Good Hotel for exploring Bristol

Advantages: Clean, comfy, modern
Disadvantages: Very expensive restarant and bar, rather sad swimming pool and gym

...This hotel in in the centre of Bristol within waling distance of Temple Meads Station. If you know Bristol then you will know that this location then might mean convenience but it's not gorgeous - a lot of Bristol was bombed in the war and rebuilt in the 50s and 60s and it shows! The hotel itself is newer than that though, but when you arrive it does look a bit tired and in need of a facelift. Parking is available and not difficult, though like most city centre budget hotels you have to pay extra for it, but I thought the £3.50 a night quite a good rate. It seemed a secure car park. . I checked in swiftly and the receptionist was helpful and friendly. ...The Jarvis Hotel is a couple of miles north of Bristol in an area called Winterbourne. As a former country house built in the mid 19th century and with extensive grounds it has every going for it as a hotel. The Jarvis group have spent a lot of money refurbishing the place including an excellent Poolside leisure Club with swimming pool, spa, solarium and under-utilised exercise equipment. As is often the case the pool is a little small and you soon learn how a goldfish must feel swimming around the same extent of water only about 6 times your body length. The rooms in the old part of the hotel are quite spacious but you may find those in the newer part little better than a motorway lodge for size. ...I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend. The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home. The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep. .... It was first time ever, me and my girlfriend decided to spend a weekend in Premier Inn Caerphilly. We spent there a bank holiday weekend in August. Wanted to book hotel in Cardiff but unfortunately everything was fully booked because of Madonna's concert. Were not really happy because of that but decided to reserve room. Hotel Hotel is placed 7 and half miles away from Cardiff, which is not far. If you have car you can park it for free in hotels parking. If not - there is number 26 bus route every two hours going to Cardiff. The nearest bus stop is only 5 minutes walk from hotel. Breakfast is not included in price of this hotel but you can order it when booking or on site. If you want to treat yourself with full breakfast it will cost you £7.50. You can have as much as you like. They offer some premium pork sausages...

Premier Inn Caerphilly - Ideal Hotel if on a budget

Advantages: Nice cheap hotel, very clean & comfortable

...I first stayed in this hotel a few years ago because it was the only hotel I could get into for the WRC, we stayed there for a weekend. We had never stayed at a Premier Inn before & we were very pleasantly surprised - the hotel is situated just off a large roundabout, (it is very easy to get to) & we found it very peaceful with no traffic noise what so ever. The hotel is not very far from Cardiff so you can either drive in or the hotel has a bus stop close by and Caerphilly has a train station with a train running to cardiff at regular intervals, due to the horrible one way system in Cardiff we chose to catch the train in, it was only £4ish return & you get off right outside the Millenium Stadium. From the outside the Hotel looked in very good condition & the inside was in just as nice condition, the reception was excellent - friendly...
