Value prescription glasses
Advantages: price, quality, ease of buying
Disadvantages: wait for delivery, could be damaged in post, have to get a prescription
...Site for eyes is a great website where you can buy extremely cheap prescription glasses.
Mens and woman’s rimless etc in many styles from oval to thick rimmed to rimless, I opted for the Site4eyes Mid Size Glasses, as I don’t need glasses all the time I opted for these for price more then anything.
The glasses are robust with mid size frames in bronze, the Large lenses give a bigger viewing area the glasses have flexible hinges that give extra durability and added comfort, with a fairly large nose bridge width.
The glasses I purchased have the dimensions: -
Lens Diameter 50mm
Nose Bridge 20mm
Arm Length 140mm
Frame Width 135mm
That is about as much detail as I can give on the glasses I purchased but I can honestly say there is a great variety of glasses to choose from.
The quality is excellent and being...

SPECtacular (sorry!)
Advantages: Fast efficient service, cheap, great customer service, good looking frames
Disadvantages: Can't get glasses on the same day as with some high street stores
...I am currently embarking on a program of natural vision improvement (search on the internet for The Bates Method / Vision Therapy if you're interested). I've bought myself a few books and read lots of websites which suggested going without glasses. The prescription I began with was for -5.00D of myopia (short sight) and therefore wasn't too happy about this suggestion as I wouldn't be legal to drive etc. Other people suggested wearing undercorrected glasses, which I have learnt to cope with, so I needed to find a place to buy cheap glasses as I will need several pairs as my vision improves.
SelectSpecs.com
I found this place advertised as selling cheap prescription glasses so I thought it'd be worth a look. The website is not especially snazzy or eye catching (pardon the pun) but it's pleasant to look at, smart, and most...

Breaking Glass, the sound of a shattered career
Advantages: Good music and insight into Britain in the early 80's
Disadvantages: Certain scenes are very difficult to watch now
...1980, Punk was dying and 2 Tone was only just getting established in the Midlands. Music was either the New Wave alternative, Glam Rock , Prog Rock or Disco. And what was Coventry songstress Hazel O'Connor doing with herself. Making this movie, Breaking Glass. It's about a young woman called Kate (apparently named after Kate Bush) trying to break into music from the bottom in the London music scene.
Along with a fairly young Phil Daniels fresh from Quadrophenia who plays her manager Danny are Jonathan Pryce playing their deaf saxaphone player Ken, Ken Campbell playing the pub landlord who hosts the bands early gigs (and consistantly refuses to pay them for any), Mark Wing Davey (better known as Zaphod Beeblebrox) playing the record exec that Phil is helping to artifically create sales for. As far as other musical talent there is...

Heart of Glass
Advantages: A superb story
Disadvantages: No real dislikes for me
...NOTE: There are some spoilers here due to the nature of the film.
Shattered Glass won some pretty good reviews from the critics as did Hayden Christensen for his portrayal of Stephen Glass the man who inspired this movie. This was my first opportunity to see the man who would be Vader since Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, so how was it?
=
What's it all about?
=
Those fearful words raise their head again “based on a true story”, Shattered Glass is based on a journalistic scandal involving reporter turned novelist Stephen Glass. It is a tale of truths and lies, Stephen Glass is a reporter for The New Republic magazine, big deal? Well it also happens to be the magazine of choice...

The Beauty of Glass
Advantages: Simply beautifully moving
Disadvantages: None whatsoever
...I find it very difficult to begin to try and explain Philip Glass? Solo Piano because despite my preponderance of music ops I have absolutely no understanding of the theory behind music; terminology and technique means nothing to me: this is not a virtue and especially in attempting to explain the subtle delight in Glass? music I find myself flummoxed, but I shall try nevertheless, if only because no one else has and it is music that I love.
I am very much a new convert to Glass? music and am now firmly entrenched in the belief that his work is magnificence of the highest order. From my little knowledge of outward cultural reaction to Glass it always appears to me that he has a following of near cult status, unusually successful and yet somehow shunned by critics and the establishment in favour of other composers. I am perhaps wrong...

