...I bought the Pioneer DV-355 DVD player after selling my previous one, which was also a Pioneer. Features wise, this DVD player is exactly the same as the Pioneer DV-353-K. It has all functions that you would expect from a DVD player plus more. Firstly the design; It is very slim and very light, with a silver case. The DVD disk tray is in the centre of the player. On the far left is the power button with the eject and play buttons to the immediate right of the disk tray. Below the tray are the stop, pause, skip forwards and skip backwards buttons. An that's all! No other buttons or functions are available on the system face which makes the appearance very clean and sophisticated. ...I have to say, when I first walked in to purchase a television, I was "made" to purchase an LCD, thinking that this was the future. However when I managed to take it home with me I realised otherwise. As a piece of furniture it looks fantastic and blends in with the rest of the modern looking room very well. However, I also own a two year old PIONEER Plasma and I have to admit that the quality of the picture and sound is far better than the LCD. Comparig the two, the difference is obvious. The Plasma being 2 years old had a better picture and a brighter screen. It is not obviously as good looking as the Samsung, but performs much better. I also noticed that when i turned up the Samsung the speaker began to shatter and produced a high treble noise which was extremely annoying, making me resort to the home cinema. Anyways, in order... ...The Pioneer AVX P7300DVD is an in car CD/DVD player with colour LCD display. I've only just fitted this few days ago so am still exploring. The only reason I got this apart from it being flashy, is because I got it cheap from a friend. First of all I will review the DVD/CD Player Features. The unit is a very slim with built in DVD/CD Player. The unit is capable of playing a variety of media types such as CD-R, CD-RW, DVD, CD and video CD. The system has capability of performing in DTS/Dolby Digital/Dolby Pro Logic linear modes which gives you excellent sound.. The helpful sales staff reliably informed me that Panasonic now offer the best picture quality in the field, and Toshiba are currently leading the "cheap option" segment. I, however had my eye on a sleek, and curvacious Pioneer model. Looks: the Pioneer I decided to purchase was the DV656S-A DVD/Audio/Video/SACD player. It stands just 3" tall, and is plated in a dark silver with large central display. The front of the device is nicely curved and front controls are well layed out. ...I needed a dvd/sacd player and as Sony have quit the field went to my local Hifi specialist looking to purchase a pioneer 636 (which had superb reviews) or something as good at a simular price. My dealer said ok whilst the pioneer is good would you be open to something better? I'm always swayed by a good demo. and having popped back fifteen minutes later once the pioneer, this and it's big brother were set up. A quick burst of Pink Floyd from the live8 gig and the lobby scene from the matrix (Scarey how the salesman could read me so well) quickly had me sold up although had my bank account permitted me I would have spent four times as much money.The picture was very crisp through their 42" Pioneer Plasma, the sound through their Marantz SR7500 and B&W speaker system blew me away. Setting the machine up is very easy, once plugged in at the wall socket playback is achieved by attaching the SCART cable that comes with the player to the back and into an available SCART port. This took no more than a minute or two and as soon as it is connected to the power, a little red light appears to signal that the player is on standby. The Pioneer DV 393 is a slim-line player and stands only 50mm high, with enough space for the DVD draw, the manual buttons and a small yet clear LCD display that shows the DVD chapter, time elapsed and whether the current disc has been stopped, fast forwarded or just simply playing. From a distance, the display is easy to see, and it also informs you whether discs are loading, cannot be read or whether the draw is opening or closing. ...Pioneer DEH-30 MP I bought this car stereo around 2 years ago for my car as I wanted something that sounded better than the standard stereo. I bought mine from Motor-mania for around £150.LCD blue screen and reads out what ever it is playing at the time. I think it has really good quality sound even when the volume is on high. It plays any CDs including MP3 and even ones that are slightly scratched play just as well on this CD player. ...The pioneer HTP- GS1 is a surround sound system that has been designed for use with the Xbox 360 games console, although you can use it with any other piece of equipment like other surround sound kits, the looks and colour of this awesome piece of kit means it complements the console perfectly. The system is compatible with all Dolby surround sound modes and has loads of extra features including AM/FM RDS tuner and a range of inputs(2 Optical/1 Coaxial/1Analog). Out of the Box you notice that the amplifier is integral with the sub-woofer and the LCD display is a small separate panel that is designed to sit on top if your 360, in total there are 5 satellite speakers and a sub-woofer, the display and remote and a whole lot of cables in the box. Advantages: Upscaled DVDs look beautiful on Samsung TVs. DIVx playback is great.
Disadvantages: Slightly Slow to Startup. Remote control has no volume buttons for controlling Samsung TVs.

...A quick introduction to my setup. I own a Samsung LE40F86BDX (40" Glassy Screen LCD HDTV) and a Samsung LE23R87BDX (23" TFT Style LCD HDTV). The 40" has an HDMI input and the second has a DVI interface. When I purchased the 40" TV I found that my old Pioneer surround sound DVD player didn't give me a great picture always due to a few issues so, I bought the Samsung DVD-HD 870 player. The main features of the DVD player are, in addition to standard DVD playback, firstly, it's an upscaling player and secondly, it plays DIVx videos. On the 40" TV, I connected it using an HDMI to HDMI cable (available from play.com) to the TV. A connection like this will carry the audio and the video signals to the TV. ...I went (window) shopping for a Sony plasma TV and came home with a Loewe LCD. Compared with the Sony/Pioneer/Philips and JVC models on offer I felt the Individual 32 had the sharpest picture, displayed the greatest amount of detail and produced the best sound amongst the 20 or so available. Specifically it shows amazing levels of detail during dark scenes - even better than the Philips Plasma they had in store! The special offer in House of Fraser that day made the TV irresistible. The initial setup is easy, and It has built in freeview, connecting it up to Sky HD via HDMI is a doddle, however a second HD source can only connect via the component connectors.
