With the swivelling monitor, you can ?for example?.take a low level photo without having to get right down to it, by just lowering down the camera, and facing the monitor upwards, to view your shot. This saves you from having to struggle to get up from a low position.(and you know that can be a problem when you get older!!!!) Also, if you are taking a portrait of yourself, you can sit in front of the camera and see your self in the monitor. Advantages: autofocus, big screen, face detection, 14,7 megapixel, image processor, image stabilisation
Disadvantages: chunky, not very stylish, not as portable as other cameras

  Powershot S5 is - A lot of camera in a smallish package

Advantages: Good image quality at lower ISO, excellent specs, great for macro.
Disadvantages: High ISO noise, soft focus at maximum zoom.

...have either of these as they are expensive and of limited use so I cannot review these, however, my past experience with converter lenses has been that adding extra elements in the form of a converter lens lowers the quality of the image when used in conjunction with the main lens. The zoom range of this lens is 6?72mm (which is the 35mm equivalent of a 36-432mm lens), which means that you have a range from moderate wide-angle to quite a powerful telephoto, it has a maximum aperture of f/2.7-3.5, which is not bad for a lens of this type, it is wide enough to allow the use of a reasonably fast shutter speeds in normal daylight situations, zooming is done by a lever situated in front of the shutter release button. The quality of this lens is pretty good, with barrel and pincushion distortion being well controlled, sharpness is good...

Canon S5 IS Digital Camera Excellence

Advantages: Zoom, Image stabiliser, Picture quality, Hot shoe etc. etc

...I have been a pretty keen photographer for many years, the last digital camera I had was a Canon G3, it was only 4 megapixels, but the quality was outstanding, far superior to my mates 8mp Fuji. I went to Silverstone last year for the F1 practice, and got some great action shots of the cars, my only disappointment was the limited optical zoom (3x) on the G3. I decided there and then, that the time was right to upgrade, I had no hesitation in choosing Canon again, and went for the then newly released S5 IS. WOW, this camera is amazing, the zoom,12x optical & 4x digital, giving a total of 48x zoom is exactly what I needed, the optical zoom alone gives a 35mm SLR equivelant of 36-432 mm !!! You would imagine that with such a massive zoom, camera shake would be a problem, however due to the image stabiliser, it isn't, I have taken many...

...I recently recieved a Canon PowerShot SX10 for my birthday, i am very pleased with the quality of this camera. The pictures that it takes are of wonderful quality and you don't have to wait on the delay like alot of those cameras out there. Ever since i recieved the camera i have started selling my pictures, and have actually been making money for pictures that i take when i'm bored simply because the quality of the pictures are so good. This camera is very sleek and stylish and fits in your hands like a camera should. It is very comfortable to use and i is also very lightweight and portable making it easy to move around with and not get tired of holding in your hands. This camera is extremely worth the money and i would definately say that if you are in the market for a new camera then this is the one for you....

Obviously we were concerned only to purchase a small digital camera from being used to give my boys, so we should not purchase more than a specified amount and the car should not be complicated to use ... Upon arrival in ward specific we look around and the camera that had drawn our attention to the flyer there seemed little in its features and capabilities .... and in the end, even though we spent a little 'more than what we had established in departure, namely 159.00 euros, we chose the PowerShot A560 .... and even now I will tell you why! First impressions of the Sony H5 will impress on you the physical size of the machine compared to the small and light compacts you and I may have been used to. The wonderful 3" lcd screen dominates the back of the camera making framing and reviewing of shots a pleasure on the eyes, the image is super clear and accurate. It took me a while to suss out all the controls and settings as I'd been used to the Canon's control system but once mastered you'll find it quick and easy to capture the perfect shot. Advantages: Fast with a great night shot macro

...I had one of these power shot A95 lent to me a few weeks ago as we were going to a wedding, the first thing I did was think ok this won't give me a good shot (ok I was wrong), then I thought there were too many functions (actually I was wrong on that as well. The first thing you think about this camera is it's going to be a bit hard to use, it's not far from it click point and press 1/2 way in the auto focus kicks in press a bit more and the shots yours. I like the fast shot feature where you can take 5 to 6 shots at a time in succession and they all came out great. OK this isn't a professional camera but it takes shots as good as some cheap end SLR's. One of the features on the camera is the swivel LCD screen gone have the days where you scratch the screen and render the LCD dead. The night sky picture taking is perfect...
