I went to prison in South Africa

Advantages: An important place in South African history
Disadvantages: Not a place that evokes happy memories

...Robben island Museum Robben Island which is just a short boat ride from the mainland in Cape Town is most famous for being the place where Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners were held captive for many years during the Apartheid regime in South Africa. Today it is no longer a prison but has been turned into a museum and guided tours of can be taken of the island to view the various historical sites. The island is an official World Heritage site today. If you would like to take a trip or just want to read more about the place than I can tell you then the website is www.robben-island.org.za. We tried to book at the ticket office down at the V&A waterfront but their internet was down so we ended up booking online. The tickets were 200Rand per person ( about 11 Rand to the £1 when we were there) . We just printed them off...

Port Elizabeth - The friendly city

Advantages: Clean, friendly and cheap
Disadvantages: Windy

...Having lived in Port Elizabeth for just under a year and subsequently visited there many times I find that it is indeed the most friendly city in the country. A clean beautiful city with sandy beaches, lively nightlife and loads of attractions for the whole family. Whatever type of holiday you enjoy, Port Elizabeth can offer you the very best of what you want - from a campsite holiday to a five star hotel. Attractions include Bayworld, St George's Park, Settler's Park and loads of historical buildings. If you are visiting South Africa be sure not to miss this beautifull city which is less than 2 hours away by plane from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban....

South Africa - A World of its own

Advantages: It is beautiful, lots of things to do and see, good tourist facilities for both families and travellers, this place is amazing all round!
Disadvantages: Some areas can be very dangerous - but then most countries do
