VAT, BRAND NEW, from eBuyer.com. I hope you agree that's an incredible price for a S-ATA DVD rewriter. I only really needed the Pioneer drive to aid in testing the functionality of another more current P-ATA DVD-RW drive that was exhibiting some very odd behaviour that I wasn't absolutely certain was the drive's fault, so I wasn't too fussy about it being highly specified. Having said that the pioneer handles all manner of read/write formats with the exception of writing to DVD-RAM and writing Lightscribe data...

My Pioneer DVD player

Advantages: Slim-line; £115 price tag; multi-region function
Disadvantages: doesnt come with pioneer surround sound system!

...many other DVD players and a few combo's, to be honest nowadays they are all much of a muchness however i believe that pioneer are a cut above the rest. I would advise buyers to look into buying pioneer surround speakers (have a look on Amazon) for the total movie effect! Weighing in at 1.7kg this player is not going to cause a problem during installation. It is easy to connect and following the quick-connect guide you will be watching top quality playback in a matter of minutes. You can keep an exisiting VCR player if you wish, however this can make connection possible just ensure you have enough scart plug sockets before making a purchase. A list of compatiable formats cna be found on pioneers website however believe you me nearly all forms of DVD, VCD and CD can be played through this player. It is compatable with MP3, JPEG etc...

  Pioneer DVR-105 Internal DVD-RW Drive

Advantages: High DVD/CD compatibility after firmware update, it's Pioneer need another reason?
Disadvantages: Before flash update the drive sucks, 4 speed is dated now

.... And once again, the cycle of piracy starts all over. But this time the geniuses had a trick up their sleeves, they made sure this drive only wrote on one side of the disc and only to one layer, meaning we only got 4.7GB out of the whole thing. Ah well, nothing a bit of perserverance and moaning can't get you, the first of the double layer drives and media has already been released but that's another story. Hey before you get the wrong idea I do not condone software piracy. If you use hardware to copy whatever you like then that's up to you, but to be honest when you're caught the Police will have very little sympathy for you. So remember, crime doesn't pay and when it does it'll be you paying. This was the first DVD Re-Writer I ever had and basically it has served me well. Pioneer is a well known and respected name in the world...

Pioneering DVD

Advantages: Cheap, Very good looking and wonderful picture

...I have spend a lot of time listening to and evaluating the latest DVDs on the market. After looking at around 10 Market Leaders from companies like Yamaha, Panasonic, Sony, and the like, I finally settled on this DVD player. I thought the sound and Picture quality and in particular the features on this DVD were very impressive. Everything about it looks and feels right. The quality of the construction matches the quality of the picture even the remote control is small and full of features. This DVD coupled with their 808 amplifier match up perfectly. I paid £320 for this DVD but it can be purchased for less in the back of Hi-fi Magazines. My advice bet a demo at a local electrical store, and the buy it for a bargain price from a magazine, be sure to use you credit card for security and insurance cover....

A Pioneering Drive

Backing up my important data using my CD-R drive was a time consuming operation which used four CD-R`s every time. Advantages: Mindblowing sound, Explosive picture and feature packed - at a great price. Buy it.

Knocks the socks off any other DVD drive

...A month or so ago I purchased a new car, MK4 VW Golf 1.9 TDI. Not being brand new, I wanted to make some changes to make it feel more like mine. First thing I noticed was the out-dated sound system in the car. Despite being a 51 reg, it came with a tape deck of all things and a 6-disc CD changer. Ugly, boring and outdated. I wanted something a bit snazzier. I had seen other Golfs with single DIN units, meaning there was a horrible gap in the dash board. Opting for double-din was the only logical choice.
