...Having returned from a 2 week holiday to this apartment block, I felt I have to warn everyone to avoid it like the plague. This is the first package holiday we've been on since our Honeymoon 5 years ago, but having a 3 year old, we decided that we would give somewhere a try that had a kids club and plenty of things to keep her occupied. The apartments were in Praia Da Rocha, a very commercialised resort on the Algarve. In the brochure it stated there was a kids club, health club, sauna, jacuzzi and nightly entertainment amongst other things. The apartments were spread over 6 blocks, which was a little off putting, but we decided to give it a go anyway. Bad mistake. Club Praia d'Oura

Advantages: kids,club, bar, beach, 2 pools, jacuzzis, entertainent, shops, self catering
Disadvantages: have to meet with CPO staff who will want to sell you timeshare

...I bought a timeshare here about 20 years ago with my husband and we have been going here on and off in that time with our growing family so we've seen some changes in that time - mostly good, I have to add. One of the most significant changes is the addition of properties to the complex giving flexible accommodation visitors. This means that depending on your profile you will either be allocated the beach front CPO apartments (families with children), Hotel Oura Praia which is a about 10 minutes' walk from the beach (couples) and the newly aquired Hotel Oura which is just a few minutes' walk from the beach and I undersdand is aimed more the young clubbers. ...After losing out on going to Tenerife (see my Thomsons review), we decided to go to Portugal. First choice was Lisbon. To get a hotel by the beach seemed very expensive so we looked a little further out and came to find Costa da Caparica. --Getting There-- If you are on a late flight into Lisbon i would say you would be best to catch a taxi to the hotel. This costs around ?40.00 which isnt too bad for a 25 minute jouney but i think some of the taxi drivers do try and pull the wool over your eyes especially if you are obviously a tourist. The taxis do charge an extra ?1.60 for luggage, not much i know but worth mentioning. If you are on a earlier flight or feel like being brave a cheaper way to get to the hotel is to get a taxi to Praca De Espanha (?7.00) and then catch the 153 bus (?2.50) to Costa Da Caparica. ...The Quinta Da Bellavista apartments are situated right in the middle of Albufeira, with a good 15 minutes walk to either the old town or The Strip, which is regarded as the new town and where all the night life and action is. The reception, pool area and bar are on the opposite side of the road from the apartments. We checked in (23rd June 08) and had to give a deposit of 50 euros this was to cover any damages and would be refunded at the end of the holiday. This deposit was not mentioned in the holiday brochure so beware of this when you go. The apartment was clean and tidy, with non of the signs of squashed mosquitoes on the walls. you find a bunk bed in the hall way right opposite the toilet, i'm not sure I would have wanted to sleep there.
