Slimming world - a positive experience

Advantages: Support and advice from people who know how you feel.
Disadvantages: Works out costly

...I have tried all the well know slimming clubs and diets, but i have to say Slimming world is the best I have tried. I haven't succeeded in losing any near the amount of weight I need to, but I have lost by far the most through slimming world. I am joining back up with them this coming week and hopefully this time will be the time I follow through with it. The last time I stopped going was the cost, this (thankfully isn't an issue at the present time due to both myself and my husband getting better jobs). After I stopped going to the classes I tried to follow the plan but just didn't have the willpower to do it alone. It is amazing how much difference it makes having a group of people all supporting you. The plan itself is quite simple to follow you can choose to stick to red days or green days or a mix of both as long as...

The best hotel/attraction in Dubai

Advantages: Exclusive, brilliant, luxurious, great service
Disadvantages: very expensive

...The Burj Al Arab also known as The Tower of Arabs is one of the major attractions in Dubai. It is located on a man-made island on the Persian Gulf. It was once the tallest building in the world used exclusively as a hotel. It is now the third tallest hotel due to two taller buildings being built, which are used exclusively as hotels just like the Burj Al Arab. The second tallest hotel is located in North Korea and the hotel leading the way is also in Dubai and is called the Rose Tower. The Burj Al Arab is a staggering 321 metres (1,053 ft) and is one of the reasons why Dubai at the present time is on of the most popular holiday destinations. The Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island, which is approximately 280 metres (919 ft) out from Jumeirah Beach. The island on which the Burj Al Arab is located is connected to the mainland...

From Dubai With Love

Advantages: Dubai is a safe place with very good quality of life. There is universal brotherhood everywhere.
Disadvantages: None for me, but the hot weather for tourists who are not used to this.

...and take care of everybody, uniformly. If you feel that Dubai is an oasis in the middle of a desert with a few palm trees and some camels, it is high time that you change your notion. Dubai of today is an ultra modern metropolis cosmopolitan in all respects. It can vie with any European or American City. Rich in oil, Dubai is a trading hotpot. As history would unveil, it has been a bridge connecting Asia and Europe. Goods are re-traded from here to different parts of the world. The city is an example of proper town planning with high-rise buildings and villas with the most modern architectural vistas. The roads are well laid and neat and clean with planted greenery and trees. Litterbugs will have tough time, as there are stiff penalties for littering. The parking facilities are very satisfactory. There are many parks and gardens like Safa...

If in Dubai, stay at The Hilton Jumeirah!

Advantages: Beautiful beach hotel in the most buzzing area of Dubai!
Disadvantages: There is still construction surrounding the hotel, but everywhere has to start somewhere.

.... Coming this August it will be a a short taxi ride away from the largest Shopping Mall in the world, The Dubai Mall. The hotel sits on the beach front on the far side of the Jumeirah Beach and has stunning veiws of The Palm Jumeirah. It must be mentioned that there were problems with the construction surrounding the hotel, however this has now all calmed down signifiicantly and construction is now mostly taking place inside the builidngs and is therefore quiet. The road system is back to normal and the area beauification is underway, in other words it doesn't look like a construction site anymore!! The hotel itself is in fact 4 star, however it rivals most of the 5 star hotels that we know in western Europe. Dubai just has a much more competitive rating system than that found in the rest of the world, considering that their competition is...

Chilled out in a Hot Dubai!

Advantages: good location, nice food lovely hotel
Disadvantages: none

...We have just returned from a week?s holiday in Dubai and I really feel I have to tell you about this hotel we stayed in. When we booked to go to Dubai I have to admit I was very apprehensive. I wasn?t really sure what to expect with everything as I am more used to Spanish holidays. Before booking we researched plenty of hotels in Dubai in the Jumeriah beach area which seems extremely popular. We picked Le Meridien Mina Seyahi hotel as it was one of the few hotels in Dubai which actually offers an All Inclusive option. Most only offer B&B with some others offering half board and occasionally full board. We liked the idea of All Inclusive because we had heard that Dubai was fairly expensive and with only booking twelve weeks before departure we didn?t have that much time to save up loads of money with some other things we had...

