal amp (50 x 4) on head unit. Pioneer DEH-3130R - What a blast

Advantages: So many functions, great quality sound

...Firstly my Pioneer CD player is the DEH-3130R slightly different to the category its in but i think mine is just the older version of this. I've had this system for about 2 years now and have had a few problems with it. It was even sent back to Pioneer with a fault however it turns out that it was my car electrics that was causing the problem and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the CD player in the first place. So do not let my bad experience deter you. Other than this i have no complaints with this at all. I did have this installed at Halfords for me as it saved me a job, but i have taken it out myself since and have checked out the instruction manual which is clear and detailed so i don't think initial installation is too difficult. Advantages: cheap and cheerfull, pioneer name

...Ok so for people on a budget that cant spend in excess of £150+ this head unit may be for you. It may not look the most safisticated piece of kit but the sound quality is excellent, would you expect anything else from pioneer?? For the price it is fully loaded with features including BMX technology which pumps a little life into flat compressed files, EEQ equalizer and it plays cd-r, cd-rw and also mp3, wav and wma formats. It has one rca pre-out on the back for hooking up your amp and it has a input for a remote which you have to buy seperatly. When you receive a call, the stereo automatically adjusts to telephone mode and, if you want it to, answers the call for you. The phone call is then played through your car speaker system.
