...This is a great little hard drive. Its small, light and very portable. I bought one for work a few months ago, and have since purchase 5 more for work use and one for me to use at home :) 3 of the siz drives are used on Mac OS X with no problems, and the other 3 are used as portable storage or for backups. The price is right, reliability isn't an issue, and ease of use is second to none - literally just plug in and go. It uses a standard mini-usb (think camera) plug which is supplied with the unit. Also comes with sync software on the drive - I havent used this myself but my colleagues report good things about it. I would recommend this, although you may want to look at the larger size drives (160/250gb) as they are also good on price and the extra space comes in very hand for storage.... Read review

...of the inspiron that you know dell have got an amazingly designed laptop. It features a Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 / 1.66 Ghz processor that runs the 1gb of installed ram inside, also this 1 gb of ram can be upgraded to a maximum of 4gb. This is great for those users who want something a little quicker, and I find that after a while your laptop becomes slower, then you may want to add an extra gb of ram I=to increase the speed and it really does work too. It was great to see this laptop has a 160 gb hard drive, because most laptops with 1gb of ram only have 80 gb or 120 gb or hard drive. 160 gb of hard drive is more than enough for anyone really and even if you do need more storage, you could always buy an external hard drive and plug it into any 1 of the 4 hi-speed usb ports. Forget about the 5 in 1 card readers, now you have a fantastic 8 in one card... Read review

...I did buy this because i thought it very good and so the review that follows. Design The portable hard drive comes in an attractive silver and white case that has USB2 and FireWire 400 ports. It is a fully functional travel companion and easily fits into a rucksack or laptop bag. This is feasable because it weighs relatively little and is easy to handle. Installation The instructions were easy to follow and it installed by windows wizard as soon as i plugged it in, so within 20 minutes i was backing up my files. Performance Performance is good for a portable hard disk, and there was no real difference in speed between the two interfaces. ...I bought this hard drive just over a week ago - it's served me very well, and i've been surprised. It's labelled as a portable hard drive - and this is what it is. It's roughly the same size as the average hardback book, and is not much heavier. It's made of an attractive grey material with a silver front, with a tiny little '160GB' light, that illuminates when then hard drive is on. It's not too large, and only has a small on/off switch on the back, and the port for powering it from AC (an adapter is included), and a USB2.0 socket. The hard drive comes with all the right software - its ready to use straight out of the box, just plug in and go. ...the dell latitude is basically the working mans laptop, its design is quite simple and looks a bit boring to be honest. this is a solid piece of epuiptment and will proably last you quite a while. it has Intel Core 2 Duo T7300, 2.00GHz processor which is pretty fast, also it has a massive 4gb of installed ram, which is the most iv seen in a laptop before. all this makes it run so fast which is great for demanding programs which need alot of memory. it also has a 160 gb built in hard drive which is really all anyone needs. also the best thing about this is how portable it is, it only weighs 2.4 kg whereas most weigh 3-4 kg. it has a 15.4 inch screen which is not small but is ok because of its portability. basically if you want somthing which is super fast then really get this, however if you want somthing cheaper and your not too... Advantages: Relatively fast transfer rate, light, portable, reliable, looks good.
Disadvantages: Can be unexpectedly slow at times, can cause problems when unexpectedly disconnected.

.... Downsides are the obvious - heavy use of this drive means that a laptop battery will be drained a lot quicker than usual unless it itself is connected to a power source. However, this can be useful when on the move or (as I found out - during a power outage at home). Also, as much as I love Western Digital drives there are some times when they take a lot longer to load files than usual - and computers (certainly laptops) are often susceptible to problems when they are disconnected from these drives unexpectedly. All in all, as far as I am concerned Western Digital should always be trusted and as for these drives in particular - for about £50 you are getting a portable cyber-space of 160GB (equivalent to the volume of memory which most whole laptops have). ...with 80gb Hard drives being the norm in most entry level pc's the price of the 160gb hdd is dropping. If you are looking for a reliable Hard drive for storage of MP3s, video or even gameing then the 160gb will be up your street. The space on the Drive makes it ideal of an entry level "pvr" system. I am currently using one of these as a secondary drive. I have so far managed to record 8hrs of tv to it at decent quality and still have plenty of space left..... The drive Is sata 150 with 8mb cache and 7200rpm spindle. This enables faster reading and writing to the drive. You will need to have a System Board that supports sata 150 or purchase a sata pci card if you want to run the drive in an older machine. You can buy a convetor which will enable you to plug the drive into a normal 40 pin IDE port. Ther is a warning to this though... Read review

...spending a silly amount on a laptop. For example, you could buy a 3 gb or even 4 gb of ram laptop, however these would go over the £1500 or even £2000 mark. Whereas this laptop only costs around £500 which for 2 gb of ram is a great price. Its doesn’t disappoint in hard drive space either, as it delivers a very impressive 160 gb of storage for all your files to be saved on. I certainly have never needed a laptop with more than 160 gb and have never even filled a laptop with over 80 gb of data before, however its always good to know you can basically put whatever you want on your laptop and the space will never run out. The screen size of this laptop is 15.4 inches. Which is around the average, and will be ok for basic laptop needs. Its not a great size for watching movies on however, and you might find it a little small if you do like... Read review
