Disadvantages: have to meet with CPO staff who will want to sell you timeshare

...I bought a timeshare here about 20 years ago with my husband and we have been going here on and off in that time with our growing family so we've seen some changes in that time - mostly good, I have to add. One of the most significant changes is the addition of properties to the complex giving flexible accommodation visitors. This means that depending on your profile you will either be allocated the beach front CPO apartments (families with children), Hotel Oura Praia which is a about 10 minutes' walk from the beach (couples) and the newly aquired Hotel Oura which is just a few minutes' walk from the beach and I undersdand is aimed more the young clubbers. Beach front perfection!

...After losing out on going to Tenerife (see my Thomsons review), we decided to go to Portugal. First choice was Lisbon. To get a hotel by the beach seemed very expensive so we looked a little further out and came to find Costa da Caparica. --Getting There-- If you are on a late flight into Lisbon i would say you would be best to catch a taxi to the hotel. This costs around ?40.00 which isnt too bad for a 25 minute jouney but i think some of the taxi drivers do try and pull the wool over your eyes especially if you are obviously a tourist. The taxis do charge an extra ?1.60 for luggage, not much i know but worth mentioning. If you are on a earlier flight or feel like being brave a cheaper way to get to the hotel is to get a taxi to Praca De Espanha (?7.00) and then catch the 153 bus (?2.50) to Costa Da Caparica. ...Having returned from a 2 week holiday to this apartment block, I felt I have to warn everyone to avoid it like the plague. This is the first package holiday we've been on since our Honeymoon 5 years ago, but having a 3 year old, we decided that we would give somewhere a try that had a kids club and plenty of things to keep her occupied. The apartments were in Praia Da Rocha, a very commercialised resort on the Algarve. In the brochure it stated there was a kids club, health club, sauna, jacuzzi and nightly entertainment amongst other things. Perfect Hotel

Advantages: Too many to list in this small space

...WOW!! In one word - Perfect. Fairly small hotel although it does not feel small and had plenty of facilities. Extremely clean and wonderful staff. Situated up hill - this is perhaps not ideal for those who would have problems getting uphill but thanks to the nice breeze that is always about in Luz it's not as bad as you may think. As all the hotel is in a curve shape all the rooms come with a pool view, so there will be no extra charges for this view. We were in a suite on the top floor and I would imaging from the floor below you would still be able to sit out on the large balconies an admire the pool and sea views. The suit had a double bedroom with a TV and also it's own air conditioning unit, a dressing table and 2 bedside cabinets.
