Compact Guide to Croatia
Advantages: Compact size and waterproof cover
Disadvantages: Disjointed and hard to find information.
...I am the sort of person who enjoys planning for their holiday. I love researching our destination and I devour as much information as I can before I go as I find that if I am knowledgeable about a place I enjoy myself much more. Embarking on a cruise last year was my idea of heaven as it gave me ample opportunity to research lots of different places.
One of our ports of call was Dubrovnik and it soon became apparent that this would be a suitable destination for an independent sightseeing tour. I read quite a bit on the internet but decided that taking a guidebook with us was probably a wise move. My local bookshop only had one book covering Croatia so that?s how I came to purchase the Berlitz Pocket Guide at £4.99.
Appearance
First impressions of this guidebook were very positive. It is, as the name suggest, compact in...

berlitz Pocket Guide
Advantages: Small but informative
Disadvantages: None
...Everytime Iam going on holiday and it's a destination I have never been to , I buy the Berlitz Pocket Guide.
Yes it really does fit into your pocket.
I have got a book on Las Vegas, California, Disneyland, Florida, Menorca/Majorca, France, Greece, the Algarve etc etc.
I found these little books very informative. They always have a detailed map on the inside cover. The first few pages are usually on the history of the destination.
There are recommends for Hotels, Restaurants, Shopping, places of interests.
On one of the pages there are handy hints for your holiday. Like for example ;
Where the airport is situated.
Bicycle Rental.
Campsites
Car Hire
Climate
Complaints
Crime and Safety
Customs and Entry Formalities
Right up to Tourist Info Offices
Youth Hostels.
Keep up the good work Berlitz.
The cost of these guides...

Pocket Sized Web Guide.
Advantages: A great guide to the internet
Disadvantages: American bias
...The Internet and World Wide Web (Rough Guide) is basically a pocket sized book, that teaches you the basics of web site navigation.
The book starts off by teaching you the basics. It tells you how to get connected, how to send emails, how to join a mail list. It even shows you how to use FTP programs, and chat rooms.
The book then goes on to more exciting things like newsgroups and websites.
The guide to websites is the best feature in the book. This section gives you the addresses of the best websites in your choosen catagory.
If you know what you are looking for it's just a matter of looking in the index, the sites are listed by genre. Eg: Art, Banking, Entertainment, Music, Weather even Weird.
The website guide takes up about 100 pages of the book.
The book even has the addresses of newsgroups.
The book then...

Vtech V Smile Pocket educates and stimulates
Advantages: Turns game time into brain time!
Disadvantages: Need to separately purchase the Pocket Travel Bag to protect the LCD screen.
...When my eldest child (the one that is 6 going on 60!) received the V Smile Pocket I won on Ebay last Christmas, I received the biggest smile EVER! And so far, it has lived up to all that my eldest child expected from it.
- THE PRODUCT-
The V Smile Pocket is the handheld version to the V Smile TV Learning System, which is marketed for kids aged 3+. However, the V Smile Pocket is marketed for children between the ages of 5 and 9. Thankfully, the games you buy work with the V Smile Pocket as well as the V Smile TV Learning System. In addition, the V Smile Pocket can be played as a hand-held unit, or plugged directly into the TV for an at-home game play experience - thanks to the AV cable it comes with as standard.
As a plus point, the V Smile Pocket can accommodate both right and left-handed players. To switch to either right...

Cheese & Ham Pockets
Advantages: taste nice, don't burn in the microwave
Disadvantages: unhealthy
...colours and the text says Hot Pockets in bold white writing. On the back there is a picture guide so that you can follow along how to cook them yourself quite easily. There is also nutritional information on the back and instructions of what not to do. They also have a contact phone number and it says they are owned by Nestle so all of a sudden it is a familiar name.
To cook these pockets you put them into what is referred to as the crisping sleeve. This is in other words a cardboard triangle which is silver inside to attract the heat. It then gets left to microwave for about 2 and a half minutes in the microwave while placed in the sleeve depending on your wattage. All instructions for cooking are on the sleeve also, usually after this time length I can really start to smell the cheese and ham so I would definitely say it is ready to be...

Brilliant Brits Guide!
Advantages: Clearly laid out with really useful information.
Disadvantages: -
...and knew our mainstay of the holiday would be Walt Disney World (WDW). I spotted the Brits Guide in my local bookshop. It appealed because several books that I had glanced at were obviously aimed at an american market and I thought that this would be better. The guide was not pocket sized by any imagination but would fit ok in a backpack if we were out for the day.
As soon as I got home I started reading. I ended up reading it cover-to-cover whilst reading snippets out to my family about all the excitement we were to experience. The book is written in a very easy to read format. It is clearly laid out with chapter headings in bold print on the top of each page. There are lots of colour photographs of the attractions as well. Each chapter is clearly broken down into sub-headings and "Brit Tips" are extra useful pieces of information that are...

Braun Pocket Go 570 Shaver
Advantages: Size, long hair trimmer
Disadvantages: Shave wasnt as close as I would have liked
.... The instruction manual isnt exactly comprehensive. It folds out to the size of a small country but is also written in every language imaginable. The English section barely covers 1 fold and tells you how to insert the batteries, clean it and very little else, but then again, you dont really need much help to use a basic shaver I suppose.
The shaver itself is fairly small, being approximately 4 inches long and would find into your pocket without being noticable.
--The Shaving experience--
I used this shaver when I had quite a lot of stubble on my face, expecting it to all disappear in next to no time. The shaver felt comfortable on my face and I began sliding it across my skin. I was somewhat perplexed when, to the naked eye it didnt look as if it was taking anything off. In fact, I had to open up the top of the shaver to see if it had...

The Rough Guide To Mod
Advantages: Easy to navigate. Well illustrated. Slim-fitting
Disadvantages: Very hard to find.
...This is now as rare as wedding tackle on an Action Man! If you haven't got it now, you will have to dig deep into your credit crunch affected pockets to secure yourself a copy!
Luckily, I got mine way back, when it was hot off the presses. It now sits proudly on my bookshelf, glowing like a beacon of style and good taste.
Empire Made is almost like a Rough Guide to Mod. Presented in a great A to Z format, it illustrates the clothes, the haircuts, the scooters, the films, the lifestyle and the general all-round goodness of Mod life. On top of all that, there are over 100 photos to whet your finely-tailored, Italian style whistle.
Terry Rawlings himself knows a thing or two about Mod, albeit from a 2nd generation perspective. He was one of the boys about town during the Mod Revival of 1978. Along with his mate Eddie Piller, he...
