...the distinct impression this was normal practice for them. We met another 8 people the next day who had had exactly the same experience of being booted out of the President. The Hotel President's behaviour towards us was totally unacceptable. They took our money and did not deliver the goods. If you do choose to book here, please beware that their confirmation letters may turn out to be worthless....

President Russell Square - oficially the worst I've ever had

Advantages: Location - but I'd rather be in a better hotel further out
Disadvantages: Pretty much everything else!

...This hotel is way below the standard of any I have ever stayed in. Having arrived in Russell Square by tube we found the hotel without too many problems, although it feels a little as though it is up a back street. First impressions were not good - the whole place looked as though it were in a time warp. We went to reception to check in and were given a room key and sent up to the room, only to get there and find it was still being prepared then rudely told to go back downstairs. The lifts have carpet on the walls - inexplicable! We went to sit in the reception area where our impression of the hotel only got worse. The reception staff were Ok, nice but seemingly clueless in allocating rooms which are not ready. The common areas were awful, very tatty with dirty sofas which may have been new once in the 1960s. Would the President stay here?

Advantages: central location, jacuzzi baths, helpful staff
Disadvantages: not consistent in its standards

...At the end of a week long boating holiday in cramped conditions, we treated ourselves to a night of comfort in a four star hotel in Split. We wanted somewhere comfortable and central, so after studying the web, we selected the Hotel President. Location We chose the hotel mainly because of its location, as we were only there for a short time and we wanted to be able to get around quickly on foot. The Hotel President is a 5 minute walk from the old town and Diocletian's Palace. The hotel folder in the room says it is 5 minutes walk to the business area and 10 minutes walk to the railway, bus station and harbour. I think these are slight underestimates based on our walk around town, especially as it is quite busy down by the harbour (and we were just at the beginning of the season). It's not the nicest area to walk through...

Fab priced hotel in the thick of New York City!

Advantages: Cheap, right by Times Square, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Rooms may be too small for some fussy travellers!

...great exercise lol, but a nightmare for someone who was 6 months pregnant and needed the loo every 5 minutes (to my partners annoyance!). On our first night, we wanted to explore so we got a map from the hotel and headed off to the Rockefeller Centre to see the world famous Christmas tree. It only took us about 15 mins to walk there, and it was so easy to find! The hotel couldn't be in a better location, and best of all, if you forget the hotels address when you get in a taxi, just asked to be dropped off in Times Square, and you are all but there! ...Dead Presidents is a 1995 film, written and directed by (Allen and Albert,) The Hughes Brothers, known for directing 'Menace II Society' and 'From Hell.' It stars Larenz Tate (Menace II Society), Chris Tucker (Rush Hour) and Freddy Rodriguez (Planet Terror/Six Feet Under.) The documents a four year period between 1969 and 1973 in The New York Bronx district during the vietnam war and follows the fortunes of three schoolfriends and the other surrounding inhabitants of their neighbourhood. The film is a graphic look at the events of the time, especially seeing as there is a good thirty/forty minute chunk in the middle set in Vietnam. However, the film is primarily set in New York. ...ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN is a film version of the non-fiction account of journalists Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward's investigation into the Watergate scandal, which ultimately ended up with the resignation of President Richard Nixon. This is one of the most exciting stories in American political history and the film was released in 1976 with a great deal of praise and lots of receipts at the box office. The film stars Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as Woodward and Bernstein respectively, give masterful performances and it is a shame that these two were not seen on screen together more often. The Strand Palace Hotel

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...
