Soul Diva Sings Jazz & Blues
Advantages: The wonderful tracks My Man, Don't Explain etc
Disadvantages: The dialogue interupts musical flow
...Lady Sings The Blues premiered to an eager, anticipating audience in October 1972. The public flocked in droves to the cinemas to see this much-hyped film, whilst critics watched intensley and eagerly sharpened their pencils.
Soul singer and Motown legend, Diana Ross controversially took the role of the tortured Jazz legend, Billie Holiday and deservedly won wide critical acclaim for her harrowing and riviting performance in the film which subsequently gained her an oscar nomination (though Diana sadly lost out to Liza Minnelli for Cabaret - people claimed this was down to Berry Gordy's over-kill campaign to get her to win where Berry sent various extravagent gifts to members of the comittee which was merely perceived as a ploy to get her to win).
Critics were instantly silenced on hearing the movies quintessential and divine...

Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow
Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none
...I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend.
The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home.
The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep.
We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice.
Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from...

HONDA JAZZ 1.4 SE CVT-7. AUTOMATICALLY BETTER?
Advantages: Great Transmission. Smooth Engine. Low Running Costs. Hugely Spacious Interior. Build Quality.
Disadvantages: Messy Dashboard Styling. Uninspiring Exterior Styling.
..."mini-limo" in the shape of a Honda Jazz.
The Honda Chiswick loan car was finished in deep metallic blue paint and therefore would have hit the road at just the wrong side of £12,000.
DEPRECIATION 8 / 10 - Always the biggest running cost.
8 / 10 is a brilliant score in this category. Had this been a basic, or mid range Jazz, that score would have been even higher. Top of the range models will always take a larger hit on depreciation, although small automatics, especially good ones, tend to hold their value very well as they are extremely rare on the second hand market.
As a range the Jazz is known to be one of the least steeply depreciating cars on the road. If you are looking for a cheap second hand one, you will need to spend a lot of time seeking out an abnormally high mileage car. Generally the Jazz tends to spend its life in...

Jazz up your motoring
Advantages: space, comfort, flexibility, fuel economy
Disadvantages: absolutely none for me
...tank sits underneath them) and it has a gorgeous snub nose.
It comes in a variety of colours, mostly metallic. Mine is 'clover green', a very dark metallic green. It's not the colour I would have chosen (more on this later) as I think it looks wonderful in bright red, pearlised white and a gorgeous metallic ice blue.
It ain't sporty looking, but neither does it look cheap, tatty or estate/saloon type boring.
9/10
Criteria 9: Flexibility
Here is where the Jazz is absolutely unbeatable. It is remarkably roomy inside and incredibly interchangeable. The back seats fold down completely flat for that flat-pack furniture, or the seat part of them folds up flat, giving you a lovely tall space for plants etc. Also, the front seats recline to prone position if you want a kip. Add to this the fact that the boot is a good size...

The Blue Mountains
Advantages: everything
Disadvantages: nothing
...This next review is on my time on The Blue Mountains National Park, located in Sydney Australia. A few friends and I had decided to hire a van and take a tour of the national park, as we had been recommended it by several people we had met along the way. I am usually a fan of national parks; it gives you a chance to take in the scenic view, it gives you a chance to relax and unwind if you have had a busy week, and you even get to see some wildlife. It?s a great experience, which allows you to camp overnight, whilst also have a magnificent driving experience.
History & Park Info:
The park covers 267,954 hectares, which included several mountains and rivers along the trek. The highest point of the park is Mount Werong (1,215 m), and there are some breathtaking views from the top. The area became a national park in 1932, and ever since...

Jazz Cafe - Charming, Unpretentious and Worth a Visit!
Advantages: Good Food, Nice Atmosphere and Lively
Disadvantages: Can be a little pricey...
.... Everything that I've had tastes nice and fresh and has good quality ingredients.
There are also desserts, juices, tea, hot chocolate and coffee drinks. You can also buy wine (by the glass) and beer (by the bottle). The hot drinks are a good standard and the coffee is nice - which is certainly not always the case everywhere in Bath.
The Atmosphere
The Jazz Cafe is a relatively small venue, which thanks to close seating can fit in more diners than you'd expect. You'll be seated on sturdy wooden furniture, which adds a nice quirkiness to the place as it doesn't all match. The room is decorated blue and off white, and there are lots of posters of various jazz performers and musical instruments. Personally I like the large picture of Django Reinhardt.
You can sit outside on the edge of the square, if you prefer. If the weather is good it...

All that Jazz
Advantages: Very very clever package
Disadvantages: almost none
...”.
Cute? What the bloody hell does that mean? I’ll tell you what it means. It means I can’t bloody win, that’s what “Cute” means. Even if I get everything else perfect, she can always get me by quoting the “Cute” amendment. “Yes dear, it may be all those things and it may be quicker than a very quick thing but it just isn’t cute”.
Bugger.
So, I looked at the little Polo Diesel and the Mini One. The only other car that caught my eye was, the Honda Jazz. The Polo does it on economy and build quality, the Mini One on “cute” and the Honda ‘cos I think it’s dead clever.
Anyway I took my lovely lady to view all three one Sunday afternoon in May. The Polo didn’t even get a test drive. She sat in it and immediately pronounced it “...

Premier DS-5080
Advantages: Cost-effective, lightweight, excellent photo quality
Disadvantages: Disadvantages!?!
...Back in March, I was in need of a digital camera, but was looking for one that wouldn't break the bank...Ideally, the Premier DS-5080 5 Mega Pixel camera is on the market then! For a camera of such image quality, I was somewhat taken aback that the retail price was just shy of the £100 mark. Excellent!
The first thing that instantly struck me was the weight of it. Lightweight, if possible to say so, is an understatement! Its thin silver body with sliding lens cover and flat LCD monitor ensure that there is little "excess" materials used in the making of it. As the image of the product shows, it's streamline look is very attractive and pleasing to look at and use.
Sliding the lens cover will switch it on and then you have the fun of the very straight-forward menu, that I must confess, I was able to use and navigate around...

Time to jazz things up a little
Advantages: loads of fun
Disadvantages: expensive for a small car
...Having been a Big Car driver for many years, I decided a year ago this week to become more environmentally friendly.
Looking for something a little less staid than the Saab, Merc and Rover 75 that had been my previous three cars, the five door Honda Jazz caught my attention by jumping up and down excitedly on the forecourt whenever I drove by. I had to have it because it made me feel so happy. I even like the brand name. It's high safety spec, (special mention given to Honda's award for pedestrian safety) and solid security features galvanised me into the decision.
This is a little car, tiny in fact, on the outside. I'm almost five feet tall and I can reach across the roof to wash it! It has curved lines with a little snub nose and the girls and I think that from the front it looks like a little cat.
Get inside though...

Premier, not perfect
Advantages: Location, customer service
Disadvantages: Electrical faults, noise
...Like a lot of people I travel regularly for work. Unlike most of them, I also work in the quasi-public-sector and feel obliged therefore to restrict the expense claims to reasonable limits. I have actually been known to stay in a Youth Hostel on a business trip - but generally I opt for what have become known as 'budget hotels' - you know the ones: Premier Inn (a.k.a. Travelinn as was), Travelodge, Innkeeper's Lodge.
These are the earthbound equivalents of budget airlines. No frills. But you do expect them to deliver on the basics.
Premier is probably my favourite of the three. Maybe that's because they've followed up their rebranding with a full-scale refurb of all their hotels. (Maybe it's because my most usual branch of the competition has particular limitations.)
The point of this long lead in is to establish that I...
