Gorgeous Gloworm

Advantages: Lovely soothing baby toy
Disadvantages: Not machine washable

...You might think being a Mummy of 3 that I would be a dab hand at choosing Christmas gifts for babies, sadly not so, I had no idea what to buy for Jack this Christmas and was struggling to make suggestions for relatives who were constantly asking what they could buy. It is made by Playskool, which shows it's intended for very young children. It is available from Woolwoorths, Argos and most other retail outlets who sell toys. I really recommend this to parents who have young children who enjoy being creative and like having parties, or to those who have withheld, with the best intentions, Mr. Frosty from their kids thinking it might be a waste of money. For children who like a lot of activity and entertainment this would be a disappointment in my opinion, but for children who are easy to please or enjoy simple pleasures it might be ideal. ...The Playskool Ball Popper was bought for my Niece for her 1st birthday (October 2005) and also for my Daughter for Christmas 2005. Both times they were bought from Argos for £19.99 but this item often has a special offer on it - at one point it was reduced to £15.99 and at the moment if you buy 2 Playskool items you get a free Pound n Cheese toy (offer available at Argos). Firstly the basics: DOES IT NEED ASSEMBLING? Not really. You just need to fix the 2 slopes together and put the batteries in and away you go! Probably took 2 minutes once the battery compartment was opened and closed again as it is fixed with 1 small screw. It comes with 5 coloured balls which are placed in the hole. Poppin' Fun

Advantages: Easy to operate and great fun!
Disadvantages: Only disadvantage I can think of is it requires batteries.

...I bought this toy for my grandaughters first birthday last month. I had never heard of it before but when I saw it on the Argos website it looked like a fun toy and at £19.99 it didn't break the bank either. It's suitable for ages 9 months and upward and requires 4 x "D" Batteries which are not included and need to be purchased separately. Argos are currently selling 4 for £3.99. The Playskool Ball Popper only requires minimal assembly and is basically a chute contraption - the brightly coloured balls roll down the chute into the clear tube and are then whooshed up by gusts of air out of the top of the tube and back down the chute again. Which is no mean feat when you're talking about a 10 month old! You've probably all seen variations on this theme - boxes, eggs and cups - but I find the barrels are the most versatile. This particular set of barrels has been in our family for four years. Manufactured by Playskool, I bought them for about £1. They are made of robust plastic which can survive a turn in the dishwasher. Over the years they have been taken to the beach and the swimming pool. ...and fly everywhere!! It has educational value as my son has torn up little bits of paper put then in the chute ?just so see what happened!? and loved it when that to shot out of the top! Being made by Playskool it is made from tough quality plastic, and is easy to understand and manipulate by little people. ...The Spin and Pop Arcade from Playskool has to be described as a really fun toy for little children. It is recommended for children from the age of nine months which is about the age my youngest daughter was when she received it as a Christmas Present. Having said that though, nearly a year and a half on at the age of two and a quarter she still really enjoys playing with it! So what is the Spin and Pop Arcade? At first glance it looks like a brightly coloured low level table (as you can see from the picture) but it is definitely much more than that!
