...plug and play after the install all you need is the unit itself the sound card and whatever mp3's u fancy getting down with. its small enough to keep in a cupboard when not in use and it also sits nicely in front of your monitor when you do decide to play. This was mainly bought spur of the moment after i had got rid of turntables to make room. Since buying a new set of turntables this was gathering dust in the cupboard but i have since found out this can be used as a midi controller within music production software. assigning the faders and knobs to particular controls gives you a hands on feel when producing music aswell, but i wouldn't buy this for that purpose only but its good to know if you already own one. the unit itself online will cost between thirty five and sixty pounds the muse pocket lt external sound card is advertised...

Amazon MP3 is an excellent alternative to 'itunes' and 'napster'

Advantages: DRM free MP3s play on all computers / mp3 players, and copied endlessly, huge variety, good prices
Disadvantages: Download program needed for multiple song downloads, but this is also occurs with main rivals

...I don't have an ipod, I am very happy with my MP3 player and don't plan to buy an ipod. All of my music is organised in Windows Media Player,and I wanted to keep it that way. I didn't want to mess up my carefully organised system, but I really wanted to start downloading music (without doing so illegally). I didn't want the itunes or napster programs on my computer, then I discoverend Amazon MP3 music download. Most importantly - Amazon MP3s are DRM free. DRM (digital rights management) found on itunes and napster tracks, involve software that restricts the tracks being played to the computer they were originally purchased on (and 2 or 3 nominated computers that also have naptster / itunes installed). Advantages: An excellent MP3 player with a huge hard drive.
Disadvantages: So much space available you may not know exactly what to do with it all.

...Once I bought the iPhone I was dying for another bite of the Apple. I have a huge and ever expanding collection of music and therefore need a large MP3 player to hold it all on. The iPhone is great, but with a 16GB hard drive it just isn't quite large enough to store my masses of music on. From Abba right through to ZZ Top; the 160GB Apple iPod can hold it all and there is still plenty of space left over for my ever expanding music collection. Having so far taken up 100GB I think I'm doing quite well at filling it so far, but there's still plenty more that can be stored and I doubt I'll be stretching my player to its full capacity for a long while yet. 100GB is the total amount of music I have amassed during the last 5 or so years, and to tell the truth a lot of the music on there I probably shan't be listening to ever again. ...MP3.com is a site which consists of a huge database of legal(yes legal) mp3 files for your downloading pleasure. If you are looking to uncover the next Oasis then this is probably one of the better places to start as there are some really good bands etc. on here...if you can find them... The main problem which I find with this site is that it is simply so huge. There are literally thousands of mp3s on here by numerous artists and trawling through the chaff to reach the corn is something of a life-shortening experience. Sadly it is moe likely that you will prefer to use something like Napster and find the files by artists you already know and like rather than seeking out ones you have never heard of at mp3.com. You need look no further than mp3.com for everything you ever wanted to know about MP3's - oh and you can get some music as well (how could I forget the music). Where do I start? Well, I'll start with the tunes. I am actually a member of the mp3.com artist group, and I can tell you there are some very good people who put their music on to this site! Some of whom I'm sure will go on to bigger and better things in the future. Basically what we have here is a music "community" made up of various artists who need/want to get themselves heard. The software provided is only required if you are using Windows 98 As you have probably guessed I am very pleased with MP3 player. I like the look; I like the feel and it is definitely better than my old CD player. It is smaller and able to contain much more music than before. I have filled it today and it stored 154 tracks so I won't need to change my playlist for a while. I am still mystified about the loop on the earphone cable, but hey big deal. It plays music and that's the main thing. I was a little disappointed with the battery time that I got from the factory supplied...
