Advantages: History, Architecture and Culture
Disadvantages: Lots of walking, steep hills and cobbled streets

...We were planning a weekend break away but the first problem was where. I wanted somewhere with historical interest. David had always been fascinated in the culture of Prague. And so, Prague it was. Knowing we only had limited time in the city, we wanted to ensure that we got as much as possible from the trip as we could. With this in mind, I set about researching the city and its points of interest using the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide to Prague and the many sites available on the Internet particularly (http://www.prague-tourist-information.com/). We booked the flight and holiday for the cost of 300 pounds each. We could have paid less but we had specific requirements in mind for the trip. Czech Airlines ran a direct flight from Manchester which gave an arrival time of 10.30 a.m. thereby giving us almost a full two and a half days...

Prague when it Sizzles

Advantages: Scenery, architecture, cheap, welcoming
Disadvantages: pollution, unfathomable language

...Prague, where mullets have never gone out of fashion, where every thing ends in a 'y', where even the dogs and cats smoke, and where, if you play your cards right, you can carve out a rather inexpensive and most rewarding holiday. You might have to work at it though. The capital of the Czech Republic, Prague is served by Ruzyne Airport into which fly all the usual assortment of bargain basement airlines and the more recognised carriers too. Despite arriving very early and very bleary eyed, the airport was very easy to navigate, and was compact, concise and really rather clean. Wandering Prague - first impressions

Advantages: Stunning architecture, drippping with history, very walkable
Disadvantages: Can be crowded

...Prague Can you do a capital city in a day? Of course you can’t. You can however get a feel for a place, enough of an insight to determine whether you want to come back. We were travelling to Czech on a walking trip (Check out Czech Trails) specifically to get beyond Prague, but as neither of us had seen the city, to fly in and head straight out again seemed a wasted opportunity so we managed to wangle an extra day’s freedom and booked ourselves a Sunday in the city. THE BASICS: We flew Stansted to Prague with Easyjet. Because we wanted to guarantee specific flight times we booked in advance and paid approx. £150. If you can be more flexible or late-book you can probably shave a half-to-two/thirds off that standard rate. Flights both ways were comfortable, and on time. No frills, but on this short a trip...

Beautiful Prague

Advantages: Beautiful baroque architecture,inexpensive,fine culture.
Disadvantages: presence of touts

...overlooking the river is the number one tourist attraction. It is very popular so it is best to get there early in the morning. The old town is very interesting.There you will find the town hall, a complex of buildings erected between the 14 th and 19 th centuries. A huge clock on an outside wall shows the 12 apostles,Jesus,a sleleton, and a cockerel when it strikes the hour. Also in the old town is the Baroque Clementinum. Once a Jesuit College,it now houses the state library of the Czech Republic. Prague is one of Europe's great cultural centres.Charles University dates back to the 14 th century and this lovely city has been home to the likes of Rilke,Kafka,Kundera and the playwright turned President Vaclav Havel. PERFECTLY PRAGUE

Advantages: Fantastic city, plenty to do and see, beer still relatively cheap
Disadvantages: City is loosing some of its authencity by becoming Westernised with the likes of McDonalds popping up

Lovely Prague

Advantages: Possible on a small budget, Fascinating, Beautiful
Disadvantages: Sometimes hard to get around

...the passers-by. At the far end of the bridge, one can get a lovely view of the river bank that encases the center of town. Once on that side of the river, its a short walk to the Palace grounds. This very large complex is where one will find Kafka's house as well as a church that is reminicent of the Notre Dame in Paris. If nothing else, when in Prague, try to see one of the Black light Theater shows. This uniquely Czech genre of theater is enjoyable to all tourists as the whole show is done in pantomime. We made an excellent choice and saw the performance at the Image Theater - probably the best and least commercial of all the companies around. For opera lovers, remember that Prague was the city where Mozart's opera Don Giovani was first performed. They are so proud of this fact that they have honoured this in many ways - restaurants...

The time to go to Prague

Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: Czech is an almost impossible language

...dance on the Charles bridge in the snow and moonlight once in their lives. Everyone should stand at the top of the hill in the old royal park and gaze over the city, with the fruit trees full of snow and the sun casting a pale, wintery glaze over the scene. Everyone should tuck themselves into a cozy corner in a Czech bar and spoil themselves with hearty portions of roast duck and red cabbage, washed down with plentiful quantities of good Czech beer. In daylight hours you can shop in quite expensive but very quaint street art markets, stand on the icy ground in Wenceslas square and pay your respects to the brave student who burned himself alive in protest at the Communist regime and sparked the Velvet revolution, admire the religious propaganda and the mechanical genuis of an earlier age in the form of the clock and statue of Jan Hus in...

Prague in 3 days flat

Advantages: Historic, beautiful, more for your money

Prague-tastic New Year!

Advantages: Beautiful, not too pricey, FUN!
Disadvantages: Pickpockets, difficult to get change from shops/stalls!

...I made my first visit to Prague for New Year 05 and all I can say is book up for NY2006 now! Myself and 4 friends all agreed it was the best New Year ever! We spent 4 days there from the 30th December until the 2nd of January - and we can't wait to go back. This review mainly concentrates on the winter attractions in Prague - obviosuly Prague in summer offers something a little different but I think there are plenty of reviews on here to tell both sides of the coin. I have tried to give a general overview of each thing and added a personal experience angle also, hope you enjoy: TRAVEL: We got a direct flight from Edinburgh to Ruzyne airport in Prague with Czech airlines. We felt the price was reasonable at just £150 each - the service onboard was very good and a direct flight is always a bonus. Our outbound flight was early morning...

Prague is such a picturesque city

Advantages: Cheap place to visit.Far nicer than expected
Disadvantages: Language not easy to understand or speak.But most speak english

...I visited Prague in March 2000 with my girlfriend.We arrived in Prague after a 3 hour flight from the UK via Amsterdam for £150 incl tax ex Newcastle.The journey time time to the city with a Limo whcih we booked with our hotel , took 30 minutes and cost only £12.00 plus TIP.I would recommend booking the limo service if possible, as taxis in Prague can be expensive as unscrupulous drivers can charge toursits what they feel like. Prague is a very compact city, and therefore I would not recommend hiring a car.Most of Prague is connected on a tram system which is beneficial way of traveling.You can buy a tree day ticket whcih is also valid on the bus and underground for only £3.00.You can also walk around Prague , but beware of the banks...they are steep than they look!!!!Or is it just we being unfit??The clime to the top is worth it as...
