...The Hotel Royal Kenz in the Resort of Port El Kantaoui in Tunisia was recently my Home for 7 nights between the 2nd and 9th July 2006. The Holiday itself was a last minute booking but the Girl at the Travel Agent's said that She had stayed at this Hotel and that it was superb. The price for the total package, including Flights and transfers was incredibly cheap at just under £200 Half Board for 7 nights and so the booking was made. FIRST IMPRESSIONS I had seen a picture of the Hotel in the Brochure so I knew that this was one of the largest Hotels in the Resort with 405 Rooms. I also knew that it had only three Floors and that it was therefore spread out over quite a wide area within its own Grounds. Port Royale: Pirates or what?

Advantages: Great, interesting gameplay, never the same game twice
Disadvantages: can be rather difficult and hard to play

...have better speed and manuverability whith which to further batter it The game has a basic story which has a young man going off to seek vengence on a bunch of pirates who killed his mother and captured his sister...ok so the storyline isn't that great... but it gives an incentive to increase in rank so you can manage more ships and you get harder missions (the rewards also increase as due compensation) For example at the beginning you may be asked ot just move a few settlers about.. then you may be asked to capture colonies for the good of the cuntry you serve. To capture a colony you have two options, you either get lots of soldiers to and take them to the colony you wish to capture and they fight the troops stationed to protect the colony.. or you fight a naval battle by which you have to destroy all the cannon protecting the port...

...mixed reports of not only the Country as a whole but also of Port El Kantaoui and so I arrived with trepidation. FIRST IMPRESSIONS We arrived around Midday on a Sunday afternoon after a flight of just over 3 hours from Manchester. The Sun was belting down and there was not a single Cloud in the Sky, the temperature gauge on the Wall outside the Hotel where we was staying read 46 Degrees Centigrade and it was hung in the shade, the Weather was certainly a far cry from what we had left behind in England, despite the fact that England was about to enter into a mini heat wave of its own, but on a much less severe scale. Bon Vacances at Port Bourgenay

Advantages: Masses to do, something for everyone.
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit pricey in high season

...beyond our budget if it wasn't for the Clubcard vouchers that are worth four times their face value, but after much debate and research we plumped for Port Bourgenay, run by Pierre et Vacances, as it looked like it was in a perfect location, is close to the beach, and there seemed to be a lot to do. It cost somewhere in the region of £1000 for the accommodation (£250 in deals) for seven nights and £300 for the return ferry. ~*~ Location ~*~ We live in the south west, so a Portsmouth - Cherbourg crossing is ideal for us. We always get the earliest ferry (around 9am) so we arrive in France around 3pm which gives us plenty of time to drive to our accommodation and settle in by bed time. Or so I thought! ...This is another hotel from Accor, the founders of Ibis. However i am reviewing the Etap hotel situated on the outskirts of Paris, within an area known as Kremlin Bicetre. In this area, you have the choice between an Ibis hotel, a Novotel and the Etap, as well as various other smaller establishments, of which the Etap is by far the least expensive. The Etap Hotel Paris Porte D'Italie is split into two buildings; Ouest (west) and Est (east). Whereas the western hotel has 144 rooms, the eastern has 171. However both offer the same value for money. But please remember these are low budget, no frills hotels so don't expect to be living in the lap of luxury! The French Etaps are cheaper than those in the UK and will only set you back 48 Euros (around £33) per room per night. But bear in mind there is a 3 Euro suppliment for the second...

...We spent a wonderful long weekend in Porto. One of our places to visit if we get round to it. Whilst we where there we visited the Port Wharfs, due to the name and my love of Port. We set off on the Sunday morning, and had a varied trip to get there by the tram, vehicular and the old trolley bus. We travelled over the bridge designed by Eifel who designed the Eifel Tower, in fact he designed two bridges that span the Rio Douro, both well worth walking over if you have a head for heaths go on the top level if not use the lower level, your choice. As you are on the higher level looking over the Douro River you have a vista of all of the Port houses, all the names that you have heard of at Christmas on the TV, and seen in the adverts in the papers and magazines. ...Barcelona's Port Vell is a fabulous oasis of restaurants, bars, a huge aquarium (the largest in Europe), a shopping mall, and an Imax cinema. An amazing bridge takes you across to these delights. We came across Port Vell by accident, we had walked along Les Ramblas and as we got to the bottom we could glimpse the sea and a huge wooden wave suspended in air, which intrigued us. The huge wave was part of a fantastic swing bridge, which is as wide as it is long and is on two levels. Judging by the amount of people making the crossing we decided that there must be something to see at the other end. After stopping half way across and sitting on one of the many benches scattered over the bridge we watched the world go by relaxing with the sun on our faces and the sea and boats swaying in the gentle breeze. Port El Kantaoui staying at the Vincci Hotel

Advantages: Good weather

...We flew with Kathargo Airlines from Edinburgh to Monastir. The flight time is about 3 and a half hours. The airline was very basic with no in flight entertainment and the usual meals were served. The aircraft was obviuosly quite old with shabby seats and trays that didn't work or were broken. If on a Boeing 737 then don't sit near the centre of the plane (seat 12 to 14) as the legroom is quite ridiculous! On Arrival at Monastir be prepared for long queues whilst you go through immigration. After collecting your baggage don't worry about finding your coach, as there'll be a willing porter ready to whisk you and your luggage off to the desired coach park.