Through a glass darkly
Advantages: Good Conclusion
Disadvantages: Slow pace
...discover all the charges against Marco have been dropped.
Upon his release the three men bump into Marco's father in law De Cal, an owner of the local glass making plant. He is furious with Marco and threatens to hurt him. After some informal enquiries Brunetti is satisfied that 'the old man' is just shouting his mouth off and means him no actual harm.
Then Giorgio Tassini, the Night Watchman at the Glass Plant is found dead. Upon investigation he has also been talking bitterly about the Plant to everyone. Brunetti discovers he has a dossier about the Plant, claiming the owner to be responsible for his two year old daughter's bad health.
The Commissario must find out if it is Tassini's own guilt that makes him believe this or if there really is a case to answer by De Cal and the other next door plant owner Fasano.
My thoughts...

Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Concealer my review
Advantages: Long wearing, protective, moisturising, silky blendable
Disadvantages: Make sure you really take your time to find the perfect shade
...I decided to pick this up while browsing the Prescriptives counter after being attracted by the wide range of shades this concealer was available in, i thought itd make a nice supplement to my foundation and when i tried a little bit on there and then i loved how the silky soft cream really disappeared into my skin, perfecting it, i was sold. When i got the little silver box home i was pleased to read the leaflet and find out how impressive this product really is, with UVA/UVB SPF 25, non-acnegenic, Opthalmologist/Dermatologist tested, waterproof, fragrance free and containing moisturisers and vitamins, the little clip lid pot is very slim, sleek, shining silver and contains a lot of product. I am prone to the odd little blotchy red patch and spot and this completely but discretely covers everything every time! Its suitable for use...

Buying from Selectspecs is the best decision I ever made!
Advantages: Good selection of frames, great price saving, good quality.
Disadvantages: Have to do any final fitting adjustments yourself; possible slightly longer wait.
...I ordered rear surface varifocals a few weeks ago from this site. I have to admit being nervous about it, but it was the only way I was going to get new prescription glasses at a price I could afford, so decided to give them a try. Am I glad I did! They took a little longer than usual (about 3 weeks) to make my glasses as they had had a higher than usual number of orders due to some special deals they were offering. I received an email on Friday 18/6 to say they had been shipped from Hong Kong, and received them on, Monday 22/6! Incredibly fast shipping! The frames are great and the lenses- I have a slightly more complicated than normal prescription, including astigmatism - are perfect! I haver saved well over £200 when compared to my usual optician! My last glasses cost me £230 just to reglaze my old frames a year ago; the lenses were...

Can you see what I see?
Advantages: Glass options at reasonable prices
Disadvantages: Can be difficult to figure out if something will suit you.
...I went and had my eyes tested recently and afterwards went through the usual attempt to find some glasses that were nice, but didn't blow my finances. I was being recommended thin len's for my prescription type (short sighted, -325/-275) and the cost of these before I even had a chance to choose the frame meant I'd be spending in the mid £100's. Looking at frames, I was adding anything from £70-£160 more for the one's I liked.
I left the optician with the prescription and an idea that I'd come back after payday and try looking again. I mentioned it to my sister, and she recommended Selectspecs.co.uk.
Visiting their site they breakdown glasses on offer by various categories. If you know your "designer" go straight there. If you want to see price ranges, pick that option. If you want to see male/femail/unisex, fine...

Drinking glasses....not to be confused with beer goggles!
Advantages: A novelty item, ideal to entertain my son, and any other male in the house!
Disadvantages: Only a cheap and cheerful item, not really made to last.
...My sisters boyfriend decided this christmas to buy the entire of my family a gift each, this being due to the fact he has reached and surpassed the two year mark of "courting" my younger sister, this in my families book makes him officilaly part of the family!
Now with the older generation, (myself included), we are reasonably easy to buy for, chocolate and booze being at the top of our wish lists. There are two certain people who are not so easy to buy for, not that they have discernable tastes, but more the fact they receive so much stuff on Christmas morning that getting a present that hasn?t already been bagged by another relation is very bloody difficult. Of whom do I speak?. Well my two children of course!
The gift that he finally decided on for my son is - ?Drinking glasses, by Tobar?
These in themselves are pretty...
