Purrfect way to say pennies - Vitacat Pouches

Advantages: Cheaper option to whiskas

...Vitacat Pouches Since the credit crunch hit, we like most people have been trying to find ways to save here and there. Our first priority was the weekly shopping bill which , without going into too much detail was a considerable amount considering there is just the two of us plus the cat! Have you ever seen a cat get excited?

Advantages: Meal-sized servings, good for hiding tablets
Disadvantages: Expensive, smell can be off-putting for humans

...It's the fault of our late neighbour that our cats eat these - before she died, she made a friend of our younger cat, and took to buying Whiskas pouches for our cat as a treat. Consequently our cat was always next door and when the lady died, the cat had got so used to these "treats" that we started buying them as treats. Ten years on, a box of pouches is on our shopping list every week. The basic idea of these pouches is that they contain a single serving (approximately 100g, so about a quarter of the amount you'd get in a standard tin of cat food) of enough food to feed one meal to one cat, and are sealed in foil to keep them fresh - you can either rip the top edge of the foil off or cut across it with scissors. Mmmm....phone pouch

Advantages: Looks nice, and it does indeed provide a pouch for your mobile phone
Disadvantages: A wee bit pricey.

...Coming at you from those fine folk at phone pouch is this lovely mobile phone holder, especially handy with phones with flippy bits (e.g. the Trium Geo) or springy bits (Nokia 7110), whose leather cases are often either annoying or don't exist. The cover is made from what I can only describe as a nice stretchy fabric (not unlike Homer's trousers no doubt) so it fits most phones, and has a detachable, spring loaded belt clip. The case is a fetching light grey with dark grey trim and the velcro flap has a nice plastic oval type-thing with a full colour - that's full colour, mind - picture of the man himself saying "D'OH!" as ever. The whole thing is capped off with some fine stitching to prevent fall apart (PARAPHRASED SIMPSONS JOKE ALERT! - oops, too late!). 8 out of 10 cats prefer it - apparently.

...My current cat is called Guinness and he is a beast of a cat. Everyone who sees him comments on how big he is, but when you are with him everyday you just don't see it until he is sitting next to another cat outside. Anyway, when he was a kitten we always fed him tins of Whiskas and he was quite happy with this. One day I received a promotional pack of Whiskas Pouches through the post and gave it to Guinness that night. He absolutely loved it and from that day on he absolutely refused to eat anything else. Tins were out the window and the pouches had to come in or he would have starved to death. It was that obvious how much more he enjoyed the pouches to anything else. However it didn?t stop there and I soon found out he will not eat any other flavour than the meat pouches in gravy. He hates the fish ones and he hates the meat ones...

Oh So Fishy

Advantages: My cats love it
Disadvantages: It stinks!

...I have 3 cats - 1 is 14, 1 is 6, and 1 is just over a year old. All of them are fussy little things and I have to change their food on a regular basis to keep them happy because they quickly get bored of the same ones, and also the 14 year old has a tendancy to throw up with some brands of food but not others, so I have to be careful what I give him. The only food I've found so far that they all like all of the time is Whiskas Oh So Fishy pouches. They come in a pack of 12 85g pouches for around £4. Each pouch contains one meal for one cat, so I can't afford to give them these all the time, but I like to always have some in and give them as an occasional treat or when they decide they don't like their current food. This Fishy selection has 3 tuna, 3 sardine, 3 salmon and 3 cod flavour pouches. They are all made with whole pieces...

Form an orderly queue

Advantages: No preservatives, lots of real meat and fish

At the end of the day it is generally the feline customers who have the last purr on the matter so when I saw this on sale at one of the larger Tesco stores I was keen to get a pack to give it a try. Tesco were selling it t £4.39 for a box of twelve 100g pouches which isn't bad for a real meat product. I have also seen it at Pets at Home as well so if you are interested it shouldn't be too difficult to obtain.
