Compeed Blister plasters
Advantages: An excellent healing plaster for sore feet
Disadvantages: none
...Every time I have a new pair of shoes I get the same problem..Blisters !!
No matter how soft the shoe is my heels develop sore ,weepy and painful blisters.
We were always told to leave a blister open to the air,so that it had a chance to heal.
But in reality this often leaves the wound open to germs and infection, making the skin cracked and dry.
I went to see our local pharmacist,he is always happy to advise, and he suggested using the Compeed Blister Patches.
To be honest my heels were so sore that I was open to any suggestions he might have made !
I read the leaflet to see how the Blister plasters worked.
These plasters have been used in hospitals for over 20 years and the Compeed Hydrocure system relies on Hydrocolloid based healing.
So the cushioned patch seals the wound, making it impossible for dirt, germs and water to get...

Plasters in a Spray Can.
Advantages: Convenient and easy to use.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
...Give me a kitchen and a knife and yes, your guaranteed to find a cut somewhere on my hand. Plasters are a norm for me but I do find them getting in the way quite a bit of the time and when cooking, I am worried about the amount of germs that the good old plaster can harbour. Always on hand in my medicine cupboard would be a small bottle of Germoline New Skin. Stings like hell when you put it on but still. Not any more though now, I have found Elastoplast Spray Plaster.
Elastoplast are well known for making plasters and recently when walking around my local Tesco on my regular weekly shopping trip I spotted this great little addition to my first aid kit.
The Plaster comes in a small aerosol can, yes a small can. The can size is 10cm tall including the lid x 31/2 cm (handbag size). The can is made of metal, (recyclable) silver...

Plaster Disaster (!)
Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: hard to move finger afterwards, difficult to unwrap
...Sometimes I don't what my life is coming to when I feel it's perfectly normal for myself to write a review on plasters. Nevertheless I shall plough on despite the pain that my little finger is having to endure!
I don't know whether you've had the pleasurable experience of ripping your fingernail (well a lot of it) off. With the aid of a potato pealer I vow to never use again. There I was happily (sort of) shedding the peal of a new potato not really paying much attention, seconds later swearing like you wouldn't believe possible.
Strictly speaking there wasn't much damage it just hurt and was bleeding a bit too much for my liking. Anyhow, out come the plasters.
Now I've always struggled with the opening of the Tesco brand and I suppose you get what you pay for. For a box of 40 you can expect to pay around about £1.15 On each separate...

Goodbye plasters, hello spray plaster
Advantages: no pain of plaster removal, easy to apply, waterproof, breathable, promotes quick healing,
Disadvantages: slight sting on application
...***What it does
Elastoplast spray plaster is just that. Spray it onto grazes and minor cuts to form a transparent flexible and breathable film that seals out water, dirt and bacteria.
***Likes***
One of the best things about this product is that it removes the 'aaaaargggh!' factor of ordinary plasters as it wears off naturally over a couple of days once applied. This is the product for anyone that doesn't like the pain of removing an ordinary plaster from a tender wound to find the plaster ripping skin and scab away. It's easy to apply and dries fast and, being waterproof yet breathable, your wound can heal naturally and quickly, and it stays on in the bath and shower. It's highly flexible, so great for application to joints, etc.
It's good for wearing under clothes too - where I found an ordinary plaster to cause pain to...

No more plasters? It must be magic!
Advantages: easy to use and really works
Disadvantages: none
...Plasters are a must have in any house and with two little girls who are quite prone to tripping over and gaining the odd cut they are an absolute necessity for us. However, although I have nothing against them in principle, with the normal type of sticky plaster which we are all used to, there comes a number of problems.
Firstly, sometimes they do not stay on long enough. It's really annoying when a plaster starts to come away from the cut and flaps all over the place, especially if you are out somewhere and can't immediately replace it. It's irritating and it's also no longer protecting the wound. Also, it doesn't take long for a plaster on a child's finger or knee to start becoming very dirty and you get the feeling that it's not really very hygenic at all. Thirdly, if a plaster does keep it's stickiness and stays on, you then have...

