Veron, Verona, wherefore art thou Verona
Advantages: Beautiful City, lots to see & do
Disadvantages: None
...with theatre & amphitheatre. The city goes back much further than the Romans though, and the oldest recorded settlement here was in the 2nd Centenary BC.
The city now follows the Roman street plan, so it is very easy to find your way around.
In the 1800's the Austrians constructed defensive walls were further out from the city centre, these walls still exist, and you can in fact walk on them right the way around Verona (it will take the best part of a day to do it though) I did most of it, and there are some amazing gates (Porta) to see
*** How do you get there? ***
I flew to Verona direct from Gatwick with British Airways, there are many other airlines which land here. The taxi from the Airport to my hotel was 30 Euro
You could get the train to Verona, from many parts of Europe. The city centre is a 20 minute walk from...

Where for art thou Verona
Advantages: A beautiful city with lots to offer
Disadvantages: Italy itself can be a little expensive
...During my recent holiday to Italy Verona was one of the cities that I visited. Verona is a city in Northern Italy not far from Lake Garda. Due to its geographical position the city has frequently flooded in the past and as you travel round the city this can be noted by water markings on bridges and walls. Verona was also the town that Julius Caesar visited for his relaxing stays and features strongly in the travel diaries of Goethe. Furthermore Verona is also the town were Dante wrote the second part of his 'Divine Comedy'. Despite all of this however Verona is probably most famous for being the setting for William Shakespeare's most famous tragedy, Romeo and Juliet.
So what can you do in Verona?
Verona due to its historical heritage has a great many tourist attractions that draw in the crowds. These attractions include The Arena...

A Clear performance for Verona
Advantages: A Cheap, but good performing LCD monitor
Disadvantages: Contrast ratio could be improved
...I've had my 22" Hannspree Verona for a while now, and I've only got a good opinion of it. I purchased it from Misco for £145, where I also added an HDMI cable. That's right - It has both VGA and HDMI connection sockets.. Whether you want to hook it up to your PC (my graphics card has an HDMI port) or your DVD player you can do it with the increased clarity afforded by HDMI.
***Features***
The monitor itself boasts several features in addition to the HDMI connectivity. With a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050 there is ample of space on the desktop, and allows for a large display area. It features a contrast ratio of 1000:1, and an image brightness of 300cd/m2. Whilst the contrast ratio isn't the best out on the market, it is more than sufficient for most daily tasks (If you use its dynamic contrast then you can increase this...

Verona Opera festival
Advantages: Culture, music and Shopping
Disadvantages: Can't think of any except perhaps the crowds at Opera time
...OK, now I know this might not be everyones idea of a great night out but if you are in or around Verona between June and August you should really try it.
The Verona Opera Festival takes place every year in the open air arena in the centre of Verona this year its between 19th June and 31st August, they usually perform about 4 different operas on a rotating schedule, one of these is nearly always Aida. If thats a bit too high brow for you they also usually have one of the lighter operas such as Carmen on offer as well. The arena itself seats about 22,000 (no thats not a typo) when full which most nights it is. Unlike the atmosphere and cost of somewhere like Covent Garden, this is very much a people place. Tickets cost as little as 24Euros (thats about £17) for this you get to sit on the stone steps all the way round the arena...

Tomy Verona
Advantages: cosy toes for added warmth and handy front pocket. Ease of use
Disadvantages: limited use for larger babies
...Price:£44.99
We chose the Tomy Verona carrier over other models as it seemed especially versatile and came with a handy cosy toes attachment. It was ideal for carrying our daughter round the house while she was very small, both when we needed our hands free and when she wouldn't sleep - the combined closeness and movement sent her off quite quickly. The cosy toes was also very useful as it buttoned on or off without having to remover the harness. However, she outgrew the cosy toes in a couple of months.
The harness was relatively easy to put on single-handedly although more than one pair of hands was useful for the first couple of times.
The forward facing position for older babies was also good, allowing them the freedom to look around. However we found with bulky winter clothes this put added strain on the popper fastenings...

