Great Renaissance Hotel in Brussels

Advantages: Beautiful hotel and great value
Disadvantages: Not too near the city centre

...The Renaissance Hotel in Brussels forms part of the Renaissance chain of Hotels which in turn is owned by Marriott. I stayed at this hotel whilst on holiday in Brussels in August 2003 and found the hotel to be really good value in Summer (as all the business people are on holidays so the best time and cheapest time to visit Brussels is this time of year!) The room: The hotel bedroom that we had was well furnished and came with two Queen size beds, although room are available with one larger King Size bed. The room had a TV with satellite TV and a few okay English channels including BBC World. It also came with the usual trapping such as hairdryer, in room safe (very useful for passports and money!) as well as an iron and ironing board and trouser press. The Hotel Vendome in Brussels: an OK hotel

Advantages: Convenient location near the city centre, very good breakfast
Disadvantages: Not very nice rooms with no view, the bathrooms are not very nice

...Well I don't know whether I should recommend this hotel or not.... Basically, if like us, you are given the option of staying in this hotel as part of a special deal, then go for it; but if you have to pay full price for the room, then just stay away from it! We ended up in this hotel as part of a wonderful 2 for 1 package in February which included eurostar travel from London to Brussels and one night at the hotel - all for just 120 pounds for the two of us!! So having paid that little, I find this hotel exceeded my expectations. The hotel receptionist was ok but not incredibly friendly and did not smile very much. The staff in general were helpful but not overly friendly. To get to our room in the top floor, we had to use a lift that was not very nice, actually it reminded me of hospital lifts and then...

...INTRODUCTION Brussels is a handy place to meet if you're in the South Netherlands and your girlfriend is in London. Thanks to Eurostar and Dutch rails, we can both make it there in a couple of hours. My girlfriend managed to get a great deal on a hotel thanks to Expedia, and so here is a review of that hotel, which in my opinion is well worthy of consideration. Seems like the name has slighly changed since this was added to Ciao in 2006, to Eurostars Sablon. I checked the address and I've got the right place! THE LOCATION Hotel Eurostars Sablon is located opposite the Museum of Ancient and Modern Art in the city centre, 500 metres from the Royal Palace. ...I have stayed it the Welcome many times in the past 18 months when in Brussels on business. It is located in the St Catherine district close to the metro and also to many good seafood restaurants. Other good eating places are to be found within 5 minutes walk including Thai and Vietnamese restaurants that line one particular street. The Grande Place is itself within 10 minutes walk. The hotel is a cosy and friendly place where the 15 rooms are named not in a numerical fashion but after different countries or geographical regions (or in the case of the Silk Road journeys). A Classic Case of Trying TOO Hard

It should have been 'all white on the night' but it wasn't In October this year I had the opportunity to stay in Brussels and my colleague suggested The White Hotel on Avenue Louise so I booked a room. We went out for dinner after our work was done for the day and then he took me to the hotel to drop me off. Luckily for me, he decided to stick around and check that everything was OK rather than just drop me and run. The receptionist was in a bad way and explained that she was "really really really sorry" but the torrential rains of that evening had caused leaks in part of the hotel and my room wasn't available because there was water coming through the ceiling. Premier Inn Caerphilly - Great Hotel

Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Could be a little bit closer to city centre

.... It was first time ever, me and my girlfriend decided to spend a weekend in Premier Inn Caerphilly. We spent there a bank holiday weekend in August. Wanted to book hotel in Cardiff but unfortunately everything was fully booked because of Madonna's concert. Were not really happy because of that but decided to reserve room. Hotel Hotel is placed 7 and half miles away from Cardiff, which is not far. If you have car you can park it for free in hotels parking. If not - there is number 26 bus route every two hours going to Cardiff. The nearest bus stop is only 5 minutes walk from hotel. Breakfast is not included in price of this hotel but you can order it when booking or on site. If you want to treat yourself with full breakfast it will cost you £7.50. You can have as much as you like. They offer some premium pork sausages...

...Arriving in Brussels for the second of my European trips, my wife and I headed to Hotel Vendome for what appeared on Expedia as a well kept and reasonable hotel. It took us about 8 minutes walk from the main train station to get to Vendome, and we were greeted by two abrupt and unfriendly staff at the counter. They had to check three times only to realise we had a reservation, then gave us our keys. We asked for a map of the surrounding area and got one as small as a tubemap which did not help us whatsoever. The lobby was small, and fortunately the lifts were in good working condition. When we got to the room, it was not very tidy and the towels seemed dirty so we asked for them to be changed, which got us some dirty looks. Premier Inn Caerphilly - Ideal Hotel if on a budget

...I first stayed in this hotel a few years ago because it was the only hotel I could get into for the WRC, we stayed there for a weekend. We had never stayed at a Premier Inn before & we were very pleasantly surprised - the hotel is situated just off a large roundabout, (it is very easy to get to) & we found it very peaceful with no traffic noise what so ever. The hotel is not very far from Cardiff so you can either drive in or the hotel has a bus stop close by and Caerphilly has a train station with a train running to cardiff at regular intervals, due to the horrible one way system in Cardiff we chose to catch the train in, it was only £4ish return & you get off right outside the Millenium Stadium. From the outside the Hotel looked in very good condition & the inside was in just as nice condition, the reception was excellent - friendly...
