Pioneer DV-600AV quality for good price

Advantages: High quality video, supports many formats
Disadvantages: Confusing labels on remote controller

...Pioneer DV-600AV was interesting for me because it has possibility to play DVD-Audio and SACD and it has got integrated decoder with analog output for 5.1. Extra interesting is the quality of sound which some DVD players are having bad quality. Quality of sound was pretty good with nice serve of acustic which i wasnt able to heat on my older players. I/O Back side includes HDMI, component Video, S-video, audio 5.1, scart, optic and koaxial output. On the front panel is placed conector USB 1.1 for USB devices. There should be more conectors, but on the other hand we shall be glad that none of the important connectors is missing. Extern USB devices are not supported as manufacturer has written. In the real it is working with no problems:) I tried from flash disk Kingston Data traveller II. It is possible to play mp3 with variate...

Silver disc player!!

Advantages: Good sound, good picture
Disadvantages: Maybe not top quality CD playback

...Our CD player finally started to play up too much just before Christmas and so we decided to get up with technology and purchase a DVD Player rather than a replacement CD. After weeks of searching the electrical superstores we finally found somewhere with some knowledge and we purchased this Pioneer DV-370 model. As we searched through the shops it became increasingly apparent that most of the manufacturers of DVD players have only one colour of paint in their stock rooms ? silver. We really wanted a black one to match the rest of our hi-fi system. So we were really pleased when we found this model as it is black!!! Size wise it is 16.5?x9?x2.5? which means it is not too wide for our hi-fi cabinet ? there is a massive different in widths amongst (and within) all the makes on the market. It is a matt black with 4 small black feet...

Pioneer DV525 or DV535

Advantages: Cheap, good picture and sound, multi region(if chipped),Plays all CD's
Disadvantages: None for me

...I couldnt find a place to write about the Pioneer DV-535, but as the only difference between the two models is that the DV-535 is black and the DV-525 is silver & doesn't have an optical out. This seemed as good a place as any. I have read some reviews on this site and others, and like most people did a fair bit of research on forums etc. This is a very good DVD player for the money. I brought a multi region one from richer sounds for £207 including 3 years warranty. It is reasonably straight forward to set up and plays cd's (both shop bought and those i have ripped on the computer). The remote is easy to understand and the whole thing is a cinch to set up. The player is automatic in detecting most region 1 DVD's, but if it doesn't then it can be remote hacked as well I have heard a lot of people talk about the noisy DVD drawer when...

A Comprehensive Guide to the Pioneer DV-717

Advantages: Excellent value, picture, audio
Disadvantages: None

...horizontal colours which defines the very small picture details providing an even sharper image. The audio capability of the player is excellent incorporating Dolby Digital with Virtual Dolby Surround to create an amazing effect that surrounds in ?an envelope of dynamic, realistic sound?. The player also offers ?Hi-Bit Legato Link Conversion?, a unique piece of technology that creates the expansion and general presence of a sound to make it much more realistic to its original production. The remote control unit is well designed with a good button layout; it can also be used to control other Pioneer audio and video units as well. The player will speak in most languages and will allow up to 8 soundtracks and 32 sets of subtitles, so you can watch the film in any language that it was recorded in. It also offers 9 different viewing angles...

Pioneer strikes DVD gold with the DV-626D

Advantages: Mindblowing sound, Explosive picture and feature packed - at a great price. Buy it.
Disadvantages: Nothing significant at this price

...Pioneer is well respected manufacturer for top quality home cinema products, and it ranks amongst the top few manufacturers of DVD players, up there with Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic. Pioneer is well known for impeccable build quality and excellent performance and the DV-626D is a brilliant example of just what Pioneer can do. After searching though review magazines and browsing the internet, I decided the pioneer was the one to go for. Main features include onboard Dolby Digital and DTS decoders, duel laser pickup, Pal/NTSC output, Digital noise reduction, conditional memory, Virtual Dolby Surround... I know what you're probably thinking... WHAT??? So I'll go through them as best as I can to make things a little clearer. One of the main features of DVD is its ability to hold surround sound soundtracks. This means that...

