Advantages: Loads of fun for Pokemon/Nintendo fans

...It is no use denying it, Love them or hate them, Pokemon Trading cards are big! They have played a big part in our life this year, we have been to no less than six Trading Card League events. I have to praise these events because for Pokemon fans they are a real treat. The events are free to enter and the first thing you get is a bag of goodies just for going in. This bag contains a collectable card which is not readily available elsewhere. Once inside the kids can play card games with other players winning points on a card. Once they have enough points they get to play one of the more expert gym leaders and earn their badges. If they get fed up of playing cards then they can play on many of the nintendo systems set up, usually featuring brand new games. Advantages: characters care about their Pokemon

...From game to game the pokemon series has continued to be the same story again and again except slightly different, but the strange thing it, the more games you play, the more engrossed you become in the game. Although there doesn't seem to be anything much new for the players that have played the old pokemon games, for people that haven't played them before though there is a lot to do and to discover. The overall theme of this game is to find and capture over 150 different types of battling monsters and then fight against other trainers until you become the champion of the region. ...The nectar card is the loyalty card associated with Sainsbury's, however it has since branched out and is affiliated with many companies which allows for maximum point collecting! Let's start with the basics, you get 2 points per pound spent at Sainsburys or 1 point per litre of petrol bought at the Sainsbury's petrol garage. Each point accumulated is worth half a penny, so you need 2 points to equal 1 pence. If you redeem your points in store at Sainbury's then you will need minimum 500 points for £2.50 off o your shopping. Points need to be redeemed in increments of 500. Points can also be collected in other stores, for example Dolland and Aitchinson also give 2 points per pound, as do Homebase. Pokemon Platinum - Platinum Quality

Advantages: Great graphics and longevity. Online capabilities are excelent. A very fun game.
Disadvantages: Battling gets monotonous after a while; Not worth getting if you have Diamond/Pearl already

...For any fan of the pokemon series, Pokemon Platinum is an amazing and brilliant game to own. This game is the third installment to the games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and has many more features. The storyline is similar to the other two games and to every other pokemon game which is to fight through a building filled with trainers from an evil organisation. The battles here are monotonous and not very difficult to win. This aside, the game is brilliant in terms of gameplay with many pokemon to catch and a lot of legendary pokemon to keep you busy trying to get them. Even after the game is beaten there is a lot to do, train pokemon, catch them all, battle with friends, it could never end. The graphics of this game are stunning. The Nintendo DS' 3D capabilities are really put to good use everywhere in the game and for a handheld game...

The illustrative works within the movie are beautiful and colourful as always and the familiar voices of the characters relate this to the series while giving it a fresh new atmosphere for the big screen. The story throughout is familiar to one you may see in the series it is relatively easy to follow and fairly exciting, but looking back over the entirety of the movie it is clear that the final battle scene takes up virtually most of the film, is very drawn-out and lasts far too long. The actual DVD comes free with a promo Pokemon card, as they did when it was first released in the cinemas. Wanna catch em all

Advantages: Can be an enjoyable hobby, MAY increase in value
Disadvantages: A big drain on the budget, Can cause vast arguments between parent and sibling, MAY become worthless bits of paper

...Pokemon… The word that will evoke one of two very different reactions, depending on your age (I’m making a big generalisation). Children will jump around excitedly screaming something along the lines of “I want some”. The reaction of adults (parents) will be to get as far away from this money consuming product as fast as possible. The image is changing now, as the kids are starting to lose the hype on Pokemon and are onto something else now. You will still find kids that play the game in clubs and tournaments but more and more often, you will be finding adult collectors or the few kids that take collecting seriously buying the cards. I have read some opinions on the subject that show that the writer may have simply dismissed Pokemon as a craze and a fad. Half of these people have never even owned the cards...
