Lego City Police Station - 7744 - Great addition to lego fans!

Advantages: Assembly in stages, easy to follow for older children/adults
Disadvantages: Base a bit floppy for moving the police station around

...son has played lots with his police station and has bought the polie helicopter to go with it. The only thing I find with larger items like this is when you want to move them. The base is a bit floppy. You need careful manouvering to move it about without it falling to bits. Also, our youngest son had been playing with it and some of the bits have come off and put back in the wrong place! (Younger children are a bit heavier handed so the bits do come off quite easy like this, his older brother not impressed!) All in all, it is a great piece of toy for lego fans. You could always build it in different ways if you get bored with the layout of how it's meant to look, that's what I find handy with lego. Also, in time, it is inevitable that bits will get lost, but with lego you can always compromise and find bits to match from your lego...

Best-ival Place!

Advantages: Great shops, all indoors, cinema and restaurants too, cheap car park, easy to get to

...I live in a small town, and while we do have a good town centre with a decent range of shops, occasionally I like to go somewhere a bit different for shopping and a change of scenery. Often, our choice is nearby town Basingstoke and the indoor shopping centre called Festival Place. It's a place I do like to go, especially at this time of year with all those Christmas decorations that give that festive feeling, and somewhere I'd recommend if you get the chance to visit! Although Festival Place is primarily a big shopping mall, the area also boasts a cinema, several restaurants, bars and cafes, a large multi-storey car park and access to Basingstoke town centre as well. Advantages: excellent writing, acting, direction...

...The Station Agent is an extraordinary film for a number of reasons. The first is that it is stunningly simple in story and script and yet intriguingly complex in theme and emotional resonance. Where the Lost Things Go? A Place Called Here . . .

Advantages: Hearing the 'authentic' Irish Accent; the abridging makes the story less meandering
Disadvantages: Some of the incidental plot nuances are lost in the abridging; have to change discs.

...I must confess that I was bought the Paperback version of this book first . . . my husband bought a "Best Seller" at the library that was being sold off for 50p and I read it the same night. It was one 'off the wall' book which really struck a chord with me, as my husband often 'tears the house apart" looking for something he mislays; and sometimes it doesn't turn up at all . . . . Or I am looking for a particular CD or Cassette, and I can find the case ~ but it is empty ~ Where HAVE all the lost things gone? Well, it's A Place Called Here according to this book by Dublin-born Cecelia Ahern. She's got some wacky theories, but this one is pretty amazing! . I really did want to hear this in the "original tongue" (Oirr-ish*) as it were, though, and having an Amazon voucher to spend, I couldn't resist buying the audio version...

Take your Break at Wake(hurst Place)

Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: Gift shop expensive

...The other weekend my family and I had a day out and as the weather was nice we decided to visit Wakehurst Place. Wakehurst Place is a National Trust property in West Sussex and is also a part of Kew gardens (despite the distance!). The site is home to an old family house, wonderful extensive gardens, quarries, and even the new Millenium Seed Bank project. Wakehurst Place was a bit of a drive away from where I live (over an hour) but I'd recommend making the effort to get there even if you don't live very close because there's so much to see. ~~Admission~~ My parents are National Trust members, so they got in free, but not so for the rest of us. However, the entry prices really aren't that bad considering what you get for the money. Admission was £9, but they offer special deals for different size groups and it's free...

Review of Wakehurst Place Gardens

If only all Stations were like this one

Advantages: Manageable size, comfortable rooms, good service, excellent food and drink, value for money
Disadvantages: Location is about as far from the Strip as you can get , no entertainment

.... There was also the Pullman Grille Restaurant, which I never tried. This restaurant was housed in a preserved Pullman railroad carriage and offered fine dining but has sadly now closed, a victim of the recession. One can only hope it reopens when the economic climate in Vegas improves. Entertainment This is old Vegas but sadly there isn't any in-house entertainment to be found in the Main Street Station. It is, however, a short stroll from the Fremont Street Experience, which is always worth watch - a combination of lights and music that is free. Occasionally there are concerts held on Fremont Street - these will be heavily advertised locally however. If you want to catch a major show the best place in downtown for this is the Golden Nugget, but most of the shows are in Strip hotels. Failing that there's usually a lounge act playing...

Everyone! To your Station

Advantages: More experimental but doesn't stray too far from their first album
Disadvantages: Good songs but the album structure needs to be worked on

...guitar work and piano work, with a steady and subtle back work from drums and bass. Harper Lewis: This leads us back into familiar territory with Russian Circles, a heavy bass riff and a heavy consistency of tom toms on the drums, are the beginning of 'Harper Lewis', then comes the nice guitar picking and fuzz of guitar, with the small heavy guitar chords added in, until, eventually, it spill over and a mighty blast is (finally) pouring out of your speakers of pure hard rock. The song comes back down again and mellows, slightly, with a more consistent use of the whole band working together, and then eventually outing with the drums. Station: My favourite of the album, all I can say for this song, is 'drum bliss'. The clash of symbols intro this song and the driving pull on/ off of guitar and bass set the pace for this song...

The Place to be?

Advantages: Convenient Location, Overall reasonable range of facilities
Disadvantages: Keen to raise prices though

...I've been a member of Holmes Place in Maidenhead now for some years. It's conveniently located for me near to work, so it's an ideal place to go at lunchtime to prevent me wandering around the shops and frittering my money on things I don't really need. There are two types of membership - peak and off peak. Peak means you can go in whenever you want, and off peak restricts you to being able to go in any time during weekdays up to 4.30pm and any time at weekends. Up until last month I was paying £44 a month for off peak membership. I understand that peak membership is £48 a month but this is for corporate membership. Membership is higher still for non-corporate members. I'm lucky, because my medical insurance now allows me membership at £25 a month peak, which is significantly cheaper.