Pioneer DV-350

Advantages: Slim design, excellent picture, full remote
Disadvantages: None

...I bought the Pioneer DV-350 as a birthday present to myself in December 2002, and have not been disappointed. The slim silver design is uncluttered and gives it a modern look that is unlikely to date quickly. I paid about £110 at Richer Sounds, Birmingham. I got a decent SCART lead at the same time. As far as I know, this exact model is no longer produced but second hand ones are available for less than £60. There may well be new ones lying around, so it?s worth looking. With the continued tumbling fall of DVD players and cheaper DVD Recorders, those looking for their first player could be inundated with choices but I hope you feel you can read on. Other reviews state that the player is multi-regional. I?m sure this is the case, but I bought mine on the understanding that it was only Region 2. In other words, would only play...

Another winner from Pioneer...

Advantages: High playback quality, easy to use and available in black!
Disadvantages: Occasional SCART problems on startup, no "display off" option, sometimes too good!

...Pioneer have been in the home cinema market for longer than most, and it shows in their most recent offering of DVD players. The DV464 is placed in roughly the middle of their range, and retails anywhere between £90 and £150. It's got all the right letters after its name - DTS, MP3, CD-RW, WMA, SRS (TruSurround). To cover those quickly, DTS is an improvement on Dolby Digital sound; it'll play MP3s and Windows Media files off recordable CDs (it'll also do slideshows of JPEG image files, play Video CDs, DVD-R and DVD-RW), and SRS TruSurround allows a simulation of surround sound to be created from two speakers. As ever, the DV464 conveys the feeling you get with Pioneer equipment that you're getting a good buy - lifting it out of the box it feels solid, and it sits in the middle of a very big stack of equipment without trouble. It...

Pioneer DV-626D - THE DVD player to own.

Advantages: Quality of £500+ player. Ease-of-use.
Disadvantages: Slightly 'box-like'.

...For the price you're paying, this is an amazing bit of kit - the E-mod version works flawlessly (you can order this through Techtronics.com), and if, like me, you're getting started and building your Home Cinema bit by bit, the Virtual Dolby included on this Pioneer is a welcome mid way point between stereo and "the real thing". DTS and Dolby Digital onboard as well ... no contest for the price. This player was recently awarded DVD player of the year in Home Cinema Choice magazine - it deserved it. If you're looking at DVD's on a PC, as I was, even if you've got it hooked up to a TV - there's no comparison - pictures are more vivid, sound is much more dynamic, and it's the best money I've spent yet. I've got it hooked up through my video since my current TV's got no scarts (yes I know .. I'm doing LOTS of upgrading :) ) and can...

My Pioneer DVD player

Advantages: Slim-line; £115 price tag; multi-region function
Disadvantages: doesnt come with pioneer surround sound system!

...:~: REVIEW :~: I bought my DVD off www.purelygadgets.co.uk. I had never used the website before and i believe that none of my friends had either. The DVD player cost me £114.95 and came with an 18 month extended warranty as standard. The price and warranty was a major factor in my decision to buy the player from this site. However i would recommend this player for both its functionality and aesthetic qualities. The DV-696 is not just slim line but wafer thin. When i unpackaged it i was stunned by how sleek this movie beast was. I'm not too sure of the figures and statics but just look at the picture for proof of what i am saying! The DVD player arrived on my doorstep 3 days after i had ordered it, which was very satisfactory. The postage charge was minimal and for thew quality of service, well worth paying. I have had...

Review of Pioneer DV-696 AV

not such a Pioneer

Advantages: multi-region, picture, controller
Disadvantages: sound, features

...Experimenting with home entertainment products, I stumbled into a Comet store and started looking around. With an ongoing battle against market leader Sony, and thier overpriced machines, a new manufacturer was to favoured. The helpful sales staff reliably informed me that Panasonic now offer the best picture quality in the field, and Toshiba are currently leading the "cheap option" segment. I, however had my eye on a sleek, and curvacious Pioneer model. Looks: the Pioneer I decided to purchase was the DV656S-A DVD/Audio/Video/SACD player. It stands just 3" tall, and is plated in a dark silver with large central display. The front of the device is nicely curved and front controls are well layed out. Functionality: The newer DVD player all incorporate Audio CD playing, aswell as the obvious DVD playing. This particular model doesn...
