Prima -One of the Best!

Advantages: Covers many topics with affordable ideas
Disadvantages: You don't want to throw them out!

...Prima ? a magazine name known to many, and quite rightly so because Prima means first or leading and I feel it is a leading magazine in the area it covers and it certainly covers lots of areas. It started back in October 1986, and although at that time I thought it was expensive I did buy it as there was always a free pattern and I made a lot of my clothes in those days, so it was a bargain. This magazine has moved with the times and is bang right up to date now and is one of the popular magazines sold at most newsagents, although many people have it delivered as this is a perfect start to your day ? or used to be when post came in a morning! Prima - just for old ladies?

Advantages: Loads of ideas for your home, lots of beauty advice
Disadvantages: Some of it aimed at an older audience

...I was given a 12 month subscription to this magazine as a christmas present from my husband. I must admit when I saw the subscription was for Prima I was a little disappointed as my general opinion of this magazine without ever really reading one before was that this was meant for older ladies,not a 25 year old! However, my husband had also got me a subscription to Company, which is one of my favourites magazines so I thought,I'll read the first issue and if it's no good I will pass them on to my mum, it should be just up her street! Advantages: Great and interesting magazine
Disadvantages: Lots of adverts

...Finding out that I was expecting again was a big shock for me. I am already the mother to 3 girls and in a few weeks I will be the 40. Anyone would think that I would know exactly what to do and how to do it but I don't think you ever get used to it and every pregnancy is different. ...When my daughter started sitting unaided, I decided to buy a highchair and as my house is not very big, I decided that a folding highchair would be my best option, and also the tidiest option as it could be easily stored when not being used. After looking at a selection in my local Mothercare, I paid £104 for the Prima Pappa, although I saw it a few weeks later reduced to £88, which upset me a bit. Disadvantages: i spend too much time surfing on the site :)

Since I joined Babyexpert there has only been one incident of a "troll" entering the forums and it was reported and dealt with rather quickly. Quite amazing how useful one little site can be really. The site is hosted by Prima Baby & Pregnancy magazine. I got lots of information regarding pregnancy, birth and how to best involve to older child. There are a number of web chats held by the site the last of which covering how people physically and mentally might feel after childbirth and ways of coping.   Prima time reading!

Advantages: Lots of personal advice, competitions, freebies.
Disadvantages: A lot of articles are repeated over the years.

...When I first found out that I was pregnant, to say I was surprised was a bit of an understatement. I began to stock up on all sorts of baby books and magazines to try and prepare myself for the big arrival. I purchased three or four books and found that not only did they cost a lot but they didn?t give me advice in a friendly way, and tended to read more like a text book. It was like being lectured at, and I found it disconcerting to say the least. Baby magazines however were available to buy at a much more reasonable price and are bright, have lots of gorgeous pictures, and are filled with up-to-date, friendly advice and tips. Prima Baby: Everything for the mum in you

...I bought this magazine after I finished reading my copy of Mother and Baby, and I needed something else to read. This particular cover grabbed my attention as it was the first one I had seen which featured a Celeb mum on the cover. This particular cover star is Jordan aka Katie Price, who is heavily pregnant on the cover. So here goes my review. Prima breadmaker. Nice idea, but...

Advantages: Fresh bread
Disadvantages: Poor design

...Now, don't get me wrong. I like our Prima breadmaker. It produces some tasty loaves, it is fairly easy to use but there are problems with the Prima breadmaker that could (perhaps that would better be should?) have been fixed before it went into production. For example it is very noisy, and I have noticed with a couple of these machines they tend to start to rattle rather a lot when kneading the dough. Also, it is not uncommon for people who use breadmakers (especially those who are new to the breakmaking machine game!) to accidentally put too much bread mixture in. This can result in the bread dough rising too much and overflowing into the machine and covering the element. This can cause problems with cleaning the dough off the elements as there seems to have been no thought given to dealing with such accidental spillage...

Please Prima - I do have a brain

Advantages: some useful crafty stuff
Disadvantages: the most patronising thing published since 1920something!

...Way back when, in the first half of the last century, women's magazines were all about how to be a nice little lady who cooked nice meals for hubby and was thrifty and handy around the house. Then came the 1960s and all that was swept away and magazines were politicised and carried articles about the real world - and even stuff that was fun! Then came Prima with its knitting patterns, recipes and articles about children's sniffles. I don't object to that per se, if it sells, which it does, then it's doing something right. I actually bought this for one if its patterns but I was quite horrified at the tone of the rest of the publication. Just because I am female and may wish to know how to sew a coat, it does not mean I don't have two brain cells to rub together! I do not need to be patronised, talked down to and downright insulted...

prima papa position!

Advantages: large comfy seat
Disadvantages: can be to big for small babies

...i was given ( as a baby present) a prima papa highchair by mamas and papas from mothercare as a present nrealy 5 years ago when they first came out and i have to say it is probably the only highchair will ever use from now on. Mine has with stood two boys of my own and countless dinner guests. It has also been used for sleeping, painting, the odd pirate ship game and a few tv dinners. THe chair itself has a huge, well padded seat with removeable covers, which i used to wash in the sink and give it a good scrub, harness and recline positions. The rest of the chair can be set at verious height levels, from floor to the top which can stand next to a work surface, and can fold almost flat. It has a very easy to use folding mechanism and the newer models have wheels and a toy basket. You can pruchase a seat liner if you need more...
