Post Office Broadband, cheap but slightly shoddy

Advantages: Cheap, good customer service
Disadvantages: Unstable speeds (possible throttling), webspace doesn't work

...I have had the Post Office Broadband bundled with my home phone for about 6 months and while my experiences from a customer services aspect have been good and the bundled phone line and broadband offers a competetive price the product itself is unfortunately of unreliable quality. My conncetion regularly gets throttled down from my usual performance of about 5Mb/s to about 1-2Mb/s, a couple of times the speed has even gone down to about 500Kb/s. Of less concern, but still embarrasing, is the quality of the 50MB webspace provided, seems like any web element has only about a 50-70% chance of loading at any given time, so looking at a picture gallery page will have up to half the pictures missing with a different selection of pictures missing upon presssing refresh. A review/cautionary tale of Post Office Car Insurance!

Advantages: cheap car insurance, some polite and friendly staff
Disadvantages: stressful, costly, some lying staff, hassle, grief, don't touch with a barge pole

...My experience of Post Office Motor Insurance was sadly not a happy one. I took advantage of a cash back offer for taking out a comprehensive Motor Insurance policy, within a short time the documents arrived, but then I found a better offer. As I was still well within the 14 day okay-to-change-your-mind 'cooling-off' period, I cancelled the policy and took one out with the alternative provider. Somehow the Post Office, despite being very pleasant and understanding on the telephone, and having had the Certificate of Insurance documents returned to them as requested, somehow charged my debit card for the full amount anyway. I thought this must simply be an error, however I was concerned as my bank account was not exactly flush at the time, I had after all just paid the OTHER insurance provider for their policy, and lots of other bills...

Advantages: Straightforward to buy, some excellent "helpline" staff
Disadvantages: Failure to activate, absence of 24 hour qualified support, no back up

...This product, promoted as "the safe and easy way to carry cash abroad", appears perfect for young people embarking on foreign travel, and the claim is no doubt sometimes fair. The card is sold in Foreign Exchange branches of the Post Office and, after loading up initially with £250+ worth of currency (sterling, euros or US dollars) should be able to be used at Visa Electron outlets worldwide for cash, purchases and services. A further attraction is that it can, theoretically at least, be topped up with £50 at a time via the phone* or at a branch - potentially by family or friends if necessary. This was probably it's main recommendation from my point of view. ...The Office has to be one of the funniest sitcoms of recent times. Any one who has ever worked in an office environment can relate I think to the situations the actors find themselves in and probably have a similar story of their own as well. I think this is one of the reasons why it is so funny and became so successful. The Office I think was different because it approached the sitcom genre in an interesting way by having the format of a documentary. The office in question was that of Wernham Hogg Paper Company based in Slough, Berkshire. They had a camera crew in the office that basically filmed their every day lives in the office and all the drama and relationships that come with that. Broadband Sneaks

Advantages: No longer a reliable broadband service

...I've added an update to the end of this review. See below. It's been nearly a year now since I started my contract for Post Office Broadband. My package also includes Post Office Home Phone so the review also includes a few details about the phone line service. The monthly charge for my phone line and broadband is roughly £22 for the whole package. I now see that the same package is available for £19.95. They offer various packages that you can check on their website www.postoffice.co.uk. My package includes monthly phone line rental and the broadband service and is a twelve months contract. I knew there were slightly cheaper packages out there but I got tired of looking around and reading so many bad reviews. Advantages: IT'S COOL LOOKING
Disadvantages: YOU HAVE A DEADLINE TO MEET?.....DON'T USE!!

...a better result? gee!! not for me at least because, what i feel working with the product is CLUMSINESS, i practically have to look for almost every thing(buttons) to carry out some functions ( THANK GOD FOR SOME SHORT CUTS). One good thing that was done on it anyways, is the fact that you are presented with different "Save AS" options. But take my advice, if you have to work with MS office professional 2007, be sure you save your documents with the "97 - 2003" option because God help you if you are sending that finished document to someone like myself who has decided to stick with MS office 2003 ( atmost 2005) and believe it or not there are quite a number out there. My opinion - Microsoft Office Professional 2007 is cool, but i LOVE my reliable and dependable and easy to USE MS office professional 2003....
