Advantages: The sense of absolute cleanliness after using the Polti is unmatched with any other product.
Disadvantages: It is quite a bulky item, like a vacuum cleaner, so needs its own storage space.

...I bought this product a few years ago and can only say that if you don't much like housework but like a clean house then this is the product for you. The high temperature steam, delivered through brushes (protected by towel "baggies") means that dirt is immediately lifted off surfaces - floors, countertops etc) and the baggies themselves are washable as towels so completely re-usable. Small brush-heads mean you can lift hard deposits in ovens quite easily, and if defrosting is still a necessity then the speed with which this is achieved is just marvellous. The window cleaning squeegee attachments are brilliant - windows and mirrors have never seemed so clean! In hard water areas the addition of CalStop prevents limescale buildup and the Polti mail order service for phials of this product is very efficient.....

A mean steam clean

...I bought my Polti steam cleaner around two years ago, then priced at £299, including the iron attachment and can honestly say it was worth every penny. It looks rather like a large red cylinder vacuum cleaner, with a long electric lead and vacuum cleaner like attachments. On first unpacking everything, it may seem a little daunting at first. There is, however, an excellent instruction book and very useful video to help. These explain just how the Polti uses the power of steam, without any chemicals or cleansers, to remove dirt from almost anywhere in your home. Top-of-the-range, powerful and safe steam cleaning

...high pressure, so that you really are cleaning with steam! Less powerful makes tend to produce a lot of water thereby making the whole process a very wet and messy experience, but the Polti is extremely efficient and leaves very little water to mop up, no matter how much you steam. This model has a safety valve on the filling cap so that you can't unscrew it until the machine has cooled down completely (usually about 20 minutes or so; less if all of the steam has been used up). This safety device prevents you from being scalded. One complete fill of the machine in my experience generates enough steam for a good long session of cleaning, and there's a warning siren when it needs refilling. Something to get steamed up about

...My first introduction to the Polti Vaparetto was at Downtown Superstore, Grantham. Lincs. I was having a browse around and came across a demonstration of this steam cleaner. This machine cleaned everything imaginable and it was all done by steam with no addition of detergents and chemicals , thus sterilising as you go. When the lady demonstrator got to the ironing part she was suddenly enveloped in clouds of billowing steam and when it came to ironing shirts, she just hung them on a hanger and pointed the iron at them and, viola, creases dropped out as if by magic. I am a demonstrator's dream as I only have to look and I see, I lust, I crave and if cash permits, I buy. As this machine cost £349.99, I didn't have enough loose change in my pocket (OK, truth be told, I didn't even have it in my bank account) buying it...

Tefal Pro Express Turbo Steam Generator Iron.

Advantages: Laughs in the face of ironing!

I did wonder about spending such a lot on an iron (I paid 200!), but I am just starting a little ironing business from home so thought I could justify the expense. Cleaning without chemicals

Advantages: Easy to set up, no messing around, good build quality from a name you can trust
Disadvantages: Castors can be slow to move around, power cord could be longer

...trying to get stains out of the stair carpet is tricky as balancing the Polti on a stair tread is not for the faint hearted. The machine is fairly heavy when full, but it does have castors so you can pull it along. There is a safety pressure valve on the top where you fill with water that 'locks' itself when the pressure inside is too great, so that you can't take the top off until the machine has cooled down, and the dangerous steam pressure has subsided. This takes about 15 minutes, which is a bit of a pain especially when you are needing the machine on for a long time, have to refil once it is empty, then have to wait 15 minutes for it to cool down before you can get the top off. I've not had much success with the window cleaning tool - the steam generally turns back into water on contact with the colder glass and runs down the panes...

Can it do your ironing and cleaning in seconds? I wish....

...JML Steamstation Pro. This is a small machine which uses the power of steam to quickly and effectively clean, and to quickly and effectively steam clothes instead of ironing. I bought the steamstation from JML's own website http://www.jmldirect.com/Steam-Station-Pro-PS3415/ here you can see a small video and info about the product. It is £58.71 but i paid £80 for the upgraded version with all the attachments. I can't think this product would be of any use at all without the attachments so you may as well ignore the cheaper one. JML are very proffesional, it is easy to buy and delivery is very quick. I ordered this because i hate ironing and i thought that an easy and quick solution like this would be fantastic. Tesco Value Steam Iron

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: not so good for heavy creases

...Tesco Value Steam Iron I tend to try and never do any ironing whatsoever and it is mainly my partner who uses the iron for his work shirts. Most of my clothes contain enough stretch that once I put the clothes on the creases will stretch out and I am very cautious when the washing machine has finished and I get the clothes out and onto the line as quickly as possible so that as little creases as possible are put into the clothes. Also I find giving the clothes all a good shake before putting them on the line reduces any creases therefore reducing ironing to nil!! But the iron that we previously had was a very old one and after my accidentally knocking it off of the shelf it lives and smashing the plug to within an inch of its life it was my responsibility to buy the new one. I was pretty slack in rushing out to get one...

Steamy and Versatile Italian in Daily Use.

...also remove creases and refresh clothes with the small brush. This is useful if you need to pep up a suit that you have forgotten to take to the dry-cleaners. The steam is also a good way of lifting out stains. If you want a really good steam iron you can buy an iron to attatch to the main steaming unit. The bathroom.............. Cleans all the bathroom fittings sink, toilet, bath, shower head, wall and floor tiles. Great at removing soap scum from around the taps. I probably have used it for even more things than this but I hope you get the idea. All this just using tap water I have bought very few chemical cleaners over the last three years. I live in a soft water area and do not have a big limescale problem, but Polti claim that the stainless steel tank resists the limescale sticking and it should not be a problem if you rinse it...

Fantastic - The Best

...I purchased this after seeing a demonstration and I have not been disappointed. There isn't a week go by when it is not in use. I defrost my freezers, clean out my fridge and microwave with it and it is simply the best cooker and over cleaner. I clean cupboard doors, worktops, tiles, floors, carpets - everything even the windows and I use it on jackets and suits. Great bathroom and loo cleaner too. It is constantly in demand from friends and neighbours. Easy to use - I have saved a fortune on cleaning materials - you do not need any at all. Everything is so clean and fresh afterwards. The house doesn't fill up with steam and there is virtually no condensation. It runs for a long time on a full tank of water. I don't know what I did without it! I have even steam cleaned the inside of my greenhouse with it....
