I have had the TV since January of this year (2009). I have never before experienced blacks so deep, colours so rich and sharp or motion so clear as with this tv. Nominally with tv's as we all know the larger the screen size the poorer the picture quality, especially when viewing from strange angles or when sitting close or stading near the televison. However, with the pioneer even at low resoltion levels the tv performs extremely well. Then lets consider what you get if you run blu ray through one of the TV's 4 HDMI sockets. ...We had our Philips 32" CRT for quite a few years and we decided that we would upgrade to an HDTV. When we were looking around, one TV stuck out from the rest, the Pioneer 436SXE. The picture quality is fantastic, whether you're watching any form of TV programme, DVD's, the quality is brilliant. Especially compared to our old Philips. Sound performance is good too and we're just listening to it through the integrated speakers. On the outside, the TV looks outstounding with a glossy black finish. The only one downside to the TV is that it only has one HDMI slot. This means if you have a Sky HD box and a DVD player that possesses HDMI, you'll have to keep switching between the two. Pioneer DVR-LX61D - Don't be caught out by this one!

Advantages: well-built, good enough picture and sound quality, easy to use
Disadvantages: Ethernet on VISTA only (not on XP), rather expensive for what it is

...The picture quality is no better or worse than on other DVD recorders I own from Sony and Panasonic. But compared to these the Pioneer is sturdier. Very well built. Even so, anyone interested in LX61D for its Ethernet facility should note that this ONLY works with Windows VISTA. You can't connect LX61D via Ethernet to a PC running Windows XP (any flavour). XP users must connect via USB. Your router will see LX61D okay. But XP can't use the connection. Page 125 of the manual makes this clear: 'Use a PC with a Windows Vista operating system. This operation will not work properly on PCs with other operating systems.' But Pioneer doesn't allude to this on its web site. Sneaky, huh? So, unless you're running VISTA, forget about Ethernet and think 'USB ONLY'. Then go buy the longest USB cable that will work. Actually this...

Advantages: Value for money, pure blacks and contrast reproduction
Disadvantages: 1 x HDMI, no PC input, cant take 1080i or p signal unlike 427xd

...i am a experienced tv retailer and i am hell bound to give my personal and impartial opinion. this tv is a great buy for those who can see the light and realise that 1080i/p signals are too far off to be buying a 1920x1080 res tv now!! although most people who have the money will probably opt for the higher model (PDP427xd) as this has the ability for process the 1080i signals and re-interpolate them to fit the 768 screen personally i feel from experience that what ever you are using will look better if it is set to the 720p mode as then the TV is not messing with the signal. the tv does benefit from having the best Plasma Contrast processor on the market and this shows especially when you are watching movies and sport. this is normally a given when it comes to the Plasma VS LCD debate but even against other Plasmas this TV...
