Change the World - Pay it Forward

Advantages: Somewhat original story, original concept, great performances, touching, makes you think
Disadvantages: A bit over sentimental for some (you'll need to be armed with tissues!)

...- Introduction - I first heard of the movie Pay It Forward through an interview with my favourite music group, the Backstreet Boys. My favourite member Brian has mentioned a few times in interviews that this was at least one of his favourite movies and otherwise, I hadn't heard of it. It came out in 2000 but I don't remember hearing anything about it on TV at the time (maybe I was busy then, I don't know) and so I guess it sort of slipped under my radar. Anyway, I was recently looking for DVDs of movies to purchase for watching over the festive holiday season and when I came across this title, I thought, from the little I'd heard of it, it sounded like it would make for quite a good movie to watch over Christmas and New Year. Amazon.co.uk are selling it pretty cheap at the moment, for £5.97 (plus about £1.24 for regular p&p costs...

FlashForward - An Alternative Drama To Lost!

Advantages: Novel idea, good action scenes.
Disadvantages: Far fetched to say the least. Full of coincidences galore.

As luck would have it, there is an FBI agent (Mark Benford), who is on the case, who thinks that his FlashForward will hold the key to why this has happened and if it is likely to happen again. He begins to follow leads and try to piece varying Flashforwards together. Even luckier, is a piece of footage that shows a person was awake at the time of the blackout in a soccer stadium, why were they awake and who are they? I don't want to say too much, so that I don't spoil it for anyone, but needless to say, some people aren't too happy with what they see in the future and some are just confused. Opinion The first episode got of to a fast pace and you were quickly introduced to the main characters and their back story. Advantages: Beautiful Beaches
Disadvantages: Mainly For Couples, Hassle From Local Shopkeekers

...Port Aventura is in Spain, it is a theme park that is split into five different themes which are China, Far West, Mediterrania, Mexico and Polynesia. These lands are all decorated alike the country they are named after, the attention paid to the decoration is brilliant and it really gives you that fun theme park feeling. There is also a water park called the Costa Caribe which has an in and outdoor pool and some really good rides within it, there are different slides and rafting slides and a nice place to relax and catch a tan in this park. The water park is clean and has pleasant caribean surroundings. This park is only open in the summer period of the year, it can be very busy but is a great place to visit when you are visiting Port Aventura. Bon Vacances at Port Bourgenay

Advantages: Masses to do, something for everyone.
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit pricey in high season

...beyond our budget if it wasn't for the Clubcard vouchers that are worth four times their face value, but after much debate and research we plumped for Port Bourgenay, run by Pierre et Vacances, as it looked like it was in a perfect location, is close to the beach, and there seemed to be a lot to do. It cost somewhere in the region of £1000 for the accommodation (£250 in deals) for seven nights and £300 for the return ferry. ~*~ Location ~*~ We live in the south west, so a Portsmouth - Cherbourg crossing is ideal for us. We always get the earliest ferry (around 9am) so we arrive in France around 3pm which gives us plenty of time to drive to our accommodation and settle in by bed time. Or so I thought! "Calem" Port the taste of Porto

We set off on the Sunday morning, and had a varied trip to get there by the tram, vehicular and the old trolley bus. We travelled over the bridge designed by Eifel who designed the Eifel Tower, in fact he designed two bridges that span the Rio Douro, both well worth walking over if you have a head for heaths go on the top level if not use the lower level, your choice. ...Barcelona's Port Vell is a fabulous oasis of restaurants, bars, a huge aquarium (the largest in Europe), a shopping mall, and an Imax cinema. An amazing bridge takes you across to these delights. We came across Port Vell by accident, we had walked along Les Ramblas and as we got to the bottom we could glimpse the sea and a huge wooden wave suspended in air, which intrigued us. The huge wave was part of a fantastic swing bridge, which is as wide as it is long and is on two levels. Judging by the amount of people making the crossing we decided that there must be something to see at the other end. After stopping half way across and sitting on one of the many benches scattered over the bridge we watched the world go by relaxing with the sun on our faces and the sea and boats swaying in the gentle breeze. FlashForward - I'm lost!

Advantages: Complex storyline and good characterisation
Disadvantages: There's going to be a lot of these so don't expect answers quickly

...Flashforward is a new series that has started on channel 5 on Mondays (and repeated on Fiver on Friday's for those watching America's Next Top Model or football) and apparently is the show that's going to get everyone watching 5. I have watched the first few episodes and am hooked. The show starts with introducting the central FBI characters and then the moment when everyone across the world blackouts for 137 seconds simultaneously. During this time everyone has flash forwards - glimpses of the future which they soon find out all correspond to the same point in time 6 months into the future. The central character has a glimpse of himself looking at the investigation board for the flash forward investigation and the team start using clues from this to investigate what happened and why. Spacey, Hunt, Osment: Pay It Forward Utopia

Advantages: Emotionally intense. Extremely well acted.
Disadvantages: Plot rather cheesy and saccharine at times.
