...When I was younger I always had my nose in a book. Being the huge animal lover I was, I often chose to read books about animals. The Animal Ark book series was very popular with me, and one of the titles was Polar Bears on the Path. Although you should never judge a book by its cover, I always do, so it is important that it looks quite good! This cover is very attractive indeed. There is a gorgeous image of polab bears huddled together, looking adorable. Behind them there is a land of snow, the ground blanketed by the fresh whiteness. It looks so peaceful and heavenly, it drew me in straight away. The cover is definitely a winner with me. The book is about Mandy Hope, whose parets are vets, and her best friend James. They find a lost polar bear and have to return it to its family. But will they be able to help it finds its way back...

Talking Polar Bears!?!?!

...STORYLINE A small polar bear called lars is friends with a seal pup but seals and polar bears are not supposed to like each other and so the story begins. All is fine untill one day after playing with his dad, lars and him fall asleep on the ice when his farther wakes he finds that the ice by the side of him has broken of and lars has floated of to sea. When lars finally finds land he arrives on a giant colourfull island full of strange animals. After a while he finds a hippo who looks after him for the day and at the end shows him the sunset with the flamingos. While lars is watching this he thinks of home and how he wishes everyone at home was here to see it. Meanwhile at the north pole the polar bears have struck a deal with seals the polar bears will not eat the seals...

S-Now this is a great book!

Advantages: Sweet story, lovely pictures, basic language, good talking points throughout

...Little Polar Bear lives all alone with no one to play with, and wishes that he had a friend to play with. The snow cloud feels sorry for him and tries to help. He snows gently to make it form an owl, but Polar Bear doesn't realise that it isn't real and hopes to play. Sadly, the next day, the owl melts away and the Polar Bear is alone once more. The snow cloud tries a few more time to snow a friend for Polar Bear but again, they melt away. Until one day... another polar bear appears but Polar Bear dares not get his hopes up... I picked this book up for the bargainous price of 30p at a book sale at Harry's nursery last week purely because it had a lovely cover and looked like a nice wintery book for me to read to Harry at bedtime. ...The Polar Express DVD I was bought this film for Christmas from my mum as I was complaining that before Christmas I had nothing to watch that would get me into the Christmas spirit. Apart from sitting watching Alistair Sims version of scrooge with my dad which in my view is not giving as much Christmas spirit as it should. Anyhow it being February now nearly March I thought it time I watched it. Polar bears on a tropical island? Get lost!

...Filmed in Hawaii, the basic premise of the show is that a group of people are onboard a plane to Australia when it crashes on an island. That alone is interesting to me; I love all things survival and desert island, so I was immediately intrigued. But don't make the mistake of thinking this is Ray Mears or Robinson Crusoe all over again - it's far from that. As you would in real life, the survivors begin trying to piece things together on the island, and at first all seems normal - that is until a Polar Bear runs out of the jungle. And there it begins: the wild psychotic trip that is Lost. You see, the island isn't any old island. First off there's the polar bear, then there's a smoke plume monster type creature, and on and on goes the list. I can guarantee you will have never, ever, come across a similar story to this show...