Fantastic Luxury Hotel in Dubai

Advantages: Everything - a real experience hotel
Disadvantages: Cost - A little too far from Town for easy shopping/eating out

...The Burj-Al-Arab (Arabian Tower) is Dubai and the UAE's answer to the landmark symbols of other countries, they compare it to the Eiffel tower (it's slightly taller by virtue of its mast) and other icons. The Burj is said to be the world's only 7 star hotel - this is something that has to be taken with a pinch of salt, hotel stars are usually awarded by national tourist authorities and in my opinion are rarely an indication of quality or value for money. I'm not sure who awarded the stars to this hotel but in this instance they are completely deserved and then more. From the moment we arrived at the airport we knew we were dealing with something special, the hotel's meet and assist "airport liaison" officer met us just before passport control - he took our hand luggage and walked us to the head of the queue, past the "priority...

Snow in Dubai...?

Advantages: first ski slopes in Dubai, one of a kind, lots to do, family fun
Disadvantages: a sore bum from falling down so much!

...The Ski Dubai attraction in Dubai is another one of the Sheikhs attempts to get Dubai on the map as being one of the top tourist areas in the world. This idea was really a case of turning the impossible into possible. As Dubai has all year round sun, beaches etc snow was to be out of the question, although I do remember a few years ago some snow flakes did fall in Dubai. A ski slope in Dubai is unbeleivable but yet a reality. It makes Dubai a place that has everything to offer. The dubai ski dome will also ultimately come in Dubais favour for when they will make a bid for the Olympics because no one can now object that due to dubais climate there is no snow there! LOCATION It opened in 2005 and is located on the most used and known road in Dubai, The Sheikh Zayed Road. The ski slope is in the Emirates Mall, another well known...

Shangri la ( Dubai) , EXQUISITE

Advantages: great location from which to explore Dubai. complimentary bus service.
Disadvantages: beach is a bus ride away.

...We stayed at this 5 star deluxe hotel for a week in October. We have stayed in a Shangri-La hotel before (in Penang, Malaysia) so knew beforehand it was going to be an excellent hotel. The hotel opened in July 2003 ? so everything inside was brand new. It is about 200 metres tall and has 43 storeys. we booked this hotel as part of a package. It cost £100 a night for a premier room. We dont normally spend so much, however it was our first year wedding anniversary . Sheikh Zayed Road is the business, commercial and financial area of Dubai. It is 15 minutes away from Dubai International Airport and five minutes from the World Trade Centre. Upon arrival we were shown to our room, which was on the 37th floor. We had a premier room ? the full selection is deluxe, executive, premier, one bedroom suite and presidential suite. The view...

My Dubai Trip ....

Advantages: Time Flies and one falls in love with the place
Disadvantages: Too Hot

...Dubai Experience I have been travelling on Emirates from 2001 and me and my wife had accumulated about 30,000 skyward points. Of this about 13,000 were to expire on End-Sept-2005 and I thought it may be a good idea to use them. There was a London to Dubai offer for 20,000 points to be used in October and I picked it up. We flew from London Heathrow by EK006 on 28-October-2005 and came back on 2-Nov-2005. The Investigation:- I used the internet to collect information about Dubai and found that there was not really too much information that was available on the net. Some of the sites that I could explore were (a) www.dubai.link.ru (one of the best sites available) (b) www.dubaicityguide.com (c) www.dubai.com There was on offer to join which.net free for 30 days on a trial basis which I joined and the information that I...

Living in Dubai

Advantages: Year round Sunshine
Disadvantages: Scarrrrrrrrrrry Drivers

...Sometimes I still can?t believe how lucky I am to be blessed with the opportunity of living in this beautiful city. I arrived here 7 years ago, my husband had been out here working for 18 months during which time I came out on extended holidays and looked forward to making it permanent. Dubai is a very cosmopolitan city with people from all over the world of different religions living together in peace. I know some might think ?but what about all the troubles in the Middle East?, but please take my word for it we have witnessed none of this in Dubai or surrounding areas and I can honestly say I have never felt safer. The city continues to grow daily with new buildings, roads and shopping malls shooting up everywhere. The differences we have witnessed in 7 years are phenomenal. It?s really hard to believe that 40 years ago they didn...
