MBNA Credit Cards

Advantages: Good intro rate, good customer service, Credit card chequebook
Disadvantages: Poor "normal" rate, no incentives (e.g. cashback), no Internet presence

They do many "affiliate" cards such as alumni cards for staff and students of universities, as well as their own-brand Silver, Gold and Platinum cards. I had a Silver card with them originally, and now have an MBNA Platinum card. In the time that I have been a customer of theirs, I have found that their staff are very helpful, my account has been run smoothly, and their automated telephone service is quick and easy to use, as well as being free (0800 number). American express platinum cashback card.

Advantages: Receive cashback on everyday purchases
Disadvantages: Not accepted everywhere.

...I applied for the american express platinum card mainly being because of the initial offer of the 5% cash back for the first three months. after the three months it then goes to 1.5% which is alright when compared to other cashback cards on the market at the moment. I use my american express basically like a debit card and always always pay it off in full so you can benefit from the cashback. Cashback is paid annually from the date you got accepted for the card which is good because it builds up and you get a nice chunk back (depending on how much you spent on the card). You can only be accepted for an american express platinum card if you are earning atleast £20,000 per annum. American express is actually accepted in more places now than people may think so there are a lot more chances for you to be earning that lovely...

Tesco Finest Platinum Credit Card offers great deals

Advantages: YOU EARN USEFUL POINTS
Disadvantages: Quite high APR if you don't pay off the full amount monthly

...Have had this card for about 4 years now and have never had any problems - quite the contrary, in fact as I have earned large numbers of points with which I have bought items from their Store. The latest being an excellent microwave. I do pay off my card every month as I do not like paying interest charges and sometimes I have done this through my on-line Bank Account and sometimes on Tesco's on-line banking. ( this is quite often because I want to check what has gone through on my card). I have found their on-line system and security very good and easy to use. I have received lots of different offers with this card, most of which I don't take up but, obviously I do take up offers for the Tesco points. Pokemon Platinum - Platinum Quality

Advantages: Great graphics and longevity. Online capabilities are excelent. A very fun game.
Disadvantages: Battling gets monotonous after a while; Not worth getting if you have Diamond/Pearl already

...For any fan of the pokemon series, Pokemon Platinum is an amazing and brilliant game to own. This game is the third installment to the games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and has many more features. The storyline is similar to the other two games and to every other pokemon game which is to fight through a building filled with trainers from an evil organisation. The battles here are monotonous and not very difficult to win. This aside, the game is brilliant in terms of gameplay with many pokemon to catch and a lot of legendary pokemon to keep you busy trying to get them. Even after the game is beaten there is a lot to do, train pokemon, catch them all, battle with friends, it could never end. The graphics of this game are stunning. THEY LISTEN - BUT BEWARE THE CON

Advantages: Good customer service, frequent incentives to transfer balances at very low rates, one of the longest interest free periods on the market, Up to 59 days interest free
Disadvantages: Payments are used to clear balance transfers first whilst any other spending accumulates at 15.9% APR

...MBNA was the first credit card I held, and has remained steadfastly tucked in my wallet ever since. On their main silver accounts they had rubbish interest rates and no loyalty packages, but did offer interim incentive periods at very low interest rates for balance transfers. I was going to close both my accounts with them, when RBS refused me a special rate on a balance transfer, so I elected to contact MBNA who offered me 1.9% fixed for 6 months and 15.9% thereafter. I discussed with them the possibility of upgrading to a Platinum card as I fulfilled the criteria, yet they said no.