IN FAIR VERONA
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...Verona, the home of a play by some English writer can’t remember much some fighting and ends in tragedy. Not a bad act, that writer may be going somewhere. What’s more important thought is the football in the city, never mind some old story.
Tim Parks is an English author. Some years ago he went to live in Italy, just outside Verona the setting for this story. He has a strong pedigree for writing both fiction and non-fiction, his novel Europa was short listed for the Booker prize and there is an impressive list of his other works. In Italy he works for a local university as well as his writing and tours of Europe. Not a bad job really.
This book, A Season With Verona is an interesting combination of a travel guide and football. Hellas Verona are the top side in the city of Verona, and Tim Parks’s side. In this...

A Lot More Than Romeo And Juliet
Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: None
...It could be said that in the past year I've gone to Verona a little too often, especially considering I don't live in Italy. That said, I'd go back tomorrow. This beautiful city has got so much to offer a visitor and even after three visits I don't think I've scratched the surface of it, but I'm going to try and talk you through some of my highlights of this great place.
Perhaps most famous to Brits as the city where Romeo and Juliet is set, Verona lies in Northern Italy, in the Veneto region. Verona is the capital of one of the seven Veneto provinces. The Verona province includes a number of gorgeous little surrounding towns, including Soave, which is my pick of the bunch - a little walled city, complete with castle on the top of a hill, a 1000 year old church, plenty of places to go of an evening for food and drink, and home to...

Gotta picka potti or two?
Advantages: Doubles up as an excellent temporary toilet
Disadvantages: Can be a bit heavy when it's full! And beware of "splash back!"
...The Thetford Porta Potti 465 - to give it its full name - has been a godsend!
Now, I'll 'fess up straight away. I am not a caravaner, and the last time I went camping was in the 1970s when I was a kid.
So why have I spent over a hundred quid on one of these?
We've been having an extension built, and have lost the use of the bathroom and toilet. So, I installed a porta potti on the upstairs landing for Mrs Tweaker - who's heavily pregnant - while I, being less choosy, use the honking, festering builder's bog out in the garden.
So what are the advantages of a Porta Potti? It's small, so you can tuck it away in a corner. It's fairly easy to keep clean, and easy to use.
Think of it as two containers: the bottom one takes the waste, and the top one - which you sit on - takes the water for flushing.
My Porta Potti has...

Exceeded my expectations
Advantages: Clean and cheap-ish, close to main train station
Disadvantages: Not a great place for socialising
...When booking a holiday, half the fun is deciding where you're going to stay. You can look at all the hotel websites, try to find the best prices, and?read hotel reviews. This in itself can be an interesting experience, as hotel experiences can be so very subjective. When someone says "This is a Dump!" Do they really mean it? Is the bed crawling with rats? Are wall sockets hanging out of the walls? Or are they a snobby git who won't consider staying in a hotel that doesn't provide complimentary toiletries? On websites that aren't as comprehensive as Ciao, someone might leave a one line comment about a hotel, and it's up to you to decipher the tone, meaning and subtext of that one little comment. This was the dilemma I was faced with when trying to book a night in a Milan hotel a few months ago. Choosing the Hotel Verona, reviews...

Awe inspring views, and history await
Advantages: amazing history, beautiful sights
Disadvantages: somewhat crowded at times
...Having lived on the island of Sardinia, Italy for two years of my life, my family has made quite a few friends in Italy. One of my best friends that I have kept it contact with throughout the years, is my friend Paoli, who still lives in Italy. From time to time, Paoli, sends me and now my wife and I tickets to come out and visit him, and view the country he loves so much. As I have been to quite a few different cities, three weeks worth on my visit just last year with my wife, I have seen a great deal of Italy. If you wish to know where to visit and when to visit, please feel free to look at my other reviews on Italy, listed at the bottom of this review. I plan to write out reviews on the some thirty cities that I have been to throughout the country of Italy. Feel free to read them all.
