Puerto Pollensa - Excellent for young families
Advantages: Great beach, very attractive, good shopping
Disadvantages: Poor for sight seeing, long transfer, no trendy nightlife
...Puerta Pollensa is about 75 minutes transfer from the airport and is located in the extreme north east of Majorca.
The town itself is notable for its extensive harbour with lots of local fishing boats, holiday boats and some bigger cruisers. It also has an excellent beach stretching towards Alcudia. The beach is clean and sandy. It has hamacas and parasols all the way along (2000 charge was 1300 ptas for two hamacas and a parasol per day. You can of course use the beach free of charge. The sea at PP is excellent because the resort is sheltered and therefore the sea is quite calm. It also gets a good breeze which means it is often the coolest place in the resort. For swimming and for childrens safety the whole seafront is very good. The beach also has resources for hobie cats, wind surfing, and the banana.
From the harbour boats are...

Puerto Pollensa - Family Destination
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...If you are considering Puerto Pollensa as a family holiday destination do not hesitate. Having just come back from two glorious weeks I heartily recommend it. Puerto Pollensa is a quiet resort in the north of Majorca. It is situated in a beautiful bay and as a good beach and a wide variety of good restaurants. The accommodation that we stayed in was very good (Habitat apartments). It had 3 swimming pools, nightly entertainment and children?s activities during the day. Whether you enjoy beach/pool holidays or want to travel Puerto Pollensa is a great place. The bus service is very good. You can visit busy Alcudia or if you like something even quieter and idyllic Cala San Vicente. A 15-minute bus ride gets you to Cala San Vicente, which is possibly the most beautiful place on the Island. Even so Cala San Vicente is amazingly quiet. It has...

Puerto de Pollensa
Advantages: Peaceful
Disadvantages: Distance from airport
...If you are of the opinion, (which I was I must admit), that Majorca was a place frequented by only the young and noisy then think again. On the northern part of the island is a resort called Puerto Pollensa which bears no resemblance to the lively southern part of the island. It is heaven on earth. A lovely, peaceful resort which has not seen that much development and retains a very spanish feel to it. Set on a beautiful long, white, sandy beach with the clear blue water on one side and mountains on the other, it truly gives a diferent perspective to Majorca. No discos, just friendly little restaurants, bars and cafes. Ideal for families with younger children and for couples looking for a romantic spot.!!
Downside is that it is an hour's drive from the airport and with many of the island's 'tourist' attractions situated in...

Food for the Soul.
Advantages: Beach, sea, food, relaxation, more food
Disadvantages: A busy road - be careful out there.
...A quick guide to Puerto Pollensa
I'm no great traveller and I'm even less of a travel-writer. This may hit the spot, it may not. Let's see shall we?
I've been visiting Puerto Pollensa on the north-eastern tip of Mallorca for 25 years now and I can quite categorically say, it's my favourite part of the world. Many a wonderful holiday has been spent there and each time I go, a flood of happy memories come to me like the gentle lapping of the water on the golden beaches. In all that time, I've seen a few changes but the essence of the place has remained unchanged. Thanks to frugal town-planning where only old buildings can give way to new, Puerto Pollensa has retained the charm that so enticed us in the summer of '82 and just about every year since.
First of all though, if you're reading this hoping to get an idea for your...

Great apartments - great location
Advantages: Value for money, lovely location
Disadvantages: Slightly noisy plumbing, basicness of kitchen area
...Great apartments - great location!
Our first time to Majorca, Puerto Pollensa and the Don Miguel apartments and after reading other reviews we were a little worried about the quality of the apartments to say the least but we were very pleasantly surprised!
Our Apartment
As other people have said the apartments are quite basic but at the end of the day they are only 2 star so we weren't expecting luxury and were quite pleased with what we got! Our apartment was one bedroomed. It was apartment 2A and we were in the apartment block that ajoins the Panorama Hotel. We were on the 2nd floor and had 2 fabulously large balconies, one that overlooked the pool area and another off the bedroom, which really we never used. There were 2 single beds and ample wardrobe space there was also a bed settee in the lounge with further wardrobe space...

James Villas - Pollensa, Majorca
Advantages: Reasonable price, easy to book
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...We have just returned from our second JV holiday this year (Lanzarote in January), to Pollensa in Majorca. This was, again, a great holiday at a very reasonable price at around £1100 for everything including villa, flights and car hire.
Once again, we found booking to be easy and painless, via the website, which has pictures of the villas and they can be searched according to time and place as well as price. The confirmation phone call was efficiently done and the only thing we didn't take was the insurance, which we get for half the price elsewhere.
The flights were with Excel Airways and were a little cramped, as these flights always are, but still not too bad. I was a little perturbed by the car hire firm not having an office in the airport (everything was done from seats in the arrivals lounge) but everything went smoothly...

Aparthotel Playa Mar, Puerto Pollensa
Advantages: Clean, Friendly and Beautifully presented
Disadvantages: Quite a walk to the centre of town
...just a 2 minute walk to the sea front, however it is about another 10-15 minutes to walk in to the centre of Pollensa which is reached by walking along the beach front, palm tree lined, Pine Walk.
The hotel has a shop attached to it which is small but well equipped, it is useful for those who are self-catering.
My only criticism would be if you are looking for a child free, peaceful hotel this isn't the one for you as it attracts quite a few families with young children, but this won't be too much of a problem if you went outside of the school holidays.
Overall it is a fun, friendly, clean and good quality hotel to stay at and I would recommend it to anyone from families to young couples....

Go East Young Man
Advantages: Short flight. Scenery.
Disadvantages: Airport v. busy. Tarred with 18-30 brush
...all quite near the airport, so as a general rule, if you?re not the 18-30 type, stay as far away from the airport as you can. The northern side and eastern end of the island are your best bet.
Towns like Alcudia and Pollensa and its accompanying resort of Puerto Pollensa in the east are much quieter, with less ?football on satellite? and more local food. Here in Pollensa, you will also find Roman remains, and the ?Calvary Steps? - 365 of them up to a chapel on a hill with magnificent views over terracotta rooftops
The very eastern tip of the island houses Cape Formentor - drive up to the lighthouse, but get there before the coach trips. It?s a hairy, or scenic drive, depending on how you look at it. Formentor is also home to a very expensive hotel with a private beach lined with pines.
In the north, try the Sa Colobra (Snake...

Value for Money Holiday
Advantages: Cheap, large room, nice pool area and bar facilities, great location. Fantastic for children
Disadvantages: Quite expensive in the bar. May be too children orientated for couples in school holiday times
...Me and my girlfriend were looking for a cheap holiday when we found a Thomas Cook package holiday to Puerta Pollensa staying at the Villa Concha hotel apartments. We stayed there from 9th May to 16th May 2009 at a cost of about £230 each including flights and return transfer from the airport. A workmate had recommended Puerta Pollensa to me as it is a personal favourite of hers and I had a great week there and did not want to return! Villa Concha is a 3 star rated hotel situated in the north east of Majorca, 2 minutes from the beach and shops.
Hotel Bar
I will start off with one of the most important places for me. The hotel bar! The hotel has a bar restaurant next to the pool area which serves your average bar drinks such as wines, lagers and ciders with the addition of some quite exotic cocktails. It also serves various meals...
