Also good for peepin' toms
Advantages: Lightweight, Good Image Quality, Compact, Cheap.
Disadvantages: The Case.
....
~ Zoom: without zoom.
~~~~ Conclusion ~~~~
In conclusion a great pair of binoculars, easy to use and durable enough to be chucked around a bit. The image quality is clear and accurate, the focusing range is impressive and more importantly the price isn?t too bad either!!
I would recommend the Praktica 10x25 WA to anyone who wants a pair of simple binoculars that are reasonably priced and is not fussed about a load of extra features.
As explained above the case is a little flimsy, and if you want to keep the binoculars in good nick I recommend you invest in a more heavyweight one....
A practical Praktica
Advantages: Very tough, very reliable, good quality (and cheap) lenses
Disadvantages: Fiddly rewind knob, heavy
...(Temporary intro part 2: thank you, Ciao! This op is now in the right place, so I'll remove this intro completely in a day or two.)
Now this really is a blast from the past. One of the last true Eastern Bloc cameras (with the exception of the cheap-and-nasty Zeniths), the Praktica MTL-50 (which can be found fairly easily in second-hand shops) is a dinosaur by modern SLR standards - it's heavy, it's clunky, and almost everything is mechanical. Which is why I like it so much. I've had mine since 1989, and it's still in perfect working order, mainly because there isn't a great deal to go wrong.
The main thing you'll notice when picking up an MTL-50 is the weight - it is far heavier than almost any modern camera on the market today. For some that might be a drawback, but for me it's a bonus, because that weight is a sign...
Great binoculars, great price
Advantages: Price, good low light performance
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...I've had these binoculars for 2 years now, and they've been extremely useful. They were bought for me as a Christmas present, so I don't know exactly how much was paid for them, although a quick browse on the web shows a price around £40. At this price, I reckon these are an absolute steal.
By coincidence, at the same time as I was receiving these, I was giving the same person a pair of binoculars in return, the only difference being that they were getting a pair of Leica Trinovid 10X25, which cost over 5 times as much (USD$384 to be precise).
I've therefore had a good opportunity to compare the 2, and I think I wasted my money. There's no doubt that the optical quality of the Leica binoculars is slightly better, especially in very poor light, but if you just want a really good product for birdwatching, sports spectating, general...
PRAKTICA perfect in everyway
Advantages: Reasonably light, Full of functions and Easy to use. Great camera
Disadvantages: Gobbles up batteries. Poor video compression
...The DCZ 5.5 digital camera from Praktica is without a doubt a great little snapper and at a price easy on the wallet too.
A number of months ago, I decided it was time to invest in a camera, mostly for myself, but also to enhance my listings on eBay. After some research I quickly ruled out the latest Canon and Sony efforts due to the cost associated with the brand names. Although this unit is somewhat cheaper than its popular counterparts it is still a worthy adversary despite its £70 price band.
My only criticisms' against this bundle of joy is the pitiful video recording feature. You'll need a vast memory card in order to record a half hour of holiday happiness, where a 10 second clip swallows up 4.4 MB of space. If you're like me and don't want to record video, or have a great camera phone then this wont affect you too much. In...
My Praktica DC42 :-)
Advantages: Pretty Cheap Camera, Reliable, Great Pictures
Disadvantages: Not the best instruction book in the world!
...I have had the DC42 for two months now.
I chose this camera because it was within my budget and cost only £109.99 (although it is on sale at £99.99 now grr lol) from a major high-street catalogue store.
For the price it is excellent. It is 4.2 megapixel, interpolates up to 6m, therefore producing some very clear pictures.
Power wise, it takes 2 x AA batteries, and unlike some cameras, it does not appear to use them up too quickly, especially when having the preview screen on the reverse (1.6 ins tft) turned on.
Features also include Power Save, date function on or off on pictures, thumbnail view on pictures taken, slideshow, etc.
This camera is also capable of movie and sound capture, which is also good quality.
When previewing pictures you can zoom in/out then also move the picture around on the screen whilst zoomed...
Praktica DCZ 4.4 Digital Camera
Advantages: Easy to use, great for first-timers, bonus games, easily maintainable, predominantly self-explanatory
Disadvantages: Batts can drain quickly whilst uploading pics, main menu can be confusing
...I bought this camera as my first digital camera and I have to say it's still going strong. The design of the camera is very simple and the buttons are pretty self explanatory, although the memory can sometimes be a bit confusing to operate.
The zoom and cropping feature is very easy to use and the quality of picture is fantastic, especially for printing. The switch between camera, video and play is located on the top of the camera and is again very self explanatory and easy to use.
The camera uses an SD memory card and 2 x normal AA batteries, although be wary of using the batteries as a source of power for uploading your pics to the computer etc via USB as this drains them very quickly. However, uploading aside, the battery life is very good on this camera, and it is easy to scroll through the thumbnail pics of your photos so you...
