Cheap and Very Cheerful!
Advantages: Fantastic price, great location
Disadvantages: None
...04:00am until noon. Snacks are available from the bar/reception 24 hours.
Alarm calls were available from reception on request.
There are two lifts in the hotel.
Climate control is available in the room for when you are too hold or cold.
Location
The hotel is located halfway down Portland Street in the middle of Chinatown. This really is a fabulous location ? only five minutes walk from the centre of everything including Piccadilly Station.
Food and drink
We didn?t eat breakfast in the hotel but had quite a few snacks. The food was great and reasonably priced. We also took advantage of the 24 hour bar service and ordered a margherita pizza at 3am while having a drink (or ten) in the bar. The only down point of the full weekend was that they forgot about the pizza the first time and had to put another one in for us...

Portland's Olympic Dreams
Advantages: Enjoyable location for outdoor walks and adventures
Disadvantages: Scary locals, and rough neighbourhoods
...with louts) in my day my friends and I would meet up at about 6pm hand around the streets till it turned dark then ww would go to the Chinese takeaway at the end of Chiswell, before returning to the park where we would sit in the middle of the bowing green eating our Chinese meal, putting the world to rights. The only louts back then in the 80's were me and my friends.
To the left of the park is a playing field, the junior school used to play there summer games here, although it belonged to the Navy. At the top is a cemetery, where many of the locals of Chiswell were buried, it's not been used for many years. As you enter Castletown you have the Portland Hospital which now for the first time in over 50 years has an accident an emergency department. Carry on past this and you have a swimming baths and a few shops, nothing overly exciting...

Portland Hotel, Skuba And Grill Resturant
Advantages: RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THE MUST SEE'S AND DO'S OF FOLKESTONE
Disadvantages: PARKING
...The Portland Hotel, Skuba Bar & Grill Restaurant.
Owned by a gay couple called Lee & Tin, These guys have made a name for themselves in this establishment and the town. About 7 years ago this building was run down and dirty. They bought at auction with great prospects.
Over the years the popularity of the bar has grown substantially. Started off as 'gay friendly' only gay people went to the bar and a handful of straight people or the hotel guests. Now homosexuality is more accepted, it is mixed and very busy especially in the summer.
Bar and Beer Gardens & Terrace
It has an outdoor drinking area with garden in front which greets all people from different walks of life. Pets are also too welcome in the garden and can grab a bowl whilst their owners grab a pint...

Perfect Portland
Advantages: Good Prices
Disadvantages: Only Book Direct
...I would receommend Portalnd Holidays Direct to anyone who doesnt mind booking their holiday direct and anyone who likes a Thomson holiday as Portland is part of the Thomson/Tui group - so your getting the same as you would get travelling with Thomson.
How to book
-----------------
You can only book by telephone or internet.
If you book online on the internet they normally give online discounts - look out for special online booking offers.
Their website is completley secure so you can feel safe using your credit/debit card to pay. If you pay a deposit you can pay additional amounts by telephone to their dedicated after sales team.
If you book by telephone there is a dedicated call centre waiting to take your call - in my experiences they have always been really friendly and helpful and give honest opinions.
I have never...

Portlands complaint
Advantages: offered ad-free free hosting, CGI bins etc.
Disadvantages: server downtime, very slow service. ftp access always oversubscribed. Low bandwidth allowances.
...That malapropism will have eluded all but the most literary minded, but hey never mind!
I saw this free ISP and webhosting site and was looking at it to host a small site for a friend, whilst I was having server troubles. I looked at the whole package and it didn't look bad, as they were offering a dial-up ISP service, pop accounts, domain registration, and for those wanting to run their own ISP, there were a variety of packages available, as well as the opportunity for server colocation and also the opportunity to buy servers through them.
Seeing as their site shows them to be ISP of the month according to Internet Magazine for September 2000 and November 2000, I was expecting something pretty good, and the fact that at the present there are apparently in excess of 160,000 sites hosted at Portland looked impressive, and a sign...

Oregon's Beautiful Capitol. Portlands Surprise.
Advantages: A lively modern town with beautiful mountain & rivers.
Disadvantages: 'Tis on "the far side"
...houses that line the streets. It truly is magical. A view of Portlands skyline at Chrismas from afar, is just staggering. I arrived for my first visit in November, when the Xmas light spectacular had just been switched on, I was living across the Colubia River and the view of the Portland skyline was just so awe-inspiring. A town so little spoken about, that can provide such beauty.
In the garden of the A-Frame house where I was a staying with friends, provided almost as much entertainment and the town itself. We were halfway up a mountain, surrounded by masses of natural forrest land.
The first night of my visit I was woken by the weird howling of coyotes pack-running through the garden during the night.
During the day the blue jays, the size of our magpies!, hopped from tree to tree. The American robin, the size of our...

Street Lurvin'
Advantages: Lots of big tunes
Disadvantages: A couple of tunes lack energy
...The Atlanta R&B singer Lloyd (Polite) released his second album in 2007. The record, ?Street Love? featured some of his most well-known tracks, and although he broke through with his debut, this is the album which had him really come up with some of his highest-quality work.
1. ?Lloyd? (Intro)
2. ?You?
Samplign Spandau Ballet?s ?True?, this one finds the artist doing a banger of a collaboration with Lil? Wayne, in the time when Weezy started off his streak of featured tracks designed as a build-up to his ?Tha Carter III? album. It gets this thing underway well and shows off his incredible vocals form the get-go.
**Five Stars**
3. ?Certified?
It is Jazzy Pha who is seen to behind this one, and it appears that he really knows what to do (based upon his Crunk & B work with other Atlanta R&B singers, and so in order to bring in that...

Super hotel in the heart of Manchester
Advantages: Location, staff, nice rooms
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I have had the pleasure of staying here on business on several occasions. My mother?s family come from Manchester so I always really enjoy visiting Manchester.
About the hotel:
The Arora Manchester is a four star hotel with over 140 bedrooms. It?s part owned by Cliff Richard and there are even five special Cliff bedrooms decorated with his memorabilia if you like that kind of thing! The location on Princess Street is also excellent as you are in the city centre and only 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly station if you arrive by train. It?s also about a 20-minute journey from the airport, which is also very convenient. The hotel doesn?t have it?s own car park but apparently guests can use the nearby NCP to park at a discounted rate.
First Impressions:
It?s an old fashioned looking building but it also looks quite grand. It is also...

Buxton great, Portland Hotel not great
Advantages: Close to the Pavillion Gardens
Disadvantages: Below par food, below par rooms.
...Buxton is a picturesque town, clearly a place for holidays for the well-off in days gone by. The Portland Hotel is located near the Opera House, and opposite the Pavilion Gardens (but with a view of the car park, rather than the gardens), and may have been a decent hotel once, but not anymore.
It's a medium sized, with 22 rooms, and it definitley looks like it may have seen more affluent times in years gone by.
All rooms are en suite. However, our room had an extremely small en suite? erm, I can't call it a bathroom? toilet with a shower in.
Our room was nicely decorated, but somehow felt like a very standard B & B room - possibly because of the smell of smoke which was lingering on everything in there.
The publicity states that you have Sky TV - in our room that seemed to be restricted to one sports channel and 2 radio channels...