Compeed Blister Plasters
Advantages: They work, they stick, they do exactly what it says on the packet
Disadvantages: Only come in boxes of 5; quite expensive
...What a blessing these plasters were! When my son started his first 'real' job with real 'work boots', his feet quickly rebelled! I rushed out to buy appropriate plasters and came back with two sorts, one of which was Compeed. Having never done a full day's hard work in his life, the blisters were plentiful, and he was quick to ask me to get more of the Compeed plasters.
They come in a very handy container, are relatively easily to apply - once you get the hang of things - and, most importantly, they stick!!
Price wise, they were about middle of the road, comparing them to other brands of blister plasters, but I managed to get them on special offer in Superdrug.
I've only been able to get them in packs of 5, so they are working out at not much under £1 for each plaster, but well-worth it when you have extremely tender feet...

Compeed Blister Gel Plasters: For Us City Folk Too
Advantages: Relieves pain from blisters effectively
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...when first applied as bubbling may cause additional irritation to the area. Also this will help the gel pad stay fixed longer, and it's important to get your money worth with these!
The down side of compeed plaster gel pads is that they are not cheap. Do not mistake these for regular plasters! At about £4.40 for a package of 5 medium sized gel pads, my husband may eventually get fed up with me stealing his and I may have to invest in a pack myself. However, the value for money with these lovely little foot-friends makes them a great product in my mind. You leave the gel pad on until it decides to come off. You don't replace it regularly so one gel pad per blister is enough. They come in a handy little plastic case to help keep them dry and safe whether in a handbag or rucksack.
Warning: your foot must be dry when the gel pad is...

Get Plastered
Advantages: Price, number, stickiness
Disadvantages: Get dirty quickly and painful to remove
...Why I Purchased This Product:
************************************
Some may consider me to be a slight hypochondriac. I of course disagree. I like to adhere to the Boy Scout motto (even though I was a Brownie) and "Be Prepared"? for anything. So, on my regular supermarket shop I thought I'd stock up on the usuals- painkillers, cough sweets, hay fever tablets and of course, plasters. I've never been a big fan of waterproof plasters, as I don't like the external texture, so I chose the cheap and (not that) cheerful 'Tescos own' fabric plasters.
The Products Availability:
******************************
Clearly these are only available in the supermarket giant that is Tesco. Branches of Tesco can be found in near enough every town in the UK, and almost every street. I'm not a big fan of Tesco, but it's just so darn convenient...

Getting Plastered
Advantages: Good cheap value fo rmoney meals in excellent surroundings
Disadvantages: Nothing to entertain children
...When it comes to dining out, you can’t beat traditional pub food for good value for money. There are many pubs throughout Oxfordshire offering excellent meals, and one of these is about a 10 minute walk from the city centre.
The Plasterers Arms is a pub owned by Morrells Brewery, a family brewery based in Oxford since the 19th century. Up until last May, it was leased to private management and had an Irish theme to it. It was mainly used by students during term time and was quite empty during holidays. It did serve food, but the quality was something to be desired. After being served up a pizza with blue mould on the base, we never ate there again.
Last May, the brewery took over the pub and gave it a complete refurbishment. False beams were added to the ceiling, the lounge and public bar were knocked into one...

Hiker's Little Helper
Advantages: Great product - does everything you need it to do
Disadvantages: Extremely over-packaged, slightly pricey (due to packing?)
...Ok, I admit it, I am writing this opinion under duress. How can I possibly continue to justify my user-name if I don't at least add my meagre views on this most blissful addition to the resources of the hiker?
To feel the need to write about a blister plaster strikes me as more than a little sad?and I'm doing so?so please, be sympathetic.
~
OK let's get real.
Those of us who walk, get blisters. Doesn't matter whether you hike the hills, pound the pavements, schlepp the shops, or simply slowly wander your city streets, parks and byeways. Sooner or later you'll do it in shoes/boots that don't fit too well, and you'll suffer for it.
I know this.
I have been there, and done that.
Thanks to M&S trainers, Merell all-terrain sandals and Brasher GTX boots it's not a phenomenon I have much contention with...
