...I was given this player to keep me occupied on my many long bus and train journeys. THE PLAYER This is a Japanese mp3 and CD player, which comes in a silver and blue top with a grey base. It is 13cmx13cmx2½cm which is about average size, so its more bag sized than pocket sized. It comes with an adapter and ear bud type headphones. It only has a small display area, so only displays limited information on it, such as which track and album or how long the song has been playing for. There are also little icons to display what modes you have it on, which are discussed later. The buttons are fairly small, so not fab it you are fumbling about in the dark or going under a tunnel, or if you have any arthritic type problems that makes it difficult to press small buttons. CD/MP3 player of kings

...Whenever I?ve had to choose a CD player like this, for me or for a present, the first thing I look at is the battery time. This is what first led me to this player, it advertises 30+ hours of CD playback and 48 hours of mp3 playback (these are for non-stop playback, with no skipping. Using the skip a lot will reduce battery time and giving it resting time between playbacks increases battery time.) Those numbers seemed pretty amazing to me from just 2AA batteries. So I bought it.... The round shape looks great and I can?t see how a CD player could get much smaller. It feels very well built, and it takes very big bumps (unusually big) to get it to skip. The remote control is useful for whenever you are carrying it around in your pocket or a bag and don?t want to have to reach into your pocket and fumble around for the buttons...

We were in Tesco and noticed this product for only £15, so I took a closer look. ...I have been debating whether to splash out on an mp3 player for quite some time now but always seemed to have something else to spend the money on so had not purchased one until now. While picking up some essentials I spotted the Technika MP-906 mp3 player which Tesco are currently retailing for £4.97 and so decided that at under £5 what the hell. I have to say it is probably the best £5 I have ever spent. For this price you don't expect much and so I was expecting a lightweight flimsy feeling piece of kit, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The first thing you notice when you remove the player from the packaging is the quality feel of the player. MP3 Player MP-906, Cheap and Cheerful

Advantages: Cheap! small, user friendly, no-one will ever want to steal it and you can replace cheaply if it breaks!
Disadvantages: No locking device, non standard headphones, obviously not hi-tech!

Plays MP3s and WMAs Also comes with: headphones, 1 x (non rechargeable) battery, tiny instruction manual. ~~Uploading songs~~ Take the little plastic nodule-type lid off to reveal a USB connector. Stick it in your USB port. If you have Windows 2000 or later it will recognize it, if not you can apparently download the right driver from the Tesco website. It says in the instruction manual that you can just copy and paste files onto it like a normal storage device. I found I could do this with songs I'd already copied to my hard drive, but not when I just put a CD in. For that I used the 'rip' function on Windows Media Player. I think this is to do with the copyright or the software, rather than this MP3 player as my old one was the same, but thought I would mention...

Great MP3 Player - Simplicity and Elegance

The Most Cost Efficient Way For MP3 on the Move

Advantages: Music on the Move , And Very Cheap after initial set up
Disadvantages: Cost of initial set up (if you dont already have the kit)

...I see lots of reviews for the Creative Labs portable hard drive (300 GBP) and various other portable MP3 players (100 GBP to 300GPB but with very limited playtime and very expensive removable media). Not only that , the Sunday supplements and PC mags tell us that we need to spend at least 250 GBP to have MP3 on the move. First of all MP3 is music , and the cheapest way to get music on the move is on tape. A SONY walkman costs from about 11.99 GBP with tapes of varying length for around 1GBP. This is convenient but , I don’t like compiling tapes any more and tape is inherently fragile. Next step up is minidisk, you can get a portable recorder for around 100GBP (Argos are doing a Sharp one in their sale, and always check out Richer Sounds) with mini disks around 1.5 GBP for a reasonable quality disk. More convenient than tape...
